The Charty's purpose is to make provision for. and expand participation
in, the amateur sKort of rowing wi Gravesham and the surrounding area.

The charity has approximatety 90 members. who regularty partake in. or
support, the sport of rowing. ThFs covers a range of activities. including
fine boat rowing. c(￿8tal rowing. and indoor rowing. Such activities are
overseen by three club quote coaches qualifted in the teathin9 of rowing.
Membership of the club is open to all residents of Gravesham and the
surrounding area, who are aged 13 years over, on the payment of the
membership fee. This year the club has again maintained its membership
fee at the current rate (lower than other Kent rowing clubs in almost all
categortes), in an attempt to remain accessible to all.
The club additionalW offers concessionary rates to those who would
othenvise be unable to parttcipate n the sport, and for those leaming to
row through its school outreach programmes.
The club encourages participation in the SFth throughotrt mallitenar￿e of
ils fleet of boats, indoor row machines, and dubhouse (funded through
various social and fundraising events).
It encourages competitive partripation through entering members into
rowng races including the Danson Dashes regatta, which it jointty runs
with Erith Rowing Club.
The club has worked to bring nming to non-members, through
its link5 With local schools. As well as offering school training sessions.
the club hosted for the third year an indoor rowing COM￿r(lOn for local
schools. This allows non-members to participate in the sport of indoor
rowing, at no cost to the indivKluals.

Gravesend Rowing Club is onty able to continue its work thanks to the
contribulron of a num1￿[ of volunteers. In addition to those who sit on the
managing committee, we recognise the contribution of those who have
organised fundraising events, carried out Maintenan￿ work on our fleet
of boats and buildings, helped run rowing and training sessiorts, and
assisting at races.

achievernents ofthe
charity during the year
This year the charity has endeavoured to grow its membeTShip in both
junior and aduEt 5ectTons. The dub has Continued to increase ils presence
in the tocal road communty by running an amateur rowing event in Bexley
alongside Errth Rcwing Club, which was again open to all British rowing
affiliated clubs. The club has additionally expanded the experience of its
members by entering cruise into row in events across Ihe Southeast.
These range from at local events open to 811, to more challenging events
and those open to crews from across the vffjrld. such as the Head of the
River Ra￿ in London. The number of individuals attending races, and the
number ofwins have again increased.
Ck)ser to home, the club has held a number of events that to develop
links with the local communty including the schools indoor rowing
championships and friend￿ indoor rowing events with teams invited to
join from the PLA and the RNLI.

The honorary treasurer each year recommends that the charity endeavour
to hold approximatety £10,000 in reserves, vtherever possible wtthin usual
cycles of income and expenditure, to account for any unexwted
spending wuirement this has been maintained throughout the reE￿Ing
period.

The Charty's purpose is to make provision for. and expand participation
in, the amateur sKort of rowing wi Gravesham and the surrounding area.

The charity has approximatety 90 members. who regularty partake in. or
support, the sport of rowing. ThFs covers a range of activities. including
fine boat rowing. c(￿8tal rowing. and indoor rowing. Such activities are
overseen by three club quote coaches qualifted in the teathin9 of rowing.
Membership of the club is open to all residents of Gravesham and the
surrounding area, who are aged 13 years over, on the payment of the
membership fee. This year the club has again maintained its membership
fee at the current rate (lower than other Kent rowing clubs in almost all
categortes), in an attempt to remain accessible to all.
The club additionalW offers concessionary rates to those who would
othenvise be unable to parttcipate n the sport, and for those leaming to
row through its school outreach programmes.
The club encourages participation in the SFth throughotrt mallitenar￿e of
ils fleet of boats, indoor row machines, and dubhouse (funded through
various social and fundraising events).
It encourages competitive partripation through entering members into
rowng races including the Danson Dashes regatta, which it jointty runs
with Erith Rowing Club.
The club has worked to bring nming to non-members, through
its link5 With local schools. As well as offering school training sessions.
the club hosted for the third year an indoor rowing COM￿r(lOn for local
schools. This allows non-members to participate in the sport of indoor
rowing, at no cost to the indivKluals.

