202212023 HellD 1fr6es & s¥poftt•s, We hope this newsletter finds you well. Well where do we start? What a year it has been! Following the obstacles presented by COVID-19 and the subsequent lock downs its been so refreshing and quite a relief thal we have been able to get our fundraising activities going again. This year has been full of challenges and events and we have been blown away by the motivation and generosity of our fundraisers and supporters. It was a great feeling to be involved in the iconic British IOK and our annual Purley Rotary children's swimathon once again. You can read more about the events that took place a little further on. In terms of projects, we really have grown this year and have expanded our work with children in the UK as sadly, the need for support continues to increase. Our Christmas appeal was our biggest to date and we have been extremely fortunate to have had a lot of help from some wonderful corporate supporters who have been our behind the scenes elves, wrapping, labelling and sorting. Our trustees have worked tirelessly to keep operations running smoothly and we are so grateful to them for continuing to dedicate so much time, energy and kindness to help bring love and laughter to the thousands of children we support, We have also welcomed our grant writer Jess to the team who has been busy behind the scenes spreading the word about what we do. Her efforts have successfully secured us £15,600 in donations from incredible trusts and foundations. We are so grateful for the generosity of these organisations and we hope you like reading more about the impact this revenue has had on our charitable work below. We would like to thank everyone who has donated, volunteered and supported our work. We really could not have achieved any of this without you. It just goes to show that together, we can do so much. Here's to spreading sunshine even further in 2023. ' fag6 & tA4

CHARITABLE WORK . HO LATE TREAT Chocolate is a universal treat and something that can often bring a smile to a child's face! In 2022 we delivered 100 easter eggs to children living in refuges in the UK. We also supported local food banks with both eggs and advent calendars and even managed to help the Easter bunny reach our friends at Yomelelani in South Africa! We provided 60 goody bags packed with pamper treats for the incredible female survivors of modern slavery supported by our friends at Their Voice. Our founder Faye also visited the refuges to teach paediatric first aid to the mums. These were useful sessions which the women enjoyed immensely. At the end of the classes we made time for a chaL a cuddle with the babies & take away pizza for all. Throughout the year we also continued to gift children's toiletries to Their Voice to give to the children arriving in emergency care & the families living in the refuges throughout the UK. 51tr IEDDY BEAR APPEAI "" who arrives at the UK refuges we supporL Often the children arrive with just the clothes on their back and having a toy of their own can provide comfort & joy. This year we were proud to distribute120 teddies. SUNSHINE HOME We continue to pay for the upkeep of Sunshine Home, a safe house for women & children affected by HIV that was built in India in 2016. We cover the costs of food, medicine & electricity in order to provide a safe environment for vulnerable women & children. This year we welcomed 13 women to the home. One of these ladies was HIV positive & pregnant on arrival & thanks to the medicine provided at Sunshine Home her baby was born HIV free.
CHARITABLE WORK Our Christmas appeal continues to grow from strength to strength and this year over 1500 gifts were delivered throughout the festive period! The gifts were shipped to South Africa and Ghana and closer to home they were provided to children spending time in hospitals, hospices, safe houses and refuges. Every child deseNes to enjoy Christmas & often the gifts provided through our appeal are the only present a child will receive. These gifts bring happiness and remind the children that they are valued. Thank you to everyone who has helped with wrapping & gift donations this year. We are so proud of what we've achieved together. CONTINUED XPERIENC DAYS The majority of the children we support have faced extreme trauma in their young lives & this year we continued to create positive memories for as many children as possible. Here are some of the ways we did this: Provided 40 cinema vouchers for children living in refuge Funded Halloween & Christmas parties for children living in extreme poverty in both India & South Africa. Sent Christmas pyjamas for 26 children at the Winnie Mabaso Foundation home for girls & gave each child some of their own money to experience a shopping spree & treat themselves to some new clothes or a toy. Provided Pizza Express & Prezzo vouchers for families who have survived modern slavery. Arranged days out to the cinema, zoo & aquarium for children who have had to flee their home because of domestic violence. Funded an in-house circus extravaganza for families at Chestnut Tree House Hospice along with a Harry Potter Day & Wizard of Oz workshop. Continue to run our Sibling Project that provides fun activities for the brothers & sisters of terminally ill children in the UK,. a chance for them to have fun & create some positive memories. We also funded bowling & a Christmas party for siblings of children residing in Naomi's House Hospice & arranged a trip to the farm for siblings that are supported by Chestnut Tree House.
CHARITABLE WORK CONTINUED This year marked ten years of us running our birthday club project that provides disadvantaged children with a birthday present to open on their special day. In the last decade we have sent over 5000 birthday gifts and over 300 cakes! Many of the children we work with wouldn't normally receive a gift and some of the children have never celebrated their birthday before. We love the feedback we receive, and this testimonial in particular showed us the huge impact this small gesture has on children's live& "I remember viwdly one day a mother coming to collect her tiny tot from school and wth tears in her eyes she saw him standing proudly with his birthday cake. She hadn't even realised it was his birthday as she had no means of celebrating his special day. It was the first cake he had ever received." In March, we were delighted to co-fund another Colourscape event at The Chilrden's Trust for the 6th consecutive year. These workshops use colour & light therapy to aid rehabilitation of children with acquired brain injuries. The sessions are hugely popular with both the children & families we supporL We look forward to funding more of these sessions in 2023.
JOSIE SPREADS SUNSHIN We were fortunate enough to have the support of the AMAZING Josie Gibson, who appeared on ITV'S Tipping Point to raise money for Spread Some Sunshine. She raised £1,100, which will enable us to help so many children. We are so grateful to Josie for being one of our biggest cheerleaders, helping spread the word about the work that we are doing & for raising so many much needed funds which enable us to continue spreading sunshine! HAT'StOMINeup? We have many plans which include more colourscape therapies and the Welsh 3 peaks challenge, which we will be doing in collaboration with Virgin. We would love to extend our sibling activities along with our Christmas Gift Appeal. The demand for presents only gets higher every year & we always want to be able to give presents to everyone that needs them. We are also keen to organise our own 'swimathon' to enable us to get as many children involved and fundraising. j, THANK YOU As always, space doesn't allow us to thank everyone we would like to give a shout out to! To every single person who has donated, sent gifts, volunteered, shared campaigns and cheered us on an enormous thank youl To our fundraisers you are fearless legends who have enabled us to have a positive impact on the lives of thousands of children. Our regular givers are our silent heroes. They really do help us to keep our projects running. Having a regular monthly income gives us security and the ability to budget for our year ahead. We'd like to thank our corporate supporters: Lexis Nexis Risk Solutions Nestle, Gerald Eve, Notary Solutions St Stephens Primary School and Virgin Atlantic. Your support is invaluable and as a small charity, your generosity has allowed us to grow. The foundations who have supported us have enabled us to expand our support and help more children and we so appreciate your collaboration. Thank you to the wonderful charities we work with who are making such a difference, to our team of trustees. our wonderful Jess and Georgiee and everyone who has helped us achieve so much this year.
