We engaged with four schools, of whlch three schools were new to our company. The
school groups totalled 76 performers, of which 68 were new to opera, over 90%.
We garnered the most reviews we have ever had as a company, including reviews in
Hastings and St Leonards, Brighton and the Arcola, totalling 6 reviews of which 5 were
th
highly favourable. On December 7 2024 we supported the Seaview Centre for
vulnerable adults in their annual Christmas Carol fundraising concert. We held our usual
th
Burns Night fundraiser on January 25 and raised £1300 for the company. We held
regular advanced slngers, workshops in our London studio. From January 2025 to April
2025 we toured Red! a children's opera written by Lucy Mulgan and commissioned by
us, to 10 primary schools and 300 children. This was also ACE supported. We then
performed Redl at the Royal Opera House in April 2025 for their children's outreach

Independent Examiner's Report to the Commlttee of
Barefoot Opera
I report on the accounts of Barefoot Opera
for the twelve month period ended 31 March 2025 which are set out on the previous pages.
Respective rgsponsibilities of cornmittee & examiner
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of Ihe accounts. The charity's trustees
consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (the
Charities Act). and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility..
to examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act
to follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity
Commission (under section 145{5)(b) of the Charities Act), and
to state whether particular matters have come to my attention
Basis of indepandont examiner's report
My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charlty
Commisslon. An examination Includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and
comparison of the supporting documentation presented with those records. It also includes
consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the
trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence
that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts
present a "true and fair" view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement
below.
Indèpendent oxamin•r'8 statement
In connection wlth my examination, no matter has come to my attention..
1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the reouirements..
to keep accounting records in accordance with section130 of the Charities Act
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and to comply with the
accounting requirements of the Act
have not been met. or
2) to which. in my opinion, atterbtion should be drawn in order to enable a proper understsnding of
the accounts to be reached.
