The Trustees present their report for the period 1% June 2024 to 31% May 2025:

Section A: Reference and Administration Details.

MVCBA The Bowery Station Road Soberton Hampshire $032 3QU

Section B: Structure, Governance and Management.

Section C: Objectives and Activities.

Summary of the Objectives of the charity set out in its governing document:

To provide transport facilities in the villages of the Meon Valley and the surrounding area for people who have a need for such facilities, including the elderly, disabled, those with young children or those living in isolated areas lacking adequate public transport facilities.

Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects:

The Association was founded in 1985 and is a charity operated a Community Bus under a Section 22 Permit to provide:

The trustees and all the bus drivers are unpaid volunteers. All drivers are trained and MiDAS qualified

Section D: Achievements and Performance.

The purpose of MVCBA is to provide a safe, dependable, and friendly service. This service is delivered by our 16 volunteer drivers, who turn out in all weathers. It is their commitment that keeps this essential and much valued service going throughout the Meon Valley. MVCBA continues to receive praise for the service we provide, particularly from customers on journeys and at the Annual Public Meeting

We provide a regular 3 day per week service. Despite a reduction in the numbers of drivers due to age and other commitments, we were still able to operate without cancelling any journeys. However, new volunteers are actively being sought to maintain our excellent service record. We have also been able to continue private hire to local community groups which remains in considerable demand.

Brief Statement of the Charity’s policy on reserves:

The Trustees decided there are sufficient reserve funds. However, future vehicle replacement from the proceeds of its operations will be dependent on the availability of grants from either local or central government and/or an increase in passengers and private hire.

The bus continued to deliver against our requirements but due to substantial increase in maintenance costs it was decided to purchase a new replacement using reserve funds.

There is no guarantee that grants will be available in future. Against this background, the Trustees aim to ensure that the charity has the resources to continue operations for as long as possible without external support.

Remaining reserve funds are placed on deposit, currently with Shawfield Bank. This policy will be reviewed regularly and adjusted if necessary.

The charity’s financial situation is secure thanks to recent support from Hampshire Council for the weekly service to Petersfield. Regrettably, this funding will be withdrawn with effect from 31% October 2025, due to local government spending cuts. However, donations are promised from local Parish councils and local Parish Summer Fetes. This will assist in offsetting the effect of the withdrawal of support from Hampshire County Council in the short term and discussions have begun to achieve a longer-term solution.

The reserve policy is unchanged.

As shown in the annual accounts, cash funds as of 31°¢ May 2025 stood at £26,727.

Section F: Other optional information.

Deliberately left blank.

Section G: Declaration.

The Trustees deciare that they have approved the Trustees’ report above. Signed by two Trustees on behalf of all the Charity’s Trustees:
