Charity nuinbey: 1167785 Brltlsh A55o¢latk*n for Performlni Arts Mediclne IBAPAMI Tru5tee¢ Annual R¢poi4 and Flnan¢lal Staternent$ Forthe year ended 31 De¢ember 2023

Brltl$h Assodatlon for Performlng Art$ Medlclne IBAPAMI Charity 1167785 Chalrmarfs IDtrodu¢tlon 2023 ha5 again been our buslest year as patient need contlnues to Increase. Although many performance professitsnals are still presentlng with mental health i5sue5, tl)e proportion of these presentations has decreased sliEhtly and there has also been an inciEase In musculoskeletal Inlurles which perhaps Indlcates tliat performers are back to reEular work. BAPAM has demonstrated our aglllty li) adapting servlces to meet patient need in these changlng and challenging times, and we are very grateful for the funding from benevolent funds and industry bodies which ehable5 U5 to provide this support. We are dellghted that we are now settled In new offlces at 63 Mansell Street. We rent the space from Scoliosls SOS who provlde a health sewlcè and allow us to use thelr cliiilc room space. Th15 IS a very patient-focused building, and we have been made very welcome. Our London face to face clinics are well attended and we continue to offer f&¢e to face clinlcs alongslde our online servlce in Nortlièrn Ireland, WalEs, Noith East and North West of England, Yorkshlre and the Humber as well asthe West Mldlands. By the end of the year 2600 cllnlcal assessments had been delivered thls wav, the highest number yet recorded. Over 3100 patients contacted BAPAM in 2023, an Increase of 120A. We have contlnued to malntaln our objective of ensuring that services are available to performers across the UK, and l am pleasedto saythat over55% of patients are from outslde London. The cllnlcs team, particularly Ruth Zadi with the support of Usman Iqbal. has done well to manage this signlficant Increase. We wer& delighted to have Incieased our Dirèctory of Practitloners to 320 cllnl¢lans, all experienced in working wrth performers. Our mental health servlce continue5 to attract support. Equlty renewed thelr contract for counselling and provide support to members whose mental health pfgblem was caused by the worklng envlronmènt. Thls has helped to keep demand wlthln budget wlth the add5tlonal 5UPPOrt of fundlng from the Equity Charltable Trust. Tlie Music Mlnds Matter therapy services funded prlmarily by Help Muslclans continue to provlde sSgnlficant support to muslclans although the number of sesslons they offer has slightly reducèd to ensure no mu51cian is turned away. Wè also work with thÈ Royal Soclety of Muslc13ns and PRS Members Fund a5 well as Tonic Mus5¢ and Muslc Support to try and ensure ongolng support foi musicians who need It. We have been struck by the helpful and collaboratlve approach of all these bodies. In all we Iiave worked with well over 1000 mental health patSents this year and delivered over 7250 counselllng ses51ons. Our Multidisclplinary Team continues to triage patlents more qulckly, ensurfrbg that we can identify ai)y patients who are b?st suppgrted in the NHS at an early Stage 50 that they get the support they need. We contlnue to see patlents who would have otherwlse been seen by the NHS but where clinlcs weie either closed temporarily or had long waiting lists. We do not expect this to be a long-term trend, but we have agreed to work wlth funders to support patlents who need help to get back to work. We are increasingly providing clinlcal advi￿ to other organlsatlons on how best to SUPPDrt performers who find themselves In thls sltuatlon. Feedback on thls serylce has been encou¥aglng. Feedback from our patlents continues to show a hlgh level of satisfaction, Our annual survey of patients seen 12 months ago shows that 79% of patlents arè back to performlng wlthin this perlod and 86QA 5ald we had Iielped. 97Y• of patlents werè satlsfled with waillng tlmes. Cllnlcal advlce, manner and knowledge was rated as'8ood' or'ex¢ellenY by 97% of performers, and 98% sald they would recommend BAPAM to a Colleague,
