The trustees present their annual report and the financial statements for the year ended 31 August 2024. The trustees have adopted the provisions of the Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) 'Accounting and Reporting by Charities' effective 1 January 2015.

Structure, Governance and Management

Governing Document

God's Vineyard Ministries was originally a charitable organisation registered with the Charity Commission and governed by a Trust Deed dated 5th August 2001 and supplementary deed dated 14th May 2003 until 12th November, 2018 when it fully changed status to Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO).

Recruitment and appointment of new trustees

Generally trustees are appointed by Board of Trustees. Trustees are appointed by invitation as at when required and depending on their expertise and requirements of the charity.

Induction and training of new trustees

We arrange appropriate training both internally and through other voluntary training providers. The trustees and all involved in running the charity, including volunteers are always encouraged to acquire the necessary skills required for the achievement of the charity objectives.

Additionally, new trustees are invited and encouraged to attend series of short training sessions to familiarise themselves with the charity and the context within which it operates.

Organisational structure

The trustees who served during the period and up to the date of the report are set out above. The day to day responsibility for the running of the charity lies with the Senior Pastor. The Senior Pastor is accountable to the Board of Trustees who are ultimately responsible for all strategic decisions of the charity.

The trustees meet regularly and are responsible for the strategic direction and policy of the charity. All trustees including the senior pastor give their time voluntarily and receive no benefits from the charity. There are full time employees who are engaged in the administrative running of the Church office. The charity is also assisted by members who render voluntary services.

Risk Management

The trustees have assessed the major risks to which the charity is exposed, in particular those related to operations and finances of the charity, and are satisfied that systems are in place to mitigate exposure to major risks.

Objectives and Principal Activities

Our objectives and principal activity is to promote the advancement of the christian faith, the relief of poverty to general public and promotion and fulfilment of various charitable causes within the local community and such other parts of the United Kingdom and the world as the trustees think fit.

The Charity pursues these objectives by operating at the headquarter church in Nottingham and across our satellite churches.

Ensuring Our Work Delivers Our Aims

We review our aims, objectives and activities each year. This review looks at what we achieved and the outcomes of our work in the previous 12 months. The review looks at the success of each key activity and the benefits theyhave brought to those groups of people we are set up to help. The review also helps us ensure our aim, objectives and activities remained focused on our stated purposes. We have referred to the guidiance contained in the Charity Commission's general guidance on public benefit when reviewing our aim and objectives and in planning our future activities. In particular, the trustees consider how planned activities will contribute to the aims and objectives they have set.

The Focus of Our Work

Our main objectives for the year continued to be the advancement of the Christian religion and the relieve of poverty and sickness. The policy of God's Vineyard Ministries is to pursue objectives in the following ways:

  1. Provision of Weekly Churces on Thursday and Sundays and to minister to physical,spiritual and material needs of the congregants.

  2. Provision of services to individuals, families and community at large. The service includes a wide range of spiritual and social care.

  3. Focusing on the material needs of certain members undergoing difficult financial situations.

  4. Working with other Christian agencies and Churches in Nottingham, London, Derby, Manchester, Birmingham and Loughborough to advance the preaching of the Gospel.

  5. Radical Youth outreaches in over 25 Universities in the United Kingdom at: Aston University(Birmingham) Bristol University, Derby University,Leicester University,Loughborough University,Manchester Univeristy, University of East Anglia,-Norwich Nottingham Trent Univeristy, Nottingham University(Headquater), Bradford University, Coventry University, Sheffield University etc.

  6. Offering our services to anyone in need of spiritual help through free Christain counselling, prayers and deliverance solely on the basis of our ability to provide appropriate help and regardless of race, colour nationality, religion,gender,age, legal status and personal history.

Development and Achievements in the Year

The charity's events were properly managed, executed and reviewed for its impact on members. Our charity continues to grow in Sunday morning attendance, youth and children's ministry. We minister to the physical, mental and spiritual needs of our members and new comers in our midst. We have helped relief poverty and hardship amongst both regular and irregular congregants who are suffering from financial hardship due to unemployment and lack of financial resources.

The charity conducted crusades in the community to propagate the Christian tenets to non Christians. The charity has not undertaken any large capital projects although it continues to search for appropriate site to increase its charitable activities.

Financial Review

The charity was able to raise a total income of £862,818 during the year under review as against £606,256 last year. This is an incredible increase of £256,562 which is 42.31% increase. There was a remarkable increase in tithes and offerings as well as building fund.

Principal Funding Sources

The principal funding sources for the charity are currently by way of donations and gifts from congregants through the offering basket passed during church services and though bank standing orders. We have exercised our right to reclaim the tax on the donations and gifts received from the congregants and this has proved a steady and growing source of additional income.

Investment Policy

The Charity retains a significant amount in the savings account. The objective of the investment policy is to invest in cash at banks where the capital is protected. The charity currently has a policy of keeping any surplus liquid funds in cash at banks where immediate access and security of funds is guaranteed.

Reserves Policy

It is the policy of the charity to maintain unrestricted funds which are the free reserves of the charity at a level which equates to at least 3 months of unrestricted expenditure. This provides sufficient funds to cover management and administration and support costs and to respond to emergencies which may arise from time to time.

The expenditure for 2024 is £862,818 and therefore the targeted reserves should be between £215,704.50 and £431,409 in general funds. The reserves are needed to meet the working capital requirements of the charity and the trustees are confident that at this level they would be able to continue the current activities of the charity in the event of a significant drop in funding. The reserve policy was not met during this year.

Plans for Future Periods

In the near future, the charity plans to expand its operations and will continue our drive towards providing more benefits to our community The Charity plans continuing the activities outlined above in forthcoming years subject to satisfactory funding arrangements such as Work Based Academy comprising - Youth Employment,Sector based Academy, Adult Education and Training for not in Education or Employment for not in Education or Employment/Vocational Training.

Trustees ' Responsibilities

Charity Law requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity as at the balance sheet date and of its incoming resources and applications of resources, including income and expenditure, for the financial year. In preparing those financial statements the trustees should follow best practice and the followings:

Select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently

Make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent

Prepare the financial statements on going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in operation

The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the company and to enable them to ensure that the financial statement comply with the Charities Act 1993. They are also responsible for the safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

Statement of Disclosure of Information to the Accountants

In accordance with charity law, as trustees, we certify that:

So far as we are aware, there is no relevant information of which the charity's accountants are unaware; and as the trustees of the charity we have taken all steps that we ought to have taken in order to make ourselves aware of any relevant information and to establish that the Charity's accountants are aware of that information'.

Independent Examiner's Report to the Trustees of the God's Vineyard Ministries for the year ended 31 August 2024

I report on the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31 August 2024, which are set out on pages 7 to 13.

Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner

The Trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year (under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (The 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed.

