Festival of Chichester

Annual Trustees Report 2022

The Festival of Chichester is self financed and made up of unpaid Volunteers. Our aim is to break even or make a small surplus each year. The expenditure for 2022 was 28% more than 2021 at £10,821 with the return of the printed brochure, increased advertising and more money made available for the Festivals web site. Income was up by 33% at £9,286 this is higher than 2021 due to a bigger grant received from Chichester City Council and increased advertising revenue within the brochure but slightly down on pre Pandemic levels.

This year was a return to a near normal Festival since the Pandemic with around 100 live events either online or more importantly to live audiences. The final financial outrun for this year’s Festival was a deficit of £1,535 in our 10th year

Festival of Chichester

Annual Trustees Report 2022

With the current economic backdrop It's more important than ever for individuals and stakeholders to help financially support the annual Festival as we look forward to entering the next decade.

The Festival is a non-profit making, registered charity (number 1167936) organised by a board of voluntary trustees drawn from the local media, the Cathedral, arts organisations, businesses and local politics.

This years Festival presented over 100 events between mid-June and mid-July, covering music (classical, jazz, folk, blues, rock, world and pop), theatre, spoken word, art exhibitions, cinema, walks and tours, and much more.

Our full colour brochures are delivered throughout the city and surrounding region in West and East Sussex, Hampshire and into Surrey. We distributed 17,500 copies. Our box office is located in the Novium/TIC, Tower Street, Chichester.

Our website carries full listings, supported by a dedicated social media team. We hold high-profile launch events for box office sales and the opening of the Festival at the Novium and on Cathedral Green.

We receive substantial support from Chichester City Council and the Chichester Observer newspaper series, which runs stories, features and supplement information about the Festival.

The final financial outrun for this year’s Festival was a deficit of £1,535 in our 10th year. We need your help and ideas to raise funds.
