## **Our Charity’s Purpose for Public Beneft**

Friends of Kings Gardens, Southport, looks after the gardens at the lower end of the Gardens on the Promenade, where the fountain is located. Our Gardening members meet weekly on different days, to maintain the formal gardens. This is done on a voluntary basis. The pleasure brought to the public who use the gardens is immeasurable. Families, flora and fauna lovers benefit from the carefully kept surroundings.

## **- Activities and Events during the 2021 2022 season**

We resumed our Committee and Events meetings in accordance with the Government guidelines, after the regulations after Covid 19. Our committee meetings were relocated to a new meeting place, which has proved to be convenient and congenial. At these meetings we decide on the needs of the gardens and liaise with Green Sefton in this regard. Our events meetings (which involve fewer people) is located at one of our member’s homes. This is to discuss and report on the progress of the arrangements bring made to organise the annual Fun Day, this year was to coincide with the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Our events are organised with the primary intention of giving families an inexpensive venue to bring families together and engage in wholesome activities.

## **– How funds were raised and used during the 2012 2022 season**

1. Funday Event- a tea tent and big garden game activities, and raffles and tombola stall formed our focus of raising money.

2. Visitor tours of Kings Gardens- arranged as requested. These are conducted by member volunteers.

Funds are used to ensure all volunteers have the relevant tools to enable safe garden maintenance. FOKG equipment is purchased and kept in working order, eg, urn for the tea tent etc.

Most of what is planted in the garden is received via donations, but where necessary, plants are purchased. We have pledged to plant a Cherry Tree in the Gardens as part of the Queen’s Canopy initiative to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee.