It is my responsibilty to:

examine the accounts (under section 145(1) of the Charity Act 2011;

follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145 (5)[b] of the Charity Act 2011; and

to state whether particular matters have come to my attention

Basis of Independent examiners statement

My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning such matters.

The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a "true and fair" view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below:

Independent examiners statement

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act 2011; and

to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act and with the methods and principles of the Statement of Recommended Practice: Accounting and Reporting by Charities, have not been met; or

(2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

1. Accounting Policies

The principal accounting policies are summarised below. The accounting policies have been applied consistently throughout the year and in the preceding year.

(a) Basis of Accounting

The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention, as modified by the inclusion of fixed assets investments at market value, and in accordance with the Statement of Recommended Practice: Accounting and Reporting by Charities effective 1 January 2015.

(b) Fund Accounting

Unrestricted funds are available for use at the discretion of the trustees in furthermore of the general objectives of the charity. Unrestricted funds include a revaluation reserve representing the restatement of investment assets at market values.

Designated funds are unrestricted funds earmarked by the Trustees for particular purposes.

Restricted funds are subjected to restrictions on their expenditure imposed by the donor or through the terms of an appeal.

(c ) Incoming Resources

All incoming resources are included in the statement of financial activities when the charity is entitled to the income and the amount can be quantified with reasonable accuracy. The following specific policies are applied to particular categories of income:

Voluntary income is received by way of grants, donations and gifts and is included in full in the Statement of Financial Activities when receivable. Grants, where entitlement is not conditional on the delivery of a specific performance by the charity , are recognised when the charity becomes unconditionally entitled to the grant.

Donated services and facilities are included at the value to the charity where this can be quantified. The value of services provided by volunteers has not been included in these accounts.

Invested income is included when receivable.

Incoming resources from charitable trading activity are accounted for when earned.

Incoming resources from grants, where related to performance and specific deliverables, are accounted for as the charity earns the right to consideration by its performance.

(d) Resources expended

Expenditure is recognised on an accrual basis as a liability is incurred. Expenditure includes any VAT which cannot be fully recovered, and is reported as part of the expenditure to which it relates:

Costs of generating funds comprise the costs associated with attracting voluntary income and the costs of trading for fundraising purposes.

Charitable expenditure comprises those costs incurred by the charity in the delivery of its activities and services for its beneficiaries. It includes both costs that can be allocated directly to such activities and those costs of an indirect nature necessary to support them.

Governance costs include those costs associated with meeting the constitutional and statutory requirements of the charity and include the accountancy fees and costs linked to the strategic management of the charity.

All costs are allocated between the expenditure categories of the SoFA (Statement of Financial Activities) on a of the resource. Costs relating to a particular activity are allocated directly, others are apportioned on an basis designed to reflect the use appropriate basis e.g. floor areas, per capita or estmated usage as set out in Note 4.

e. Fixed Assets

Fixed assets (excluding investments and Land and Building) are stated at cost less accumulated depreciation. The costs of minor additions or those costing below £1,000 are not capitalised. Depreciation is provided at rates calculated to write of the cost of each asset over its expected useful life, which in all cases is estimated at 4 years.

Depreciation of Building is calculated to write off its cost over 50 years on a straight line basis.

Investments held as fixed assets are revalued at mid market value at the balance sheet date and the gain or loss taken to the Statement of Financial Activities.

7. Taxation

As a charity, God's Vineyard Ministries is exempt from tax on income and gains falling within section 505 of the Taxes Act 1988 or s256 of the Taxation of Chargeable Gains Act 1992 to the extent that these are applied to its charitable objects. No tax charges have risen in the Charity.

God’s Vineyard Ministry’s School Of Ministry (GVM-SOM)

Introduction:

VM–SOM was commissioned in April 2011 by Dr Ezekiel Alawale as part of the continuing quest to Gfulfil the divine mandate of God’s Vineyard ministries; ‘Empowering Lives and Building Society’. The ultimate objective of the school is to ensure that ‘the man of God is perfected, thoroughly furnished unto every good work’.

The school has since graduated over 130 students, who are serving in various capacities in the Kingdom of our Lord. The school currently boasts of a number of high quality academic staff and a research board.

Course Structure:

The course structure is a modular system involving the following arrangement:

Date and Time:

The academic year of the GVM-SOM runs from May to February each year. However, as a result of the modular nature of the course, students can join the programme at any stage within the year and work through the modules.

Cost:

The only cost students are eligible to pay is £200 to cater for stationery and administrative costs. Payment can be made by instalments. The course is subsidised by God’s Vineyard Ministries.

We wish to use this opportunity to encourage everyone, who desires to play a leading role in the Kingdom and influence our society with Godly virtues to contact the leadership of the school to take advantage of this great opportunity that God has blessed us with.

Foundation School:

This is a weekly teaching session for new believers that run online and in-person, to help participants understand our identity, abilities, and responsibilities as believers. The main objective of the programme is to disciple believers to become more Christlike.

Participants also use the opportunity to ask questions about their Christian walk. Seventy five people signed up over the last academic session, 15 completed the programme, and began serving in various units and within Radical Youth and the Youth Church.

The training was equally extended to 40 Radical Youth leaders in Nottingham and Loughborough, on zoom over the summer. To enrol, please contact any of the youth church leaders or visit the church website on www.godsvineyardministries.org.uk for further details.

Discipleship School:

This is a higher level of the Foundation School, teaching about service, the various departments of the church and what it really means to be a disciple of Christ. It also teaches about the structure of the church, our doctrines, our values. It is a mandatory requirement for anyone who has just joined the church and wants to serve in a department.

Each module is usually thought in four sessions, on Tuesday nights, 7.00-9.30pm

One week breaks between modules, with a longer break from Dec to Jan

n today’s fast-evolving global marketplace, success hinges not only on academic qualifications Ibut also on a versatile set of skills that help individuals thrive in diverse environments. From technical expertise to interpersonal communication, the skills businesses seek are rapidly changin–g, and mastering them ensures employability and career growth.

The proverbial marketplace is like a building project; there are many things to consider before commencing the project. Hence, the Bible says in Luke 14:28-30 (CEV):

“28 Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. What is the fir–st thing you will do? Won’t you sit down and figure out how much it will cost and if you have enough money to pay for it? 29 Otherwise, you will start building the tower, but not be able to finish. Then everyone who sees what is happening will laugh at you. 30 They will say, ‘You started building, but could not finish the job.’”

