OUR AIMS

Our School is designed to provide Polish children and young people living in Southampton and surrounding area with an opportunity to learn the Polish language and culture. The primary aim of the School is to promote and maintain the Polish language, customs, traditions, and cultural heritage among the Polish diaspora.

Specifically, the aims of Fryderyk Chopin Polish Saturday School in Southampton includes:

  1. Language acquisition: To teach the Polish language to children who may not have had the opportunity to learn it in their daily lives and those who may want to improve their language skills and knowledge. We aim to provide a first class education in native language for boys and girls from the age of 5 to 16.

  2. Cultural education: To teach Polish history, traditions, customs, and values to the students.

  3. Preservation of identity: To help students maintain their Polish identity and connection to their heritage.

  4. Socialization: To provide students with the opportunity to meet and interact with other Polish children and young people, thus creating a sense of community.

  5. Preparation for future education and career opportunities: To prepare students for further education, including studying abroad in Poland, and to provide them with an advantage in career opportunities that involve Polish language and culture.

We seek to provide a structured educational environment that develops our pupils!" capabilities, competences and skills. We promote the academic, moral and physical development of our pupils through our academic curriculum, sporting and other activities. We provide an educational environment where each student can develop and fulfil his or her potential, building their self-confidence and inculcating a desire to contribute to the wider community. In so doing, we prepare our pupils for the opportunities, responsibilities and experience of later life and support the development of Polish language and culture among the diaspora, ensuring that the younger generations have a strong connection to their heritage and language.

Our objectives are set to reflect our educational aims and the ethos of the School. It is important to us that we maintain and enhance the academic success of the School.
