Structure, governance and management

The charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) formed on 7 July 2016 and is governed by a constitution.

Method of recruitment and appointment of trustees

The trustees of the charity are appointed by the members at the AGM.

Objectives and activities

The charity's objects

1) To advance the Christian religion in England and Wales, mainly Yorkshire and the Humber, particularly the Metropolitan District of Leeds.

2) To advance the education of the public in the Christian religion.

3) The advancement of the Christian religion mainly, but not exclusively, by means of broadcasting the Christian religion messages of an evangelistic and teaching nature.

4) To advance the Christian religion for the benefit of the public through the holding of prayer meetings, lectures, public celebration of religious festivals, producing end or distributing literature on the Christian religion to enlighten others about Christian religion.

Trustees' report (continued) for the year ended 31 March 2022

The charity's main activities

Achievements and performance

Able to reach out nationally and internationally via our Sunday virtual service and mid-week Bible study.

Emotional and spiritual support (bereavement, sickness) during COVID-19 pandemic situation – virtually and in person.

Continued charity usual activities as mentioned above – virtually and in person.

10 new baptisms since January 2022.

Starter goods support pack for new international nurses from June 2021 up until December 2021.

Birthed 6 new bible study groups.

Financial review

The net receipts for the year were £24,262, including net receipts of £22,262 on unrestricted funds and net receipts of £2,000 on designated funds, after transfers.

The coronavirus didn’t have any significant financial effects on our organisation but we scaled down certain church activities in line with government policy on Covid 19 restrictions. We helped (in kinds) our members and the community during the pandemic period from our Covid 19 allocated and approved budget that the organisation had set up.

The trustees have reassessed the charity’s ability to continue for at least 12 months from the date that the accounts are approved and conclude that no material uncertainties exist that cast significant doubt on the charity's ability to meet its liabilities as they fall due.

Reserves policy

The charity's free reserves, excluding fixed assets, at the year end were £99,506. The purposes of the church reserves are:

To achieve the above, the maximum amount of the reserves should be £99,000.00 and the minimum amount of reserves should be £12,000.

Approved by the board of trustees on 12/12/2022

Independent examiner's report to the trustees of Hope Leeds Community

Church CIO

I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the CIO for the year ended 31 March 2022, which are set out on pages 5 to 8.

Responsibilities and basis of report

As the charity trustees of the CIO you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act').

I report in respect of my examination of the CIO's accounts as carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act. In carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

Independent examiner's statement

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

1 accounting records were not kept in respect of the CIO as required by section 130 of the Act; or 2 the accounts do not accord with those records.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