I can boldly say that God shows us many examples of how He selected people to carry out His plan. Shall I mention Noah, Joseph, Moses, craftsmen – Bezalel and Oholiab, David, Peter, Paul, etc.? Some of these men were formally trained in advance of the assignment (Acts 7:22), some were informally trained through their personal experience (1 Samuel 17:34-37), and others by the impartation of the Spirit of God (Exodus 31:1-11). So, to be best positioned for the marketplace, skills acquisition is paramount (Proverbs 4:7 AMPC – “7 The beginning of wisdom is: get wisdom (skillful and godly wisdom)! [For skillful and godly wisdom is the

principal thing.] And with all you have gotten, get understanding (discernment, comprehension, and interpretation).”) and then trust God to guide you in the path to follow (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Here are ten key skills to develop for the modern marketplace, and why they are crucial:

Digital Literacy

With the digital transformation of businesses across all industries, digital literacy is now a fundamental requirement. This skill goes beyond using email and social media; it encompasses understanding how digital platforms, tools, and emerging technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and cloud computing work. As people of God, we have not been called to mediocrity. Prayers on their own are not enough to make you excel in the marketplace; this is not a biblical philosophy. Ecclesiastes 10:10 says:

“If the ax is dull and its edge unsharpened, more strength is needed, but skill will bring success.” This needs no further interpretation. Also, read Proverbs 6:6-11, which teaches us not to be lazy or idle.

Skill acquisition is not only in an orthodox context. The ability to adapt and be relevant in any economic situation is quite important. The recent pandemic is a good example of such. What happens to your income if your employer or business is unable to trade for whatever reason? This is worth pondering over. As Apostle Paul was a Prosecutor and learned in the law of the day, he was also a Tent Maker (Acts 18:1-4). The wisest man that ever lived counsels us to be versatile. Ecclesiastes 11:6 – NLT says:

“6 Plant your seed in the morning and keep busy all afternoon, for you don’t know if profit will come from one activity or another—or maybe both.”

In conclusion, developing key skills can empower anyone to navigate the marketplace successfully, no matter the industry or role. As the workplace continues to evolve, these skills will not only ensure employability but also foster long-term career growth and fulfilment. God bless you.

GVC MINISTRIES

God’s Vineyard Church, Leicester was birthed under the divine vision of God through the dynamic leadership of our senior pastor, Pastor (Dr) Ezekiel Alawale in October 2013. “GVC Leicester” as it’s popularly called is a vibrant and inspirational youth church. A community of sold out youths who are passionate about their Christian faith and sharing these with their sphere of influence. The church has a vision to build Christian character and values in the lives of the youths by the systematic study and examination of the word.

The church continues to grow through the years and has stabilised its presence within the student communities of Leicester and De Montfort Universities. The hunger for more of God has been unprecedented and the atmosphere of every of our services continue to herald the manifestation of the move of God. With the glory of God, this ministry has added immense value to the lives of the students over the years. Its great impact continues to be seen in the lives of the graduates as they continue to reminisce about what God did in and through their lives while on campus.

As a church we recognise that the days of the academic sojourn of the students are numbered and as such we swing into action as soon as the session starts. Apart from our Sunday services, we organise weekly discipleship meetings on the back of our evangelism and follow up efforts, bible study, prayer and counselling meetings. We tailor every of these sessions to mentoring them to live a victorious Christian life in the midst of all the vices and distraction on campus.

In January, we embarked on a 30 days fasting and prayer sessions as part of the ministries annual focus at the beginning of the year. The season presented an opportunity to prayerfully review our programmes, services and mission to the city of Leicester. Also, we were able to rededicate our lives to God afresh ahead of the new year.

Yearly, the programme has produced an atmosphere of lasting fulfilment and has become a point of testimony in the lives of the students.

Another major highlight of every year is the graduation of the final year students within us. This year, we were privileged to celebrate with 12 students and their families as we wished them the very best of God for the future. These occasions are fondly remembered to be full of joy, appreciation and testimonies.

In October, we welcomed the new students who recently just got admitted to the university. We held different fora to invite them to church and we believed many of them were blessed and encouraged with the atmosphere of our meetings as majority of them has since settled in the church.

We glorify God that our students have gone on to stand as a beacon of light in the work and market place and their exploits for Him continues to delight and encourage us. Some have even gone into ministry of the service of God and their contentment with His call continues to be a testimony. We are also delighted that we now have members who are no longer undergraduates having transitioned to postgraduate or working life while staying back in Leicester.

The last major programme of the year was our Christmas carol service. It was a graceful and wonderful time in His presence as we reminded ourselves the real reason for the season even amidst all the delightfulness of fun and feasting.

The church is forever grateful to the faithfulness of God all through the years as we continue to seek His purpose and will for our lives.

GVC LOUGHBOROUGH

THE YOUTH CHURCH:

In February 2022, the Lord led the leadership of the local church to start a weekly youth service. The GVC-Loughborough Youth Church was subsequently ANNIVERSARY DINNER & RECOGNITION NIGHT inaugurated on 13th February 2022, with about 30 students in attendance. Since then, to our great amazement and joy, the Youth Church has been growing in leaps and bounds, now recording between 60 and 80 young people in regular attendance each week; all to the glory of God.

The Youth Church services are held from 5:00-7:15 pm during University Term Times and are mainly student led. Our student members are given the opportunity to showcase their gifts and talents, planning, and leading main aspects of the service, such as Praise & Worship, Bible Studies, Coordinating, Ushering, etc.

It has been our greatest joy to see many young people accepting Christ as their Lord and Saviour and experiencing significant transformation in living for Jesus. Many have enrolled in our discipleship programmes and are experiencing continued growth in their faith. The local church also provides solid support for the Radical Youth Society at Loughborough University, which currently has a membership of over 60 students, with a weekly average attendance of about 45

THE FAMILY AND CHILDREN’S CHURCH:

Our morning family services also experienced some exciting moments. We continue to grow in numbers and in depth.

Our Family Fellowships meet up in small groups to study God’s word, pray together, engage in social activities, and visit one another. Through the fellowships the Lord has blessed our local church with strengthened

relationships.

It has been our greatest joy to see our children’s church facilitating the growth of the kids to love God and enjoy the fellowship of the believers. Kudos to our dedicated children’s teachers, who are making such invaluable input in their lives!

One important development in the year was the introduction of Teenage Bible Studies on Sunday mornings. The impact on the lives of the young ones has been phenomenal; all glory to God!

ANNIVERSARY DINNER & RECOGNITION NIGHT

On May 4th and 5th, God’s Vineyard Church, Loughborough, joyfully celebrated its annual anniversary with the theme:

The anniversary was a special moment to reflect on the journey of the church so far—the battles overcome, challenges faced, and countless lives impacted. Through it all, the Lord has remained faithful, guiding and sustaining us every step of the way.

Black-Tie Dinner Celebration (May 4th)

On Saturday, May 4th, we hosted a Black-Tie Dinner to honor and celebrate the dedication and commitment of our members and leaders. It was an evening of joy, appreciation, and deep reflection on God’s goodness.

A key highlight of the night was the recognition of the outgoing leadership team of Radical Youth Loughborough, who also played a vital role in leading the Youth Church. As a token of appreciation, they were presented with special gifts in acknowledgment of their service and dedication.

Throughout the evening, we were blessed by powerful messages shared by:

To conclude the night, Senior Pastor, Dr. Ezekiel Alawale, delivered a heartfelt message, emphasizing total surrender to God’s will. The evening ended on a powerful note with an altar call, inviting attendees to fully commit their lives to Christ.

