The provision of facilities for the coaching and performance of athletics for the benefit of the inhabitants of Norwich and the surrounding area with the object of improving the condition and life of the said inhabitants.”_ ## Strategic objectives - Provide an inclusive development, mentoring and support structure to develop athletes of all ages and abilities. - Provide competitive opportunities for all members and all abilities. - Support all activities across the key disciplines of Track & Field, Cross County and Road Running. - Provide a structured and supportive environment to develop coaching, officials and volunteers in support of all club objectives and activities. - Be an organisation that people are proud to represent, manage and be members of. - Consider and prioritise athlete, coach and volunteer wellbeing in all that we do. - Continually review and refine operating procedures and policies. ## Significant activities We now have 804 members of which 126 are volunteers in the club and 364 are under the age of 18. We provide opportunities for our members in track & field athletics, cross country, road running and Sportshall; and compete in a wide range of leagues and competitions on a local, regional and national basis. We organise road races each year, notably a mass participation 10k. Many of our activities are based at the Sportspark in Norwich, with a variety of other local venues utilised on a regular basis. Club membership is open to all inhabitants of Norwich and the surrounding area. Membership subscriptions may be discounted at the discretion of the Executive Committee, and each case of financial hardship is considered on its own merits. ## **2 - ACHIEVEMENTS & PERFORMANCE** ## Track & Field ## _Training_ - The provision of training continues to be the club’s largest activity across all disciplines and age groups. - The club has made a significant investment in equipment to help facilitate training and competition. - A survey of coaches and members highlighted areas for improvement and a revised structure including increased support for coaches and coach development is now in place with a number of people undertaking coaching qualifications. ## _Competition_ - The club has provided a wide range of opportunities for athletes of all ages and abilities to compete individually and as part of a team. - The club finished 3rd out of 94 clubs in the Southern Athletics League, a fantastic achievement for a club of this size, in a league that involved a lot of travel. - The club finished 5[th] in the Eastern Young Athletes League, taking part in the Top 6 final where the U13G team won their age group. - The club won the East Anglian League overall, picking up 13 out of a possible 17 trophies. - The club hosted three home league matches and provided officials for many away matches, often assisting other clubs to help address a lack of officials at their matches. - There were many good individual performances at all levels, including a number of international selections. PAGE 2 **CITY OF NORWICH ATHLETIC CLUB REGISTERED CHARITY 1168190** ## **REPORT OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES & UNAUDITED FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2025** - The club’s athletes were well represented at English Schools with many good performances. - There has been a restructure within T&F Competition with officials’ development and transport being delegated to new roles. - The club hosted a successful Junior T&F Awards evening to celebrate 2025 achievements. ## Athletics 365 - The athletics 365 group is the route into CoNAC for all new 8-11 years olds. The athletes have completed a structured multi-event training program and have been assessed using the Sportshall awards scheme and 365 criteria. This has allowed the athletes to demonstrate personal improvement and growth. - There are around a hundred members registered with us. A large number of these successfully progress through the training into more specialised event groups. - Participation in competitions as well as regular training has been encouraged. Athletes from the group have represented CoNAC in track and field events (inc, quad kids, Sporthall) and cross-country races, gaining experience and success. - The Athletics 365 training format has also provided an excellent environment for new coach development. In the past year we have supported coaching assistants, work experience placements and DofE awards. ## Road Running ## _Road Races_ - The 2025 Trowse 10k is staged in March, which was once again sold out. It shows its popularity in the local road running race calendar. ## _Competition_ - The club’s athletes competed in a variety of road races across all levels of ability and age groups. - The 2025 County Champs were held across different events. This engaged many members from the club who took individual and team medals. - The club entered teams in local relay races, achieving several stage wins and stage records in the Round Norfolk Relay. This represents a great community of runners expanding beyond just running. - The club fielded athletes in all age categories at the Southern and National Road Relay Championships held in the Autumn with some impressive individual and team performances. - Several club athletes received special recognition awards at the Athletics Norfolk Road Running Presentation evening. - Several athletes were selected to represent Team England at international road races. ## Cross Country - 6 January – We started the year by playing a big part (most of the volunteers, pretty much all of the equipment) in hosting the 2025 Norfolk XC Championships in Earlham Park, Norwich on behalf of Athletics Norfolk. Our athletes turned out in force with many impressive performances and lots of Norfolk medals and trophies to show for our efforts. - 26 January – At the South of England XC Championships in Beckenham Place Park, we closed out teams in the U13 boys (17[th] ), U17 men (7[th] ) and U20 women (2[nd] ) with individual medal performances from Michael Clark (silver, U17 men) and Sarah Barrett (bronze, U20 women). - 22 February – The National XC Championships took place at an especially muddy Parliament Hill Fields in NW London. We closed out teams in the U17 men (silver), U17 women (12[th] ), U20 men (5[th] ), U20 women (8[th] ) and senior men (24[th] ). Best individual performance was Michael Clark in the U17 men’s race with a 4[th] place. - 18 October – At the South of England XC Relays held at Wormwood Scrubs, our teams finished as follows: U13 boys 14[th] , 17[th] & 32[nd] , U15 boys 21[st] , U17 men 18[th] and pride of place to our gold-winning U20 men – Michael Clark, Jake Dorbin & Will Percival. - 1 November – National XC Relays – the annual trip to Berry Hill Park, Mansfield saw our teams perform well: U13 boys 47[th] , U13 girls 24[th] , U15 boys 29[th] , U17 men 67[th] , U17 women 30[th] , U20 men 8[th] & 24th, senior men 42[nd] & 100[th] . - 22 November – we had ten athletes at the Liverpool Cross Challenge which doubled as the trials for the upcoming European XC. Michael Clark booked his place on the GB & NI team with an outstanding victory in the U20 men’s race while Zach Dunne placed 10[th] just 18 seconds behind Michael, Megan Gadsby was 17[th] in the U23 women’s race and Henry Jonas finished 19[th] in the U23 men’s race, - 14 December – European XC Championships in Lagoa, Portugal – Michael Clark lost a shoe in the first minute of his race but still managed an impressive 18[th] place in the U20 men’s race to help GB to a team silver behind Belgium with Spain in 3[rd] place. PAGE 4 **CITY OF NORWICH ATHLETIC CLUB REGISTERED CHARITY 1168190** ## **REPORT OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES & UNAUDITED FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2025** ## **3 - FINANCIAL REVIEW** ## Financial position - Receipts totalled £98,128 (2024: £76,799) and expenditure totalled £90,831 (2024: £63,977) giving rise to an excess of receipts over payments for the year of £7,297 (2024: £12,822). - Year-end bank balances totalled £151,387 (2024: £144,090). - The Board of Trustees considers the year-end financial position to be satisfactory. ## Principal funding sources The principal funding sources of the club are membership subscriptions, club activities and club promoted events. ## Investment policy and objectives Surplus funds are invested at minimum risk in bank deposit accounts compliant with the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). ## Reserves policy - Our reserves policy ensures we have sufficient funds to cover the cost of a major event cancellation such as the Trowse 10k road race, loss of membership, unforeseen costs and/or operating costs in the absence of revenue. It is therefore considered that the club should maintain a minimum level of funds to cover its normal operating costs for a sixmonth period including event cancellations; this currently amounts to £62,166. - Reserves in excess of the amount shown above are available for consideration from club and athlete support and development objectives. - Reserves should be placed into appropriate accounts in line with the Investment Policy. PAGE 5 **CITY OF NORWICH ATHLETIC CLUB REGISTERED CHARITY 1168190** **REPORT OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES & UNAUDITED FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2025** ## **4 - FUTURE PLANS** - Review & monitor membership levels - Provide structure for athlete development pathways - Encourage participation levels to match our competitive ambitions - Recruit and train coaches in all disciplines - Recruit and train officials in all disciplines - Develop succession plans for key roles - Consider alternative venues for training and competition - Recruit additional Trustees, with complimentary skills and experience to ensure a balanced Board - Review and develop existing and new revenue generation opportunities - Investigate the feasibility of introducing additional road races - Investigate the possibility of a whole-club event ## **5 - STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE and MANAGEMENT** ## Governing Document The charity - a charitable incorporated organisation or CIO - is controlled by its constitution which was registered with the Charity Commission on 12 July 2016 and amended on 24 November 2016 and 16 September 2020. ## Recruitment and appointment of new trustees - Trustees are recruited on the basis of the skills, knowledge and experience they can bring to the governance of the organisation. - At each AGM, one third of the Trustees must retire by rotation according to those who have been longest in office since their last appointment or re-appointment. There must be a minimum of three Trustees and a maximum of twelve. - All new Trustees are required to read the charity’s constitution, other available information regarding the charity and the latest accounts. - All Trustees are required to read the Charity Commission’s guidance note CC3 _“The Essential Trustee, what you need to know, what you need to do”_ together with the Charity Commission’s and other organisations’ newsletters. - All potential new trustees must complete an _Application Form_ , an _Eligibility Questionnaire_ and a _Skills Audit_ . PAGE 6 **CITY OF NORWICH ATHLETIC CLUB REGISTERED CHARITY 1168190** ## **REPORT OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES & UNAUDITED FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2025** ## Organisational Structure - The charity’s Board of Trustees meets at least every two months to provide leadership to the club, ensuring it remains focused on its long-term vision and has the resources to achieve its goals. - The club’s Executive Committee meets at least every two months at which the club’s activity areas are represented by the relevant Coordinators. - Larger activity areas such as track & field and road running have their own subcommittees which include coaches and event directors. - Individual events have their own leaders who are part of the sub-committees and / or Executive Committee (e.g. Track & Field Competition Coordinator.) - There are additional roles that do not sit on the Executive Committee (e.g. Welfare Officer, Kit Officer). I report in respect of my examination of the CIO’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all applicable directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145 (5) (b) of the Act. ## Independent Examiner’s statement I have completed my examination.
