Battle Arts and Music Festival Trustees Report (continued) Year to 30th April 2024
2023 saw Battle Festival celebrating its 10th year and has now become a firm fixture in South East England's cultural calendar.
We were proud to stage world class theatre, jazz, classical music and visual arts as well as many other events.
We expanded our educational outreach work with our world class musicians and authors visiting local primary schools for live performances and workshops. They encouraged children to create artwork and poems inspired by the music performed in our opening concert.
We expanded our Jazz offer to have a weekend of jazz, with 6 groups playing over a weekend. This added to the Festivals appeal and we were rewarded by many of the audience travelling considerable distances to come to our town. This benefited local businesses and hospitality outlets.
The Festival only exists because of the dedicated members of the public who donate many hours of work to make the Festival such a success and we are deeply grateful for all their hard work.
The Festival is concerned that the lack of grants from funding bodies will limit and indeed bring doubt about the ability of the Festival to survive. We will work hard to attract funds for 2024.