The year 2024 in God’s Vineyard Church Derby was a wonderful year for the Church and its people. The hand of God was mighty in the midst of His people and the Church, just as the children of Israel said: “And the LORD brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, with great deeds of terror, with signs and wonders”. (see Deut. 26:8)

As a Church, reaching out to the unsaved and sharing the love of Christ in our locality was at the forefront of our endeavours. Regular monthly ‘Church Go’ evangelism was held in the year; going around the neighbourhood telling and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. As part of the Church evangelistic activities, the Easter Special Drama Event was held on Friday 29th March 2024 in the Church auditorium with about 30 people in attendance including 5 visitors.

celebration. Also known as Glory Conference, the Anniversary celebration was themed: ‘On Eagles Wings’, revealed from Deuteronomy 32:9-13. It was an awesome experience celebrating God’s faithfulness, presence, mightiness and reign over His Church majorly in the past year.

The Conference kicked off on Friday 25th October with a Musical Concert organised by the Youth Church, RY Derby and GVC Derby Choir. It was an evening of gratitude, joy, appreciation, expressive praise, worship and thanksgiving to God for His faithfulness, presence and awesome deeds among His people. About 50 people were in attendance.

Sunday the 27th of October, was the anniversary Thanksgiving Services. This

was the final day of the Conference which was an amazing experience in God’s presence with many invited guests, friends, and members of GVC Derby in attendance. The Senior Pastor of God’s Vineyard Ministries (GVM), Dr Ezekiel Alawale delivered the sermon titled: ‘On Eagles Wings’.

This great service ended with a special moment of thanksgiving, rejoicing, praising and dancing unto the Lord, followed by the cutting of the Anniversary Cake and the proclamation of blessings upon the Church, its members and the year ahead by the Senior Pastor. About 77 people were in attendance.

Truly, God has been among His people confirming His word with sings and wonders. We are very glad and joyful as a Church for all of His acts among us.

The Church had a special event tagged “Family Fun Day” on Saturday 17th August 2024 held at Stockbrook Park, Derby. This event was held to strengthen the love of Christ among His people; friends and families participated in this wonderful event, and over 50 people were in attendance.

The women’s arm of the Church known as ‘Women of Excellence’ had an insightful and impactful session. This session was a health talk on breast awareness.

The Youth Church also grew in leaps and bounds with about 40 new students attending the services in the course of the year. With the Word of God flourishing, the fellowship of the Spirit thriving and the presence of the Lord real as the youths come together to worship God.

s we conclude the year 2024, it is evident that this has been a significant period for our Achurch community. This year marks our first complete return since the Covid pandemic, during which we have observed God’s presence manifesting in extraordinary ways. From the welcoming of new members to heartfelt celebrations, this year has been characterized by growth, joy, and a revitalized sense of community.

- Celebrating Our One Year Anniversary

A key highlight of this year was the commemoration of our one-year anniversary in July. It is remarkable to reflect on the progress we have made in such a brief time. This milestone serves as a testament to God’s steadfast faithfulness and the resilience of our congregation. What started as a vision has evolved into a dynamic and flourishing community of believers. Our anniversary service was filled with joy, gratitude, praise, and worship, accompanied by a profound sense of anticipation for the future and fatherly blessings from our senior pastor, Pastor Ezekiel Alawale.

Throughout 2024, we experienced numerous significant moments that

have shaped this year. With Pastor Funmi Alawale and Pastor Femi fenojo amongst others coming to minister God’s word to the church. One of the most touching highlights was the incorporation of two new converts into our church family. Another notable occasion was International Sunday, a day set aside to honour the rich diversity that distinguishes our church. The service was vibrant, featuring powerful worship, lively dance, joyous laughter, and delightful food - truly a celebration of the beauty of God’s creation.

We also dedicated time to pray for our members returning to university, sending them forth with blessings for their academic pursuits, personal growth, and safety. This was a poignant reminder of the support and love that binds us as a community, regardless of where life leads us.

As the year came to a close, we convened for our annual Christmas dinner and Carol service - a time for fellowship, laughter, poetry, and celebrating the joy of the season. This special gathering allowed us to reflect on the birth of our Saviour while cherishing the warmth of our church family. It served as a beautiful reminder of the wonderful family that

Christ has bestowed upon GVC London.

GOD’S VINEYARD CHURCH BIRMINGHAM

e celebrated a memorable anniversary with the theme “Rooted in Christ.” WPastor Muyiwa Olubowale attended as the representative of our Senior Pastor, adding to the significance of the occasion. It was a meaningful event for several reasons: We experienced God speaking to specific issues in people’s lives, and there was a prophecy shared specifically for the Birmingham church.

The anniversary also provided an opportunity to reconnect with former members, some of whom hadn’t been with us in a while. This reconnection has encouraged several of these members to return to church.

Outreach Event: We organized an outreach event aimed at connecting with people in our neighbourhood and evangelising to them. Flyers were distributed locally to invite the community, and the event featured games and face painting for children, along with refreshments for all attendees. While the neighbourhood turnout was lower than anticipated, we still had meaningful conversations and were able to share our message with a few passersby. Additionally, the event helped strengthen the bond among church members.

Special Sunday Services for Students:

This was organised to attract students starting school in September, we transformed our October Sunday services into special events. We hosted impactful teaching sessions led by guest ministers, including our Senior Pastor, Pastor Funmi Alawale, Pastor Femi Fenojo, and Minister Blessing Oyedemi respectively. They shared insights on topics like purposeful relationships, prioritizing God, and finding purpose in one’s career. The series concluded with our Branch Pastor,

Pastor Bisi Adeyiga, who spoke on living a purposeful life. These events drew more students to our church than we’ve seen at any point this year.

Birmingham Radical Youth Rebirth: Birmingham Radical Youth group was relaunched with four new executives, who were inaugurated on October 6th and received prayers from Pastor Funmi. Since then, they have been holding biweekly meetings. Their first gathering on September 19th attracted 18 students, while the most recent meeting on October 26th had an attendance of 12 students.

In December, we celebrated a joyous season with several memorable events. The month featured a delightful Christmas carol, bringing festive cheer through worship. We also enjoyed a warm and lively family get-together, strengthening bonds and creating cherished memories.

To wrap up the year, we held a heartfelt thanksgiving service, expressing gratitude for the blessings and milestones of the past year.

GOD’S VINEYARD CHRISTIAN CENTRE ABUJA

he year 2024 began with great promise and clarity of purpose. As 2023 drew to a close, it became Tevident that God intended to elevate His people, moving us to greater heights of influence. The mandate for 2024 was to shine and perform great exploits for the Kingdom. Church Activities and Attendance: The year began with the annual January fasting and prayer program, after which regular church activities resumed, including Sunday Services held at Papal Ground and midweek studies conducted in various locations.

