Part of Aired81e Methodist Circuit, which is part of the Yorkshire Wesl District of the Methodist Church, which in turn is accountable to the Melhodisl Conferenée Decision Making: Craven Methodist Church Council is the decision-making body responsible for the charity. 11 meets in the autumn and spring and as necessary al other limes to guide the mission and business of the Church. Vision and purpose: Craven Melhodisl Church adopted the Vision and Purpose of Airedale Methodist Circuit, which Is based on The Methodist W8y of Lrfe". We are God'g people here, listening for God's voice, worshipping, caring, encouraging faith experiences and taking action to build God's Kingdom in a variety of ways. Worship The Church exists to increase awareness of God's presence and to celebrate God's love. We are commilled lo making worship inclusive, welcoming and accessible for all across the circuit. We are encouraging prayer, and seeking new opportunities for prayer experiences. We are encouraging people lo notice God alive and al work, both in the Bible and in the World today. Learning and Caring The Church exists to help people to grow and learn as Christians. through mutual support and care. • We offer care lo the families of our churches. and lo the people of the communities around us. We encourage opportunities lo learn more about our faith. We are commilled lo hospilalily and generosity. Servi The Church exists lo be a good neighbour to people in need and lo challenge injustice. We are ready lo offer support lo help the needs of our communities, and people of the wider world. We are seeking ways of actively caring for creation. We ore ready and willing to challenge injustice wherever we see it.
Evangelism The Church exists lo make more followers of Jesus Christ. . We are encouraging a willingness among our church people lo speak of their own experience of love of God. We are committed lo living in a way that draws others lo Jesus. We are seeking ways of sharing our faith with others. In all these things, we want to be a blessing within and beyond God's Church, for the Iransfomation of the world. Public Benefit.. The Trustees have had regard lo the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit. Craven Methodist Church carries out a range of activities in pursuance of ils mission. The Trustees consider that these aclivilies, summarised below, provide benefit lo those who are members of the Circuit through the local Methodist churches and to the wider community. ACHIEVEMENTS OFTHE YEAR Worship, pastoral care and mission activities took place under the guidance of Rev Clare Stainsby the minister. supported by many volunteers including local preachers, worship leaders, pastoral visitors and stewards. Regular worship services were held in the dTfferenl church buildings, with many shared services for the whole Church lo come together. These offered vibrant and joyful opportunities to share faith and develop closer relations and also to experience dtfferenl styles of worship. People were encouraged to join in events in each other's chapels, including the full programme of activities around Christmas and Easter. anij youth and children's activities. Oulreach activities across the congregations included regular prayer groups, coffee mornings. parent and toddler group, a Mainly Men group offering companionship and a Thursday Club in Silsden that includes support for those with mobility issues or memory loss. There was continued engagement with A Rocha's Eco Church accredilalion scheme in line with The Methodist Church's eommilment to Nel Zero by 2030, with Silsden having gold status. Th1s included positive engagement with the local community by hosting a Repair Café. Silsden has also been selected for signrficanl District support for its project to install heat pumps. The congregations continued to work closely together with regular shared services and activities. Following the earlier closure of their building. members from Co1ng worshipped with other congregations. As part of the Circuit's Bright Hope for Tomorrow vision plan, seeking a sustainable structure for future mission, the Church prepared for Sl Peter's in Cross Hills beMIng a Project Cenlre, with Managing Trusteeship of the property handed over to the Circuit after the year-end. Plans are developing towards a regular drop-in session for young people lo meet a local need. It was agreed that the Eastburn Methodist sile would close in 2026, with thanks for ils lrfe and faithful witness over many years. The Church continues to seek God's guidance on the best ways to fulfil its calling.going forwards. FINANCIAL REVIEW The Statement of Fin8nci81 Activities slTrows the total reserves al 31 August 2025 were £213,686 (compared with £210,378 in 20241, of which £12.308 were restricted for internal organisation5 that report lo Church Council (£14,491 in 20241. Total Income for the year lo 31 August 2025 was £182,702 (£200,509 in 2024} of which £4,145 relaled.to intemal organisations {£5,968 in 2024}. Expenditure for the same period was £179.3931£199,814 in 20241 of which £6.328 was for internal organisalions {£6,254 in 20241. Over811 the Church's finances remain satisfactory wth the closing balance a little higher than the balance at the start of the year. The Church is very grateful for the continued faithful and generous giving of ils mernbers and friends.
