Overview

What the charity does: Education/training Who the charity helps: Children/young People How the charity helps: Provides Other Finance Where the charity operates: London Borough of Bromley The CIO – was registered 22 Jul 2016.

Purpose / Charitable objects

The objects of the association are to advance the education of the pupils of the Harris Primary Academy Kent House (hereafter “The Academy”).

By providing and assisting in the provision of facilities for education at the academy (not normally provided by the department for education) and as an ancillary thereto and in furtherance of this object the association may:- a) foster more extended relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the academy; and b) engage in activities which support the academy and advance the education of the pupils attending it.

All monies raised by the PTA are intended to provide ‘extras’ not already provided by the school’s main income. This often includes ‘fun things’; that make learning more interesting and exciting.

Organisation and governance

Members - All parents/carers and teachers at Kent House are members of the Kent House PTA. The Committee – The PTA holds an Annual General Meeting (AGM), generally at the end of the school year. The committee comprises A chair, a treasurer, a secretary and ordinary committee members made up of 2 parents. The Vice Principal, Dan Hall was replaced by Alexa Akcakiryan in January 2024. The Committee & PTA are governed by the Constitution from 2015.

2024 in review:

The same parent candidates continued to run the PTA for the first half of the year with Emily Collin joining the Committee as Deputy Secretary at the AGM which was well attended and held at the school on Tuesday 25[th] June. Lucy Cooke’s daughter moved to a school closer to home, so sadly Lucy stepped down on 22[nd] September.

There were a healthy number of KHPTA committee meetings held and this year we held an AGM with good attendance, lots of ideas, mostly around after school clubs, shade, shelter and playground furniture for the field/playground. The Trustees Annual Reports for 2022 (overdue) and 2023 (due Oct 2024), were approved by all and filed by Karen Delahoy in good time following their approval. With thanks to Karen Delahoy for her work on these.

There are still administrative loose ends to tie up, mostly around the bank account access and work continues on this.

The committee worked hard in 2024 on the Summer Fair, with huge support from Alexa Acakiryan, which was much appreciated. The committee also held regular treat/bake sales and worked to mobilise further interest in the PTA but were unable to hold a Winter Offering due to timings and restrictions in place.

Financial review Closing Bank Balance (31/12/24): £2,454.48 Petty Cash in hand (31/12/24): £29.66 Total Income: £2,454.48 Total Expenditure: £1,700.91 Total Profit: £753.57

Revenue was generated by holding pre-loved uniform and bake/treat/ice pole sales and a Summer Fair.

Expenditure was used in school as follows: £189.60 was spent on 2 card readers for events. We were delighted to support the Forest School initiative and provided £505.62 of supplies to the school and £420.04 was spent on Pupil Voice Tabards. Running costs (ParentKind & Stock for Sales).

The committee completed mandate forms to obtain control of the Bank account at Barclays. Barclays required more information but as Lucy Cooke left, it required more changes. We hope to finally get access sorted in 2025.

Thanks

Thanks to all parents and carers, committee members and teaching staff who give their time and effort to help raise funds for the school and support our events.
