Holywell Evangelical Church Charity Commission Trustee’s report for the period 6th April 2021 to 5th April 2022. The financial report is for the same period.

Holywell Evangelical Church (Charity Number 1167853) registered with the Charity Commission on 27th June 2016.

The church building is on Halkyn Street, Holywell, in the county of Flintshire, North Wales. CH8 7TX

The church’s governing document and constitution were submitted to the Charity Commission when the church registered as a charity.

During the year reported there were no serious incidents.

Covid 19 continued to be an issue during parts of this reporting period. As a Church we continued to apply all mandatory and voluntary measures to reduce the spread of the virus. Risk assessments were undertaken as legally required on a regular basis as guidance and/or regulations changed as issued by central government and the local authority, Flintshire County Council. We also continue to be encouraged that Christian folk we know from Germany; Switzerland, and the USA were/are regular listeners of the sermons.

Services on the Lord’s Day and the mid week Bible study and prayer meeting are recorded, audio and video. These are published soon after the service/meeting on Sermon Audio on the internet. All recordings are available to anyone who wishes to hear/view/download them. Sermon Audio keeps all sermons historically for download by any person.

We are thankful to God that we, as a church were able to continue hearing sermons from our Pastor and others Christian ministers during these Covid times.

The objects of the charity: The principal object of the charity is the advancement of the Christian faith according to Baptist principles and in accordance with the Basis of Faith as stated in Schedule 1. The charity may also carry out other charitable purposes in the United Kingdom and/or other parts of the world.

During the year reported the church has been faithful to her mandate in various ways:

  1. The provision of two public worship services (including prayer, the reading of God’s Word, the preaching of a sermon, and sung praise) every Sunday.

  2. The administration of the Lord’s Supper twice per month. Note, for the majority of this reporting period this was not possible on the grounds of Health and Safety, and of course Government guidance and legislation, referencing Covid 19 restrictions.

  3. The holding of a prayer meeting and Bible study every Thursday evening..

  4. Monthly Christian tract distribution and preaching on Saturday morning in Holywell high street.

  5. The holding of a monthly fellowship meal held on a Sunday to which all are welcome. On occasions this has sometimes been held on a Saturday evening. It is normal that open air preaching takes place the day before the fellowship meal where an open invitation to attend the free Sunday Lunch is given to all who pass by in the high street of Holywell town.

  6. The holding of a monthly over 50s tea held at the church, open to all.

  7. The holding of an annual bonfire night and fireworks display, together with the provision of free food and drinks. This is open to all. Normal attendance is between 50 to 80 persons. For this reporting period these occasions did not take place.

  8. The holding of a monthly Christian service at an elderly resident’s home in Buckley, Flintshire. For this reporting period these occasions did not take place.

  9. Men’s breakfast on a monthly basis, on a Saturday morning. For this reporting period these occasions did not take place.

  10. Women’s prayer meetings. Normally held monthly. For this reporting period these occasions did not take place.

  11. Conducting Pastoral visits to those sick, bereaved and in need. For this reporting period these occasions did not take place. Pastor did continue to help those in need via telephone calls, video calls etc.

  12. Taking religious assemblies at local Holywell schools, secondary and primary. For this reporting period these occasions did not take place.

  13. Supporting other charities in the UK and overseas.

  14. Two of our brethren preach in the open air in local towns on Saturday mornings, followed by a book table in Holywell high street on Saturday afternoon when free Bibles and children’s literature is given out.

The church makes no charge for any event, food, or provision. Anyone is welcome to attend the Church and various meetings. The costs of provisions are borne by voluntary giving from church members and those who wish to contribute from the congregation.

We, as a church give thanks to God for the people who attend our meetings who would not normally attend a church service.
