Purpose** St. Paul’s extended school provision provides high quality wrap-around care and support for pupils and their families before and after school during term time. This provision provides a happy, safe and stimulating environment for all pupils to play, learn and develop through their play and socialisation with other club members. The provision is registered under the Charity Commission for England and Wales as a general charitable service for children and young people. We realise our vision through inspiring and nurturing our whole school family to grow and reach their full potential . Main activities** Our extended provision provides a happy, safe and stimulating environment for all children to play, learn and develop, encouraging them to foster a positive attitude and respect for both themselves and others. We work alongside school in supporting its distinctive Christian vision of enabling our children to ‘Thrive in the gift of life’. We achieve this by: - Promoting healthy lifestyle choices by offering and encouraging healthy food choices and physical activity. - Encouraging outdoor play as often as the weather allows, including the use of the outdoor equipment. - Continuing to develop children’s independence, by allowing them to choose what they would like for breakfast or as a snack at after school club and giving responsibility for cleaning up after themselves. - Encouraging children to plan and choose their own activities. - Offering a wide range of activities that are fully inclusive of all our children, including those with SEND. ## **3. Structure, Governance and Management** The Extended Provision is overseen by a committee appointed by the Governing Body of Farington Moss St. Paul’s CE School, including the head teacher and 2 managers Ms E. Muldowney and Mrs J. Braddock who are responsible for the dayto-day running of the provision and management of staff employed. The membership of the committee will be determined at the first meeting of the Governing Body in the autumn term. The terms of reference of the committee are reviewed annually. The committee will elect a chair from among the members of the committee. In the absence of the chair at a meeting the committee will elect any member to act as chair for that meeting. The committee may, if they so wish, propose suitable persons from the Governing Body to be co-opted to the Committee and non-voting members to provide additional expertise. Members of the committee are encouraged to take steps to maintain and develop their knowledge and skills, for example by attending appropriate training. On behalf of the Governing Body, the Committee’s responsibility is to ensure the welfare of children attending is protected and that this provision is safe as per Keeping Children Safe in Education (2024) and After-school clubs, community activities, and tuition; Safeguarding guidance for providers (2023) which includes: - safeguarding and child protection - the suitability of staff and volunteers - health and safety - governance On behalf of the Governing Body, the Committee have delegated powers to undertake the following duties: - monitoring capacity for provision, including reviewing the equitable distribution of places - monitoring and reviewing resources such as staffing and expenditure The committee meets as a minimum of once per term following the agreed agenda: - Apologies for Absence - Minutes of the previous meeting and Matters Arising - Current provision/places - Capacity - Staffing (including ratios) - Resources - Health & Safety - Safeguarding - Any Other Business ## **4. Trustees** There are currently 3 Trustees appointed to govern the operation of the Extended Provision. All trustees are Governors of Farington Moss St. Paul’s C.E. School. Declaration of interest** Declarations of interest for Governor’s are declared on a digital platform called GovernorHub and specific conflicts are raised at the start of any agenda item or discussion for which that conflict arises. A declaration of interest register is maintained on GovernorHub and monitored by the Chair of Governors and LCC Governor Services. ## **6. Training** All staff working in the extended provision have completed safeguarding and food hygiene training. Both managers are Paediatric first aid trained, and the level of first aid training is monitored with training provided dependant on the level of cover. We are an inclusive provision; training is provided for staff dependant on the needs of children using our provision. The need for any additional training is monitored and regularly reviewed by SLT. All staff receive training on play to ensure that the children have the opportunity for free choice and creative play. Staff who attend a course feedback the knowledge gained to all staff. ## **7. Governor feedback** Governors recognise the significant contribution the Extended Provision makes to the wider school community. The breakfast and after-school club teams provide a caring, safe and positive environment, which is highly valued by families who rely on this provision. The quality of care offered is considered a key strength of the school. Governors commend the managers and staff for establishing clear routines and maintaining a calm, nurturing atmosphere that supports pupils at both the start and end of the school day. Effective leadership and management ensure consistency, and the presence of familiar, trusted staff promotes strong relationships with pupils and positive communication with families. This supports the school’s vision and Christian ethos. The provision currently offers 40 breakfast and 45 after-school places. The introduction of an online booking and payment system has strengthened financial management, ensuring payments are made in advance and eliminating previous issues with outstanding balances. Staffing levels exceed statutory requirements, ensuring high levels of supervision and support for pupils. Governors note that the school is proactively reviewing capacity, supported by a successful grant to enhance storage and resources, enabling potential future expansion. Governors also acknowledge ongoing development priorities. These include updating and replenishing resources, particularly to better meet the needs of older pupils, with plans for pupil consultation to inform purchasing decisions. Food provision continues to promote healthy choices, although consideration is being given to staff wellbeing in relation to food collection arrangements, with appropriate time-in-lieu encouraged. The use of a promotional video to showcase the provision is commended, with further development planned. Governance arrangements are also strengthening, with termly meetings, forward planning, and clear agenda-setting supporting continued improvement and oversight.