Attendance Overview

Attendance was commendable from the last quarter of 2023 through the first quarter of 2024. Challenges: From March to April, attendance began to decline due to a combination of spiritual and economic factors.

Corps members, professionals (medical workers, teachers, mental health experts, UNICEF staff), and pastors.

Impact: The outreach was a tremendous success and served as preparation for the mega youth rally initially planned for the last quarter.

Other Programs held in the Last quarter include Kagini Monthly Youth Neighborhood Outreach held on September 29th, 2024, a meal outreach was conducted, feeding over 300 individuals. The attendance was 137 individuals joined the subsequent Sunday service. Outcome: Launch of a monthly Youth Neighborhood Outreach in Kagini, with youth workers and volunteers undergoing training.

End-of-Year Programs: we had our Revival Sunday on the 8th of December 2024 and Pastor Labi Mebude ministered.

Testimonies:

IT Department Achievements, Graduated two cohorts in Basic Computer Literacy and Graphics Design. Handled the design and printing of church fliers, handbills, and multimedia services.

Wedding Ceremonies: One wedding conducted on Saturday, December 7th, 2024.

Childbirths: Four deliveries (five children, including twins) recorded between November and December 2024.

Conclusion: Despite challenges, 2024 was a year of shining and overcoming. God’s Vineyard Christian Centre continues to stand firm, shining brighter for the Kingdom. We look forward to greater exploits in the coming year particularly in the area of youth work.

Programs Held : To revive the spirit of the congregation and encourage attendance, the following major programs were held in the first quarter: Revival Sunday: The theme was Walking in Dominion and Authority. Held on Sunday, February 25th, 2024. Engr. Evangelist Elijah Abdulmalik ministered. Other programs held in the course of the year include Times of Refreshing in His Presence, Resurrection Gathering. Attendance for all these programs was highly encouraging.

Major Outreach: Charity Drive : We had a significant outreach event on Saturday, March 20th, 2024, at the GVCC Abuja Resource Centre in Kagini, Kubwa, FCT. our target audience were Children and young people aged 10–30 years. Attendance at the event was Over 200 and 25 volunteers, including Youth

e return glory and honor to God Almighty for all His manifold blessings on God’s Vineyard Christian Centre, Lagos. The year W2024 has been wonderful and at the same time challenging [better still, been an eye-opener to some things].

One of the reasons for our thankfulness here is for that the gate of hell did not prevail over the Church. We appreciate the support and advice of our Senior Pastor, Pastor Dr. Ezekiel Alawale who is always there for us at

every point in time, and also our leaders who have guided us through their bank of wisdom and experiences. May the good Lord bless you, Amen and Amen.

In the course of the year , we had 42 visitors who visited our church this year based on invitations from the church and friends. 9 are now members, who are very constant except when there is a need to travel.

Radical Youth: Portals of Praise [June 2024]: we bless the lord for the youth ministry, Radical Youth program in June 2024 was awesome. We give glory to God, we had 53 people in attendance and notable miracles happened, broken fellowship with God was restored, and souls were ministered to in general. Amen.

Family and Feast Sunday

Family and Feast Sunday was held in December together with our Carol Service in the year 2024 and to the glory of God, it was a success. About 50+ people were in attendance, and everybody was served both spiritual food and physical food. A music minister was invited, and the service was held in the afternoon. Glory to God.

his event was borne out of a desire to engage our children positively in the things of God rather than Tcelebrate Halloween. The idea was to expose them to godly activities and events which added more educational values rather than celebrating Halloween. It was also an opportunity for them to competitively showcase their art and craft skills by making several Christmas cards for their parents, spend good time with their peers, teachers and parents who were present to watch the movie titled lion of Judah.

For the planned duration of 3 hours, the children were all actively involved and showed a high level of interest in the expositions, activities which included dancing, crafts, drawing, colouring,

questions and answers, food , drinks and loads more. This event was paid for by the church.

OVERVIEW AND DESCRIPTIONS.

Commenced at exactly 15:00 pm on the 31st of October 2024 in the Church Auditorium teenage room with praise and worship and opening prayers, followed by an exposition on why we should not celebrate halloween, art and craft, entertainment and movie session respectively. The meeting ended at 18:15 pm with a photo session.

Out of a registered 56, the total number of children present was 45 and 10 teachers including some parents who were happy to partake.

Children were appropriately arranged

according to their age brackets and presented with the necessary safe materials needed for the activities.

The younger children who may easily loose interest in lessons were actively interested, supervised in doing their best to present colourful cards, sat quiet with smiley looks as the movie went on, eating popcorns, pizza, candies and drinking with joy.

The older children appeared happy and happier at the entrance of friends. They formed little groups, showing uniform dance steps with excitement as teachers joined, exchanging desired materials like colours and pens during the art and craft session for love’s sake, but remained highly competitive to individually present the best Christmas cards. They uniquely expressed Christmas wishes and love to their parents with drawings of snowflakes, snow man, scandalous, Christmas trees, snow street, boxes of presents, Christmas lights, written merry Christmas wishes/ love notes on cards and excellently answered questions on the exposition. Hence, shared their thoughts and what they learnt from the movie with teachers.

Parents who arrived some minutes earlier for child pick-up were privileged to join the movie session, snacked and chatted with teachers, joined in pictures and a few of them participated very much in cleaning the sanctuary.

CONCLUSION

The children, teachers and present parents remained safe for the entirety of the event. Children were positively transformed as they could boldly explain the reasons Christians should not celebrate halloween, answering questions from the movie about the life of Jesus Christ the saviour on earth.

HOLIDAY CLUB FOR CHILDREN AT GOD ’ S VINEYARD MINISTRIES, NOTTINGHAM

n August 2024, God’s Vineyard Ministries in Nottingham hosted its first-ever holiday club, welcoming forty-eight local children to an unforgettable Christian experience. I

Titled “Team Builders,” the event centered around three Bible stories designed to teach children the value of teamwork in life, as well as what it means to be part of Jesus’ team.

Through the stories of Joseph and his brothers (Genesis 37), Moses and the elders (Exodus 18), and Jesus and His disciples (Luke 6:12-17), the children learned how collaboration leads to greater achievements and how God has uniquely gifted each child with talents that complement one another, making it easier for them to work together in harmony.

The three-day event, tailored for children aged 4 to 11, was a vibrant and enriching experience held daily from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM. It was packed with activities like crafts, Bible study, games, singing, dancing, bounce sessions, and delicious treats, offering the perfect mix of fun, inspiration, and spiritual growth.

The holiday club was intentionally held during the summer holidays to provide children with a meaningful and engaging way to spend their break while fostering their faith. This impactful experience was made possible by the dedication of vetted volunteers from God’s Vineyard Ministries, who created a safe and nurturing environment for the children to explore God’s love and the profound difference He can make in their lives.

What Is Vineteens All About?

