After making appropriate enquiries, the Trustees have a reasonable expedation that the Charity has adequate
r850urces lo continue in operational existence for the for8s88abl8 hJtur8. For this reason, they continue to adopt
the going concern basis in preparing the financial statements. Further details regarding Ihg adoption of the
going con￿rn basis can be found in the accounting policies.
b. Resorv8s policy
The purpose of Ihls reservgs policy is to onsure the financial stability of Save an Orphan and its ability to carry
out ils ¢harilabl8 mission in th8 fac8 of unfor8sa8n 8v8nts or frnanoal challenges. The reserves provide
safeguard, allowing the charity to contlnue its operations. maintain essential services, and adap* to changes in
funding or operational demands. The pollcy aligns wth the charitys strategic goals to ensure long-term
sustainability and operational r8sili&nce.
Save an Orphan aims to maintain a reserve of £150,000. This amount represents approximatety Ihree month5
of fLxed operational costs, which will provide aLlequale PTOt8ction against any short-tem disnjptions in incorn8 or
unexpected expenditure. The reserves are based on three months of esttmated fixed operating expenses.
ensuring Ihal essential actiwties and services can continue in the event of an economic downtum. unexpected
loss of income, or oth8r financial challengos. A number of charity contracts have a three month carbcellation
claus8.
The charity benefits from a stable income stream, derived from multiple 8ource8 such 85 direct debits and
general donations. This diversified In¢ome b88e provides securlty but does not elimSnate the need for reseNes
to cover any potential short-term irKome fluctuations or delay8 in receipt of funds.
Al present, the Charity has no slgnificanl long-term ￿mMitments. such as leases or service contracts, beyond
those with a temiination notice period of three to six months. This flexibility reduces the risk of large. Unfor&￿￿
finanual obligations and reinforces the stability provided by the r85erves.
The charity conducts regular reviews of income and expenditure lo ensur8 pnJd&nt financi81 management. The
tharity has navigated economic downtums succassfully and continuas to grow. The management team is
¢xFmmitted to ongoing finanaal risk assessmgnl to ensure that rgservos remain suffiuent to cover unexpected
¢h811eng8s.
The reserve level and this policy wll be reviawed annually by the Board of Trustees, ensuring that M remalns
aligned with the charitls financial needs, opprational ￿Sts, and long-tsmi objeclivgs.
At the year end 31 December 2023 the charity has totsl reserves of £244,031 12022.. £29,367 deficill, with
£337,549 12022- £18,338} ropresonting restrict8d funds to be &xp8nd8d on em8rg8ncy relief. and a negatwe
general funds balance of £113.518 12022.. £47.705). Genefal fvnds are expected to be surplus in the current
year. as a rasult of additional income as the charity continues to grow. The 2023 expenditure on general funds
includes additional investmerbt relating lo mark8ting and donor feedback, as set out in the Trustees. Report.

This fund represents donations made by the public to provide relief to people facing emergency and
hardship in Palestine, Pakistan, Syria and Yemen. These funds ale expended on these projects and
appeals. as displayed on the charity's website.
Qurbanl
Giving Qurbani is a sacred act of worship highly encouraged by Allah. Every year during the Islamic
month of Dhul Himah, Muslims around the world slaughter an animal - a goat. sheep. cow or camel- to
reflect the Prophet Ibrahim's willingness lo sacrifice his son Ismail, for the sake of God. After the animal
has been sacrificed, ils meal is then distributed to those most in need.
This ftjnd represents Qurbani giving to the Charity. and is expended lo provide orphans and their
communits'es with a special Eid experience, by delivering meat to families across Asia and Africa.
