Friends of Embark TRUSTEES REPORT 2023 (for FY2022/23)
Friends of Embark has been able to continue providing a woodworking experience, when possible, throughout the year although attendance rather erratic due to staff shortages and periods of ill-health. We have also been able to support the Yews honouring our room bookings even though it has sometimes not been possible to attend at short notice.
Sadly, Dan R, one of our expert painters, has also left the Embark service during the year. We wish him well for the future. We must also thank Larry and Janet for their support to Friends of Embark managing stalls and making birdbox kits. Most recently they also managed to secure a donation from a firm of solicitors that has significantly boosted our funds. Janet and Larry have decided to step down as Trustees this year.
We had sold all our stock last year through our on-line shop but were able to build up a new stock of products during the autumn that allowed us to have a successful Christmas market.
Funding
The two main events of the year during this time were a Hannah Jennings running the Brighton Marathon and raising over £400 in sponsorship. Great job! Thank you, Hannah. A similar figure was also raised through sales and Donations.
As mentioned above, we have also been given a very generous donation of4298.71 from Solicitors Mason and Beer in East Grinstead.
Although we have all had another challenging year Friends of Embark remains in a healthy financial position thanks to the fantastic support we have received from our supporters
Way forward
We look forward to continuing providing the woodworking experience project again next year and we are also looking into the possibility of diversifying our product range to keep the project interesting along with new fundraising opportunities.
