purchase textbooks to help us with our
teaching and the UASC we teach are
encouraged to keep these books to aid their
language skills when they move into the

has a set of online teaching resources which
volunteers can use and which they are

whole.|Para 1.20|Until November Kent Kindness was
providing lessons on Mondays to Thursdays
at the 2 Reception Centres in West Kent.
These lessons were aimed at two levels of
ability, Beginners and Intermediates, and
were always very well received.
Due to changes overseen by KCC these
lessons were stopped in November, for 2
months. The changes were due to the
opening of more Reception Centres
throughout Kent and the employment of a
Higher-Level Teaching Assistant, HLTA, at
each Centre. This was partly because the
Reception Centres were all Ofsted
Registered and Ofsted expected teaching to
be led by KCC employed staff.
Much negotiation took place and gradually
our volunteers were permitted to return to
teaching, but only when there were enough
boys in the 2 West Kent centres for| everyone to teach. Eventually it was agreed the volunteers could teach on 2 mornings a week in the 2 Centres where we had taught all the resident UASC for 12+ years. To ensure some parity between all the Reception Centres in Kent the charity began to finance outings for UASC from all the Reception Centres plus the 2 Children’s Homes which had been opened. ## **Additional information (optional)** You may choose to include further statements where relevant about: |Achievements against

was struggling to provide education as per
our aims. The staff and UASC were always
grateful for those lessons we could provide
but these were a lot fewer than our aims.
The newly opened Centres were extremely
grateful to be included in the charity’s offers
of funded outings. These outings were a
bonus to the UASC in residence at these

Some of our volunteers and supporters also
make monthly donations. These are

we use when teaching the UASC plus to
offer outings for the UASC at all the Centres.
These are our main aims.
If we find we have what the treasurer
considers are excess funds the charity
contacts the Centres and offers to buy extra
things for the UASC, such as Table Football

Another risk could be misappropriation of
funds. There has been no misappropriation
of funds since Kent Kindness first began 12+
years ago. The trustees check all income
and expenditure at our meetings which

Responsibilities and basis of report As the trustees of the Charity you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act,). I report in respect of my examination of the Charity s accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. Independent examiner's statement I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect.. (1) accounting records were not kept in respect of the Charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or (2) the accounts do not accord with those records. I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