Gravesend Rowing Club is onty able to continue its work thanks to the
contribulron of a num1￿[ of volunteers. In addition to those who sit on the
managing committee, we recognise the contribution of those who have
organised fundraising events, carried out Maintenan￿ work on our fleet
of boats and buildings, helped run rowing and training sessiorts, and
assisting at races.

achievernents ofthe
charity during the year
This year the charity has endeavoured to grow its membeTShip in both
junior and aduEt 5ectTons. The dub has Continued to increase ils presence
in the tocal road communty by running an amateur rowing event in Bexley
alongside Errth Rcwing Club, which was again open to all British rowing
affiliated clubs. The club has additionally expanded the experience of its
members by entering cruise into row in events across Ihe Southeast.
These range from at local events open to 811, to more challenging events
and those open to crews from across the vffjrld. such as the Head of the
River Ra￿ in London. The number of individuals attending races, and the
number ofwins have again increased.
Ck)ser to home, the club has held a number of events that to develop
links with the local communty including the schools indoor rowing
championships and friend￿ indoor rowing events with teams invited to
join from the PLA and the RNLI.

The honorary treasurer each year recommends that the charity endeavour
to hold approximatety £10,000 in reserves, vtherever possible wtthin usual
cycles of income and expenditure, to account for any unexwted
spending wuirement this has been maintained throughout the reE￿Ing
period.

Dear Sirs 

The following representations are made on the basis of enquiries of management and staff with relevant knowledge and experience such as we consider necessary in connection with your independent examination of the club’s financial statements for the year ended 30 September 2022.  These enquiries have included inspection of supporting documentation where appropriate and are sufficient to satisfy ourselves that we can make each of the following representations.  All representations are made to the best of our knowledge and belief. 

## **General** 

- 1 We acknowledge that the work performed by you is substantially less in scope than an audit performed in accordance with International Standards on Auditing (UK) and that you do not express an audit opinion. 

- 2 We confirm that the club was entitled to exemption under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 the requirement to have its financial statements for the financial year ended 30 September 2022 audited. 

- 3 We have fulfilled our responsibilities as trustees as set out in the terms of your engagement, under the Charities Act 2011 for preparing financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice), for being satisfied that they give a true and fair view and for making accurate representations to you. 

- 4 All the transactions undertaken by the club have been properly reflected and recorded in the accounting records. 

- 5 All the accounting records have been made available to you for the purpose of your independent examination. We have provided you with unrestricted access to all appropriate persons within the club and with all other records and related information requested, including minutes of all management and trustee meetings and correspondence with The Charity Commission. 

- 6 The financial statements are free of material misstatements, including omissions. 

## **Assets and liabilities** 

- 7 The club has satisfactory title to all assets and there are no liens or encumbrances on the club’s assets, except for those that are disclosed in the notes to the financial statements. In particular we confirm that the club owns the building at Gordon Promenade which has a fair value of £203,348. 

- 8 All actual liabilities, contingent liabilities and guarantees given to third parties have been recorded or disclosed as appropriate. 

- 9 As at 30 September 2022, the club did not hold any bank accounts or cash balances aside from those included within the financial statements, as detailed below; 

   - Santander - £121,319.40 

   - Barclays - £14,413.03 

   - Cash - £Nil 

- 10 We can confirm that the club held stock valued at £8,332 as at 30 September 2022. 

- 11 We confirm that the club has ownership of the various boats, rowing machines and associated equipment included within the accounts at a total fair value of £125,223. 

- 12 We have no plans or intentions that may materially alter the carrying value and where relevant the fair value measurements or classification of assets and liabilities reflected in the financial statements. 

## **Accounting estimates** 

- 13 Significant assumptions used by us in making accounting estimates, including those measured at fair value, are reasonable. 



## **Legal claims** 

- 14 We have disclosed to you all claims in connection with litigation that have been, or are expected to be, received and such matters, as appropriate, have been properly accounted for, and disclosed in, the financial statements. 

## **Laws and regulations** 

- 15 We have disclosed to you all known instances of non-compliance or suspected non-compliance with laws and regulations whose effects should be considered when preparing the financial statements. 

## **Related parties** 

- 16 Related party relationships and transactions have been appropriately accounted for and disclosed in the financial statements. We have disclosed to you all relevant information concerning such relationships and transactions and are not aware of any other matters which require disclosure in order to comply with legislative and accounting standards requirements. 

## **Subsequent events** 

- 17 All events subsequent to the date of the financial statements which require adjustment or disclosure have been properly accounted for and disclosed. 

## **Going concern** 

- 18 We believe that the club’s financial statements should be prepared on a going concern basis on the grounds that current and future sources of funding or support will be more than adequate for the club’s needs.  We have considered a period of twelve months from the date of approval of the financial statements.   We believe that no further disclosures relating to the club’s ability to continue as a going concern need to be made in the financial statements. 

## **Grants and donations** 

- 19 All grants, donations and other income, the receipt of which is subject to specific terms or conditions, have been notified to you. There have been no breaches of terms or conditions in the application of such income.