Overall, the teens appreciate the chance to grow spiritually, make new connections, and learn more about Christ. While there are some areas that could be improved, such as adding more physical activities and addressing distractions, the sense of community and the impact of the teachings shine through.

n Saturday, the teens were welcomed into the church Auditorium, marked a Oregister and given name badges with group allocations. The session started with a period of prayer and praise and worship led by some of the teens. The first session was ‘God as your guide’ by Pastor Bisi, followed by some group indoor games.

The second session was ‘God as your priority’ by Pastor Ezekiel followed by another round of indoor games. There was a break for lunch followed by an outdoor session of sports/ games

The teens returned indoors for a session with Pastor Funmi called ‘Sex, Relationships, Marriage & Jesus’ followed by a session of prayers.

This was followed by a dedicated Q&A session where the teens could send questions in anonymously.

This was not part of the summer event; however it was a special service held in the Lenton Leisure community centre. The service was coordinated by the teens – prayer, praise and worship, spoken word, games etc.

The message was delivered by Pastor Muyiwa Olubowale. 3 of the teens were prayed for and sent forth during the service: Melvin Mbazi, Sharon Mbazi and Sam Imade.

The final set of group indoor games took place followed by the final teaching session called Internet Security.

Each speaker and external helper were presented with a Thank you gift and card.

Radical Yo th: Living the Word, Leading by Example

adical Youth (RY) embodies a vibrant movement within God’s Vineyard Ministries, uniting young Rpeople across campuses in the UK in their shared mission to live out God’s Word and lead by example. Anchored in faith, fellowship, and impactful events, RY serves as a spiritual home for university students and young adults, fostering personal growth and community transformation.

Living the Word Through Worship and Encounter

The 2023/2024 academic year saw Radical Youth making a profound impact through spiritually charged events. In March, RY Trentside’s “Worship Experience: Beyond the Veil” and RY Nottingham’s “Encounter: Seek His Face” drew over 1,200 attendees combined. These gatherings were marked by fervent worship, deep reflection, and transformative encounters with God.

Together, these events led to the salvation of 75 individuals, a testament to the movement’s spiritual influence.

May continued the momentum with RY Lancaster’s “Revival: Remember Your Creator” and RY Derby’s “Ignite the Flame”, which collectively inspired 41 individuals to rededicate their lives to Christ. These worship nights brought together diverse believers, emphasizing unity and the power of shared faith.

Building Leaders for Tomorrow

Leadership development is at the heart of RY’s mission. The Youth Ministry Leadership Training in September 2024 brought

together 71 leaders from 10 regions, both in person and online. The sessions, led by esteemed pastors, covered practical and spiritual topics such as Bible study, ministry effectiveness, and overcoming stress. Feedback highlighted the event’s success in equipping leaders for their roles, with plans underway for follow-up sessions to ensure continuous growth.

Leading by Example: RY Week and Beyond

The annual RY Week (June 4-9, 2024) celebrated the end of the academic year with a dynamic mix of fellowship, worship, and celebration. Highlights included:

Final Years’ Dinner: A time of reflection and prayer for graduates entering new seasons.

RY Praise Night: Featuring heartfelt performances and the beloved Mass Choir.

Sports Day and BBQ: A fun-filled day fostering unity and fellowship.

RY Ball and Awards Night: With over 200 attendees, the event recognized regional and individual contributions, celebrating Lancaster and Loughborough as Region of the Year.

What motivated you to become a Radical Youth intern?

RY was one of the defining parts of my undergraduate career- I was the first person to join my region in my first-year cohort and raved about it to all my friends. As a place that did so much for me, it was not that surprising that God spoke to me about giving back through this year of service. When I received the word for the Holy Spirit as an exec, I knew that it was the right next step, and I am glad for the obedience!

What does your role involve, and how does it contribute to the ministry’s mission?

My role involves working under Pastor Labi to run the activities of RY throughout the academic year and has a great variety. One day I can be travelling to regions to give the word, the next I am sorting out administrative work and the next I am praying alongside execs who might need some support. As well as my direct work as the RY intern, I of course am on hand to support overall general ministry needs for GVM as required.

How has your experience in Radical Youth prepared you for this role?

This is my 5th year as part of the ministry, and I have served in every year I have been here in different avenues, so I think that has been helpful. Definitely, being Lancaster’s President last year gave me a really good foundation to understand what execs need to thrive and I have been able to use that knowledge to improve things for the Presidents and their teams this year.

What’s one thing you’re excited to achieve or learn during your internship?

I have really enjoyed doing the protocol and management side of things with Pastor Wale that you do not get exposed to as a student.

What’s one lesson or value from your personal faith journey that you bring into this role?

Definitely that my service must come from a place of overflow. This role is very intense and truly only God can strengthen me through so it’s a reminder to stay completely reliant on Him.

How will you encourage other youth to partner with RY vision before or after they graduate?

I would absolutely tell anyone who has been through RY to intentionally sit back and take stock of the impact it has had on their lives. If you do that and feel the nudge of the Holy Spirit, don’t ignore it! It doesn’t necessarily have to be a full year of service either. RY needs our support in many aspects with prayer, service and financial support.

So whether you can offer yourself up to serve in any capacity, set up a standing order for a financial donation or just say a prayer anytime comes to mind, it is all conducive to the Kingdom work taking place.Trust me, you won’t regret your decision

What motivated you to become a God’s Vineyard Ministries intern?

I wanted to give back and be a benefit to the church. This was the first church I came to when I started at Nottingham and has felt like home ever since. I would spend a lot of time here, serving in departments and coming to service, and church honestly felt like a safe space. So when it came time to choose where I would do my placement year, I had the God-given assurance that it would be here.

And I am glad it was! I learned a lot, got to build many connections and actually did give back. I enjoyed the opportunity to help plan the events and work behind the scenes on things I had benefited from since 1st year, whether it be planning RY Week to serving. Now I am back again, ready to serve once more! I wanted to continue to build on the work and systems I started last year and to continue to help the church run. Next time you are in church, say thank you to the staff - they work hard for you and Jesus!

What does your role involve, and how does it contribute to the ministry’s mission?

My role is mainly administration and finance, so processing information and ensuring necessary action is taken. I work closely with the Chief Administrator, Pastor Wale and also Pastor Funmi. I also help out around the church, whether it be events or other odd jobs that arise. I also support when events are happening in a variety of roles.

The events and conferences. I enjoy the energy of the lead up, the powerful prayer and fasting sessions and the conferences themselves. Wow.

I really appreciate that I get to see how everything is prepared from the church office, the protocol and administrative

perspective, ensuring that everyone has an excellent time and troubleshooting when necessary, particularly when things don’t go as planned.

Happiest memory so far?

My favourite times are when we break bread. I remember when I finished my placement year, I had a celebratory meal with the pastors and it was great how we were eating rice while watching the football. That was a really nice time. Go Arsenal!

