Section B Structure, governance and management
The Governing Document is the constitution of a Charitable Incorporated Organisation whose only voting members are its Charity Trustees.
The Charity is constituted as an Association and was registered as a Charity on 22[nd] June 2016. Trustees are appointed by a resolution passed at a properly convened meeting of the Charity Trustees.
The Charity is managed by Jane Ena and Lynne Sayer, who are also Trustees reporting to the Trustees at Trustee meetings and to them generally throughout the year.
The Trust insures its activities and third party liability through Ecclesiastical Insurance.
Section C Objectives and activities
The objects of the Charity as set out in its Governing Document is to promote music and the arts in the local community by providing a platform for young musicians and artists to perform and display their talents to the local public.
In summary, its primary means of achieving this is through the organisation of musical and arts events throughout the year at venues in the local community.
In accordance with The Trustees Mission Statement, these events are widely advertised locally and are only made possible with the generous sponsorship and donations of our supporters and benefactors. For many attendees it may have been their introduction to the world of music and art. We have been determined to continue running the charity in our founder Denis Moriarty’s honour, and to continue to support young musicians and the community.
Section D Achievements and performance
As referred to in last year’s Annual Report, due to the loss of our previous Chairman and Founder, the Charity’s live musical performances were once again more limited this year. However, we are building momentum once again, and were very happy to hold events in January 2024 at the splendid Leighton House in Holland Park, followed by further events in late April at St John the Baptist Church, Kensington.
The first was a recital held in the impressive Studio at Leighton House on January 19[th] , performed by the wonderful British Mezzo-Soprano Lydia Shariff and accompanied by the fantastic Adam Dickson. The event, ‘Echoes From the East’, was a great success, with a full house of attendees, and kicked off a growing partnership between the charity and Leighton House. We were invited to return to Leighton House for a Christmas recital later in the year.
In April we held the “Spring Festival of Song”, a three-day event at St. John the Baptist, Holland Road, including, on the Sunday afternoon, a Ukrainian traditional choir, Toloka. This was followed by a sung Eucharist by the Schola Cantorum of St. Matthew’s, Kensington Olympia, directed by Tom Williams.
