The Workers Memorial Registered Charity No 1167731 Annual Report for the period 19[th] June 2024 – 18[th] June 2025

The board of trustees present the trustees annual report from 18[th] June 2024 to 13[th] May 2025 and includes the accounts for the charity.

The report is required for the charity commission and covers our activities and financial position

We still enjoy the patronage of Lord Watts of Ravenhead and the Rt Hon Marie Rimmer CBE MP.

We are please to welcome Rt Hon David Baines MP as a new patron. Conor McGinn is no longer a patron.

Martin Bond resigned as a trustee due to his work commitments, but continues to support the charity as a patron, we conveyed our appreciation to Martin for the time and effort he contributed as founder trustee at the meeting 18[th] March 2025. We don’t expect this to have a negative impact on the charity, so for the foreseeable future we have no plans to appoint another trustee

This years service of remembrance was a great success. We displayed 138 hard hats to represent the 138 souls who lost their lives in work related accidents in 2023/24, source RIDDOR. The hats were kindly loaned to us by Vinci Building responsible for St Helens town centre redevelopment. Attended by The Lord Mayor of St Helens, both of the towns MPs members of the public and many local dignitaries. Again we are grateful to Haydock Band for generously donating their time and for the music. We are also grateful to the piper providing accompaniment to the wreath laying ceremony.

The service commemorating the dead, also serves to make people more aware of the need for safety in the workplace. We are making plans for next years service

We still have as our main sponsor Unite the Union and we are now enrolled with the Give as you Live scheme for raising funds. We also raise funds by applying for grants and from peoples generosity.

The only overhead we have is insurance and maintenance The trustees still give their time for free, we employ no staff, do not rent or own any property. We have no outstanding loans nor do we plan to borrow any money

We have started to roll out our lecture program for schools and colleges emphasising the importance of health and safety in the workplace. To date we have successfully delivered 5 sessions to over 160 pupils plus staff members

We have rolled out defibrillator training courses to members of the public free of charge and up to now we have provided places for 24 people, for an individual to apply for this training the cost would be in the region of £150. The courses are being well received and we will continue to provide training as long as we have funding

We are working on an alliance with St Helens Council Heritage to promote understanding and heritage about the town

We are still working to improve the security in the area and the aesthetics by installing architectural lighting to the statue We will progress this as the funds allow

Any monies donated to the charity are spent wisely and careful consideration is given before a commitment to spend is made.

Our income for the period 19/06/2024 to 18/06/2025 was £3,015.23 and our expenditure was £384.41

We remain fully in control of our finances and are in a good position for the coming year, we operate well within our means and we are in good financial shape. We continue to use the services of the Coop bank, deposits are covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. We do not intend to overdraw the account or borrow

By submitting this report the Trustees approve the accounting and reporting of the charity and agree this is an accurate account of the financial health, future aspirations and past activities of the charity.

Signed by the trustees