What’s a key lesson or value that you would like to share?

Guard your heart! With everything, ensuring you have a heart posture of humility is key. Despite the pressures of life, continuously seeking God for a pure heart is key and committing to looking like Jesus. I have really enjoyed the song “Fill Me Up” by Cece Winans as it always reminds me that God is with me and I can run to Him if things get heavy. He said to “cast your burdens onto Him”.

The Youth of today are the world’s foundation of tomorrow - Pastor Derrick Osaze

’m often asked ‘where my passion for young people stems from’. To answer that question, I would have Ito do so in two parts. For part one I’d have to go back to what I call the beginning of this journey which was me becoming a football coach aged 16. This was something that started as a

hobby to amass some voluntary hours to successfully complete the NCS (National Citizen Service) programme I was in the middle of at the time.

Fast forward five years, six coaching qualifications later, jobs with Millwall FC, Tottenham Hotspur FC and Arnprior FC in Canada, I realised that football was only a medium that helped me realise that my real passion was working with and helping young people maximise their potential and be the best version of themselves. I was now certain that I didn’t desire to pursue a career in professional coaching, despite having numerous opportunities to do so.

In May 2015 during my coaching contract in Canada, I would hear God clearly tell me that my journey in coaching had come to an end, something that gave me

an incredible amount of peace. I would then begin to zone in on my greater calling within ministry and my passion for young people. Over the next four years I would do a number of Youth related job roles, some of which included; youth mentoring, facilitating school workshops and sitting on the board of trustees of the Hyson Green Youth Club.

Looking back I can see how God used my experience in coaching and working with Young people to prepare me for a future in Youth Ministry. My journey into ministry was far from conventional to say the least. I started attending GVM Youth church in October 2014, funnily enough, I was told about GVM in my first year of university in 2012, as I had some friends from home in London who attended there and Radical Youth. I kept saying I would attend ‘next week’! Two years had gone by and I would finally attend GVM Youth church after rededicating my life to Christ. Just two months later in December 2014, during a GVM night vigil service is where God revealed to me that I would become a Pastor, and be called to Ministry.

This was something I never desired or had planned for but I knew I would ultimately follow God’s will for my life regardless of my desires. I would then become the Radical Youth (RY) Trentside President for the year 2015/16. I would then serve as one of four RY interns for a year during 2016/17. It was during that year God would reveal to me that He was positioning me within the Youth Ministry long term. I would discuss this with the Senior Pastor who prayerfully guided and supported me through my journey.

Church leadership in 2016. I was ordained as a minister in 2018, and a Pastor in 2024 and as of September 2023 to date I serve as the Lead Pastor of GVM Youth Church. I also work full-time as the Black Student Sport Officer at the University of Nottingham, where a large number of the students I work with are members of the ministry. I am also a professional boxer, a sport I first took up aged 15.

I’ve been married to my amazing wife Mrs Tope Osaze for over seven years and we’re blessed with two beautiful sons; Malachi (4 years old) and Josiah (1 year old).

I’ve titled this the article ‘The Youth of today are the world’s foundation of tomorrow’. Why? That is because if I had to, in one sentence, summarise the importance of Youth in the world and especially the church, this short statement would depict it perfectly. Youth is often described as the period between childhood and adult age. The Office for National Statistics: Uses the term “youth” to describe people aged 13–29. The importance of youth in the Church cannot be overstated enough. Young people are not only the future of the Church, but also its present foundation.

Here are some key reasons why I believe youth play a vital role in the church:

1. Energy, Passion and Enthusiasm

Youth bring energy, passion, and enthusiasm to the Church. Their zeal for the faith can inspire and rejuvenate the entire congregation. They often have a deep desire to serve, learn, and engage in the work of the Church.

2. Future Leaders of the Church

Young people are the next generation of leaders, ministers, pastors, teachers, evangelists in the Church. Their involvement in Youth orientated ministries such as GVM helps to prepare them for leadership roles in the future. Developing their faith, character and leadership skills is crucial for the future of the Church.

3. New Perspectives

Young people often bring fresh ideas and perspectives that can help the Church stay relevant, progressive and responsive to changing societal and cultural contexts. Their unique challenges, experiences, and ways of thinking can inspire creative solutions to the Church’s mission in the modern world.

4. Faith and Spiritual Growth

Youth are more open to learning and exploring their relationship with God, and when they are engaged effectively, their faith can deepen significantly. The Church has a responsibility to help nurture the spiritual growth of young people. A strong foundation in faith during youth can lead to lifelong commitment to the Church.

5. Community and Fellowship

Youth are a central part of the Church community, and their involvement creates a sense of fellowship among members of all ages. The younger generation can help foster intergenerational relationships, enriching the entire Church body.

6. Mission and Outreach

Many youth are passionate about social justice, charity work, and outreach. They often have a strong sense of

compassion and a desire to serve others. Their involvement in mission work and outreach programs helps spread the Church’s message and care to the wider world, especially in areas such as community service, environmental action, and humanitarian efforts.

7. A Connection to Culture

Young people are often more connected to current trends, technology, and culture. Their understanding of these elements allows the Church to adapt its outreach and communication methods, especially in connecting with others outside the faith. Youth can serve as a bridge between the traditional practices of the Church and the modern world.

8. Preserving and Sharing the Faith

The Church’s message is meant to be passed down from generation to generation. If youth are actively engaged, they become instrumental in passing on the faith to others, including their peers and the next generation. Their enthusiasm for evangelization can help grow the Church.

9. Involvement in Church Activities

Youth involvement in Church activities (worship, volunteering, music ministries, sports, etc.) and fellowships such as Radical Youth provide opportunities for young people to develop various skills, including leadership, teamwork, communication and service to others.

10. Building a Stronger Church

When youth are active in the Church, they contribute to the overall strength of the faith community. Their commitment can inspire older members and help create a multi-generational environment where

The GVM Youth Church is an active extension of the Ministry’s vision as the Youth are at the heart of this vision and so we as the Youth Church leadership with the God’s grace upon us, do as much as we can to ensure that are guiding our youth to develop a deeper relationship with God. We are also ensuring that we as much as we can facilitate an environment that breeds healthy relationships between the ministry and its members to ensure we are meeting the needs of our young people, not only spiritually, but physically, emotionally and mentally. Lastly we are making sure that we help to positively affect our society through the Gospel and create a positive impact in our communities.

We attempt to achieve the above in many different ways, here are some of the amazing things that the Youth Church is currently doing;

FOUNDATION SCHOOL

The aim of the foundation school lies within the title, it is to help provide young people and new believers in the ministry build a solid foundation for an empowered life in Christ. It also allows learning through healthy discussion where young people are free to ask questions. Sessions take place twice a week (Tuesdays & Thursdays, 4-6pm) and focus on key teachings such as;

What is the central theme of the bible? What is God’s purpose in salvation? How does God achieve His purpose for us in salvation?

