Holywell Evangelical Church Charity Commission Trustee’s report for the period 6th April 2020 to 5th April 2021. The financial report is for the same period .
Holywell Evangelical Church (Charity Number 1167853) registered with the Charity Commission on 27th June 2016.
The church building is on Halkyn Street, Holywell, in the county of Flintshire, North Wales. CH8 7TX
The church’s governing document and constitution were submitted to the Charity Commission when the church registered as a charity.
During the year reported there were no serious incidents.
Covid-19 had only recently become an issue in March 2019 just before this reporting period. For the majority of the year reported lockdown existed. Services were recorded on the church premises in accordance with Covid regulations, audio and video, for both Lord’s Day (Sunday) services and the mid-week Thursday meeting/sermon. Recordings were made in advance (by only an hour or two) and uploaded just before the times that would have been applicable for normal services. Sermon Audio, Facebook and YouTube were used to publish the sermons. This enabled members the congregation to listen/watch the service at the time they would normally meet at the church premises. We were pleased to note that the view count was often substantially higher than our normal congregation. We are also encouraged that Christian folk we know from Germany; Switzerland, and the USA were/are regular listeners of the sermons.
For the mid-week Thursday meeting, in addition to the sermon recorded and published just in advance of the usual meeting time, the church held weekly Zoom prayer meetings.
We are thankful to God that we, as a church were able to continue hearing sermons from our Pastor and others Christian ministers during these Covid times.
Our Elder, and good friend of all, Mr. John Lowery of Holywell, went home to be with his Lord on 30[th] May 2020. He is missed by all. Christians who knew John will be once again be reunited with John in heaven when we leave this earth behind.
The objects of the charity: The principal object of the charity is the advancement of the Christian faith according to Baptist principles and in accordance with the Basis of Faith as stated in Schedule 1. The charity may also carry out other charitable purposes in the United Kingdom and/or other parts of the world.
During the year reported the church has been faithful to her mandate in various ways:
-
The provision of two public worship services (including prayer, the reading of God’s Word, the preaching of a sermon, and sung praise) every Sunday. See note above re sermon/service recordings published online due to attendance restrictions.
-
The administration of the Lord’s Supper twice per month. Note, for this reporting period this was not possible on the grounds of Health and Safety, and of course Government guidance and legislation.

It is normal that open air preaching takes place the day before the fellowship meal where an open invitation to attend the free Sunday Lunch is given to all who pass by in the high street of Holywell town. For this reporting period these occasions did not take place.
-
The holding of a monthly over 50s tea held at the church, open to all. For this reporting period these occasions did not take place.

-
Two of our brethren preach in the open air in local towns on Saturday mornings, followed by a book table in Holywell high street on Saturday afternoon when free Bibles and children’s literature is given out. For this reporting period these occasions did not take place.
The church makes no charge for any event, food, or provision. Anyone is welcome to attend the Church and open meetings. The costs of provisions are borne by voluntary giving from church members and those who wish to contribute from the congregation.
We, as a church give thanks to God for the people who attend our meetings who would not normally attend a church service.
