Para 1.17 and 1.19 |
The focus of our activities remains the enhancement of facilities for JKPS pupils through fundraising activities to enrich the children’s learning experience. We cover the full age range of the school and look to have an even spend on year groups where possible. Most items cover the whole school and therefore all children can benefit from the contributions. We hold a mixture of events for children and parents throughout the year. These are a combination of social and fundraising activities. We aim to provide additional facilities that are not included within the school budget which will enrich the children’s learning experience, as well as organise social events for children and their families. |
| Statement confirming whether the trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit |
Para 1.18 | In planning the activities/ events for the year at our school we kept in mind the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit at our Trustees meetings. |

Achievements and Performance
| SORP reference | ||
|---|---|---|
| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. |
Para 1.20 | Our biggest fundraising event, the Herne Hill Oktoberfest, was held in September. As always, it was well received by parents and carers, children and staff, as well as the wider Herne Hill community. In November, we organised the St Martin's celebration for the school community, a German, Christian tradition to walk and sing with lanterns in the evening. In December, we held the Winter Fair, held a wreath-making workshop and sold Christmas Trees. In the summer term, the charity held a Summer Picnic to get all families of the school community together and supported the ‘Masked Teacher’ fundraiser. The charity also supported Sports Day and the JKPS Fun Day at the end of the school year. Throughout the year we held successful preloved uniform sales and a cake sale. |
The charity has been generously supported by donations from the local and school communities, including local businesses. Our focus in the 2023-2024 school year, which included a period of change in school leadership, was to continue and build on community activities and fundraising efforts. As a result of the school community’s efforts, the level of funds held by FoJKPS and available for funding future school projects increased during the 2023-2024 school year by £38,361, to £76,303 at 31 July 2024. We were able to raise £70,999 gross (£46,236 net of payments relating to FoJKPS activities and overheads) and give £7,875 to the school. The money spent for the school was for the following items: - £1,844 – Outside space improvement - £732 – School supplies - £699 – Staff appreciation - £678 – JKPS football kit - £629 – Sports Day - £568 – Library books - £417 – JKPS Fun Day - £395 – Safe commuting - £1,913 – Year 6 leavers The charity paid for improvements to the children’s outdoor area, including new basketball hoops, outdoor plants and garden screening, paint and other garden equipment. The charity continued to provide funding to facilitate the school’s Sports Day and JKPS Fun Day, and also provided new books for the library, school team football kit and contributed towards safe commuting efforts, including the large banners for the school gate and a parking buddy. We also exceptionally provided funds towards supporting staff morale/appreciation and for school supplies to cover a funding shortfall. Fundraising activities by Year 6 for end-of-year activities and year books are partly facilitated through events organised by FoJKPS, and Year 6 spending through the charity is fully funded by those Year 6 activities. Our direct school spending is determined through consultation with the school’s senior leadership team. £38,361 raised in the school year (net) was set aside to fund future projects.
