Providing quality homes and work experience for adults with learning difficulties Registered Charity No. 1167878

Friends of Embark TRUSTEES REPORT 2025 (for FY2024/25)

Friends of Embark has been able to continue providing a woodworking experience when possible. Due to a period of recovery for one of the Trustees from a serious health condition activities have been somewhat curtailed this year; however, we have managed to get back to providing the woodworking workshop in the latter part of the year.

Due to our fixed costs and limited sales, we have seen our expenses outweigh our income this year however, the charity is still in a good financial position with a healthy bank balance due to generous donations in previous years. We were also very grateful for a donation this year from The Catenian Association.

We have invested in more project materials and filtration equipment for our laser cutting tool mainly in relation to health and safety. We have been experimenting with new products with this new tool to diversify our range and plan to have new products to build and sell in the next financial year.

I am happy to report that we were also able to make a grant to the adults with learning difficulties supported by Embark, to cover another year’s National Trust membership.

Funding

Although it has been another challenging year, Friends of Embark remains in a healthy financial position thanks to previous donations from St Wilfrid’s School and a donation this year of £673 from an ex-pupil via The Catenian Association.

Our sales from products were down from last year at £90.

We will be looking for further fundraising opportunities in the coming year, particularly to upgrade our PC that is approaching end of life support.

Way forward

We look forward to continuing providing the woodworking experience project again next year and using our new laser tool to diversify our product range and to keep the project interesting, for our wonderful adults with learning difficulties.
