Chair’s Report
IOWDECA AGM 22[nd] May 2023
Thanks for coming, I'll try to keep this speech brief... what a year it's been, we are slowly coming out of the pandemic and some of the changes that occurred during the pandemic are still with us in some shape or form and have changed what we all knew the 20 conditions to be. We, as a group, have evolved too and are now using teams much more than ever before and this allows a level of flexibility that we might not have expected prior to Covid settling on our shores.
From a personal point, I got to go to Buckingham Palace just last Friday and met His Royal Highness at the end of a very long queue, while one of our Gold participants tried to knobble him. Of note was Jill Scott's speech where she spoke about teamwork and how she has "a powerful engine and can keep going for a whole game, throwing in tackles and passes all day long, but that is no good if you don't have other people with other skills around you". I am proud to say we have a good team around us from Carol who brings us awesome volunteering opportunities from Havenstreet Steam Railway to the Cats Protection League and Phil who, when the twenty conditions were altered pragmatically viewed the changes as creative and having strengths, where some saw none.
I am proud to be part of this team and am happy to support it wherever it goes in the future. Natalie Woods
