The Charitable Trust was established in May 2015 to promote music and the arts in the local community. The Annual Festival and other events throughout the year aim to provide young talented musicians and artists a platform to deliver live performances to the local public at low cost. This has been achieved by the efforts of volunteers, sponsorship and fund raising.

Managing Trustees:

Mr Denis Moriarty Chairman Mr Ramsay Mason Treasurer Miss Laura Lamph Executive Director Mr Ashley Stafford Mrs Lynne Sayer

## **Section B Structure, governance and management**

The Governing Document is the constitution of a Charitable Incorporated Organisation whose only voting members are its Charity Trustees.

The Charity is constituted as an Association and was registered as a Charity on 22[nd] June 2016. Trustees are appointed by a resolution passed at a properly convened meeting of the Charity Trustees.

The Charity is managed by Laura Lamph, Executive Director, who is also a Trustee reporting to the Trustees at Trustee meetings and to them generally throughout the year.

The Trust insures its activities and third party liability through Ecclesiastical Insurance.

## **Section C Objectives and activities**

The objects of the Charity as set out in its Governing Document is to promote music and the arts in the local community by providing a platform for young musicians and artists to perform and display their talents to the local public.

In summary its primary means of achieving this is organising musical and arts events throughout the year at venues in the local community. However, this year Covid restricted the number of live performances that KOFMA were able to present.

In previous years, in accordance with The Trustees Mission Statement, these events were widely advertised locally and, with the benefit of generous sponsorship and donations, ticket prices were significantly discounted with additional concessions to students and young persons. For many it may have been their introduction to the world of music and art. We very much look forward to expanding our work in this vein as restrictions are lifted.

## **Section D Achievements and performance**

As referred to above, due to continuing Covid restrictions upon live performances KOFMA’s live musical performances had to be restricted to a Weekend Festival of music in October 2021.

These performances were held in the magnificent setting of St John the Baptist Church, Holland Rd, Kensington. It is a remarkable building, well recognised as among one of the most impressive Victorian churches in London, and a popular concert venue. We were made most welcome, the acoustic suits us very well, and the audiences were among the best we have achieved, we are most fortunate.

Performances included:

The Glorious Renaissance with the Farnese Quartet. Sackbuts Recorders performed music by Dario Castello, Cipriano de Rore & Matthias Weckmann.

An Ethereal Evening of vocal music featuring Arvo Part’s Berliner Messe, Brahms & Rheinberger.

String Quartet Recital. The Hammett Ensemble performing music by Dvorak & Haydn.

However the Chairman, Denis Moriarty, said that we must not lose sight of returning for some events to the Parish Church of St Matthew, Kensington Olympia, where we started in 2015. He added that plans for The October 2022 Festival were underway and in the hope that KOFMA will once again be able to return to a more comprehensive programme of musical and cultural events.

## **Section E Financial Review**

The Charity’s financial year is from 1[st] May to 30[th] April. Accounts prepared by The Treasurer were approved by the Trustees for the period ending 30[th] April 2022. As referred to above, due to Covid restrictions, there were limited events during the year so both income and expenditure were greatly reduced from pre-Covid years.

Total Receipts £8,246 Total payments £9,579 Net assets £4,878

The Charity has no other assets or liabilities.

The budgeted excess of expenditure over income in part reflects this year’s “ Young Musicians Sponsorship” of Abi Hammett and her Treske Quartet who, in reciprocation will also perform at KOFMA’s October 2022 Festival.

The Charity’s reserves policy is to retain a minimum balance of £3,000.

The full Accounts, which are an addendum to this report were approved at a Meeting of the Trustees on 13[th] June 2022.

The Charity’s Bank is The Royal Bank of Scotland, Threadneedle St, London EC2.