Prayer, Fasting and Giving.

PRAYER

At GVM Prayer is a key foundation of all

pads, winter gloves, hand sanitizers and bible scriptures. The bags were packed in church by over 25 GVM leaders and workers and then taken out into Nottingham city centre and local surrounding areas. This is something that the Youth church plans to do regularly in future.

Evangelism Workshop

GVM Youth Church hosted its first evangelism workshop this year, led by our Outreach and Evangelism leader. The workshop focused on exploring on many key questions including;

YOUNG ADULTS COMMUNITY

The Young Adults (YA) community brings together 21-35 year olds in Nottingham in fellowship. The age range of 18–35 is generally considered to be young adulthood. People in this age group are often pursuing higher education, starting careers, and forming families. YA provides a platform where young adults can have meaningful conversations, forge new friendships and network, while deepening their relationship with Christ. They meet up bi-weekly and also connect on a WhatsApp community platform.

REFUEL - Daily 15 minute group zoom prayer session, Monday to Fridays at 9pm

WEEKLY BIBLE PLAN

The Youth church has an YouVersion Bible App account (GVM Youth Church) where we select a different Bible Plan devotional each week in line with the ministry’s theme of the month, which encourages our members to dive into the word and complete the plan with other fellow members of the ministry. The app has functions that allows members to connect, discuss and share their daily thoughts on each plan and see each other’s progress.

rom February 16th to 18th, the much-anticipated Weekend Away at Cefn Lea brought together nearly F400 delegates, including a record 60 alumni, for an unforgettable time of spiritual enrichment, fellowship, and divine encounters.

The weekend began with excitement as delegates arrived and settled into their chalets, greeted by a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The evening set the tone for the days ahead, as worship and prayers prepared hearts for a powerful experience.

Saturday: A Day of Wisdom, Transformation, and Divine Encounters

Saturday was a day of deep spiritual impartation and joyful fellowship. The morning started with a hearty English breakfast, energizing delegates for the powerful sessions ahead. Throughout the day, inspiring sermons and teachings were delivered by Senior Pastor Ezekiel Alawale, Pastor Femi Fenojo, Pastor Joe Nipah, Dr. Bayo Fapahunda, and Pastor Funmi Alawale. These sessions provided biblical insight on faith, wisdom, spiritual growth, and the power of the Holy Spirit. Delegates engaged in these teachings, taking notes and reflecting on their application in daily life.

As worship resonated through the hall, many experienced a deep personal connection with God and were uplifted by the move of the Holy Spirit. Hearts were stirred, faith was strengthened, and lives were forever transformed through this powerful session.

Sunday: A Grand Celebration of Faith

Sunday morning began with morning devotion and worship, preparing delegates for the final service of the weekend. The message, delivered by Senior Pastor Ezekiel Alawale, focused on forgiveness, renewal, and God’s boundless grace. The service was a beautiful culmination of the weekend’s spiritual journey, celebrating the record number of baptisms and the incredible

impact of the past few days. Following the roast dinner, delegates gathered for the much-anticipated group presentations. Seventeen groups took the stage, each presenting a creative and insightful take on the Fruits and Gifts of the Spirit. This time of sharing was both inspiring and engaging, reinforcing the lessons of the weekend in a dynamic and memorable way.

A Weekend to Remember

Weekend Away 2024 was truly a time of spiritual revival, deep fellowship, and divine empowerment. Every moment was filled with wisdom, joy, and the undeniable presence of God. As we reflected on this incredible experience, we eagerly anticipated Weekend Away 2025, where God did even greater things!

In the afternoon, there was an opportunity to pause from the structured sessions and choose from a variety of activities. Some took part in the prayer walk through the scenic Welsh hills, spending time in personal reflection and connection with God. Others engaged in sports and inflatable games, strengthening bonds with fellow delegates in an atmosphere of joy and camaraderie. A monumental highlight of the weekend occurred during this time—over 50 individuals publicly declared their faith through baptism, a powerful and emotional moment as the community celebrated their decision. The

1. HOPE INTO ACTION:

Day of Prayer and Fasting: Since the start of the year 2024, the ministry has been involved in several activities of the Hope Into Action (HIA), including

During the period under review, the role of GVM in the HIA programme has been prominent. Six members of the ministry have signed up to serve as volunteers in the property purchased by an investor to accommodate people who are accepted by the HIA team. Their main role is to befriend the tenants and support them pastorally and in other practical ways, offering us a great opportunity to share the gospel with them.

After signing up for the programme over a year ago, it is pleasing to confirm that a property has now been purchased and fully renovated. GVM has contributed in immense ways in furnishing the property. The team of volunteers and other leaders, including the senior pastor have since undergone comprehensive training organised by the HIA team.

Currently, residents are being considered and our services will be required in the next few weeks or months.

Pastor Ezekiel and Pastor Joe have been involved in the running of the scheme and have had opportunities to share the values of the scheme on media channels including the BBC, Premier Christian Radio and UCB radio. The impact of the scheme is already being felt in reducing anxiety and hopefully helping to bridge the gap between the police and presumed offenders.

Other Activities and Achievements of the MBLC with the Police:

• Quarterly MBLC – Police Meetings: Addressing issues such as over-policing, stop & search, negative disparities within the police force, growing mistrust between the police and the black communities, etc.

3. MBLC & NOTTINGHAM TRENT UNIVERSITY BLACK HISTORY EVENT:

On Wednesday 16th October, MBLC organised a networking event under the theme MBLC & NTU Collaborative Networking Event: Building Social and Cultural Capital for Black Communities. The objective was to facilitate the building of socio-cultural connections and strengthen engagements and relationships with black communities in Nottingham, and other organisations that are championing the cause for racial equality in our region.

The event was hosted by the NTU and brought together over 50 community leaders, church leaders, young people and heads of various organisations. The MBLC used the opportunity to network with key stakeholders to create collaborative partnerships to develop inclusive policies around racial inequality issues.

Several organisational leaders were given the chance to present the progress that are being made by their organisations on race inequality issues.

2. THE MBLC & POLICE:

Custody Pastoral Support:

Since this ground-breaking initiative between the Nottinghamshire Police and the MBLC was launched at the Nottingham Custy Suites on 7th May this year, the Police custody pastoral support scheme has given room for pastors and other leaders, who have been vetted by the police to go into the custody suite to provide pastoral support to arrested young

4. CHURCH OF ENGLAND SCHOOL GOVERNORS SCHEME:

Through the inspirational leadership of the senior pastor, we had held several meetings with the Church of England Education sector on having black people serving in their schools as governors.

On Tuesday, 15th Oct GVM hosted a delegation from the Church of England Education sector in the county at GVC Nottingham,

with over 20 members of the church in attendance, at an information evening to educate participants on the benefits of becoming a school governor.

Following the session, 17 people have signed up to initiate the process to become school governors in the COE schools within the county, an initiative which is said to be the first of its kind in the nation.
