Chaimian, Secretary. and Treasurer, who are supported by other

The Colden Common Shed is a member of the UK Men's Shed
Organisation (UKMSA), which provides helpful advice and opportunÉties
for joint programmes. Shed Trustees regulariy attend the Southem Men's
Sheds Ne￿Ork quarterly meetings to exthange Ideas and advice.

To promote the preservation and protection of good health, for the public
benefit by preventing people. particulady. but not exclusively, older men
within Colden Common and the surrounding area, from becoming socially
excluded, and assisting them to integrate into society through the

The organisation aims to provide a safe, fully equipped. welcoming
location, predominantly but not exclusively for older men who live in
Colden Common and the Su￿ound1ng villages. Our aim is to offer
somewhere to meet. take part in workshop activities if so desired, but
more importantly to socialise and overcome possible isolation of the
members.
Activities are aimed at both the personal projects of members, but more
predoMinan￿Y at group projects to produce rtems either for sale to
support funds, or for local groups such as the primary school and local
playgroups.

In planning our activities, we have had regard of the Charity
Commission's guidan￿ on public benefft. As an example. we have
opened up the opportunty to non-members in the village to join our
organised trips OLrt.

Achievements and performance
Summary ofthe main
achievements of the charity
during the year
The past year has b*n a steady one, with the effects of COVID still
being in eviden￿. The Shed participated in both the village Communty
Fayre, and the Idmnchester Cty Christmas Market, selling wooden items
made in the workshop, including Bird Boxes {decorated by one of the
artistically talented members). Chopping Boards, and small wooden
Christmas decorations.
The Shed corrtinued to SUPFQrt local entities with projects completed for
both Colden Common and Twyford Church, the local Primary School and
Play Groups.
The capabiltb'es of the Shed has been enhanced this year due to the
purchase of a number of new ple￿S of equipment, thanks to grants from
nchester Cty Council. and from our own funds. The Shed buildings
have undergone planned maintenan￿, with all exterior walls being
revamished by the members.
Trips out to the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton, the Haynes Motor
Museum, and to the Steam Museum at Swindon were enjoyed by
members.

Presently, the only agreed reserves retained in the Shed Bank Accounts
are a) £1500 to cover Insurance and 12 months rent and b) a further
£5000 as a maintenan￿ Fund.

The prinripal source of funding for the Shed is through membership fees
and the sale of items rn￿le within the workshops at local community
fairs. These funds cover the basic running costs of Rent, Insurance
Cover. and workshop consumables. Currently, any excess income from
sales is being put asKle to support the costs of fvture refurbishment.
