The Chair of the Trustees is responsible for the induction of any new committee member; this involves awareness of responsibilities, of the governing document, of administrative procedures and of the history and activities of the Association. ## **ORGANISATION STRUCTURE** Although the Trustees have ultimate responsibility for the running of the Association they receive advice from the Honorary Governors who are elders of the community. In turn the Trustees appoint Secretaries to take responsibility for organising one of the range of the wide range of activities as well as for financial and administrative support. Secretaries are expected to regularly report back to the Trustees. ## **RISKS AND INTERNAL CONTROL** The Trustees have overall responsibility for ensuring that TECA has appropriate systems of control, both financial and operational. These systems should be designed to provide reasonable, but not absolute, assurance against material misstatement or loss. The Trustees have recognised that there were some financial and operational risks and implementing an action plan to ensure that, as far as is reasonable, controls are in place to protect TECA, its Members, the general public and other stakeholders. ## **OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES** The Telangana Europe Cultural Association (TECA) promotes mainly for the benefit of the public particularly and not exclusively the Telangana Community in the United Kingdom, in particular: - Preserve, maintain, populate and carry forward the cultural heritage of Telangana Culture across UK and Europe - Create a platform for Telanganites to unite for voice their concerns, help and support to community, local government and Telangana Government in India for the economic and social development. - The provision of facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure time occupation of individuals, who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disability, financial hardship or social circumstances with the object of improving their conditions of life - The advancement of education including education in Telugu history, culture and customs 4 | Page Docusign Envelope ID: 907C50F8-458C-4840-81B3-CA7BCE13B589 - Creating a networking platform for “Make in Telangana” and “Make in India” discussions in UK and Europe. - Pro-poor and rural development related Charity - To exchange expertise like Healthcare, pure water, renewable energy and present to local government and Telangana Government. - Uniting community for Cultural activities and festival celebrations - Organising network events - Organising or participating in UK trade and industry, Community support, Charity events. ## **WHAT WE DID** During the year TECA has organised a series of cultural events and has provided educational services. Although primarily accessed by members of the Telangana community we welcome individuals from all backgrounds. The Trustees consider that the activities undertaken, offered at no or minimal cost, provide benefit to the community as a whole and confirm that in exercising their powers and duties, they have complied with their duty to have due regard to the guidance on public benefit published by the Charity Commission and have complied with their duties under Section 17 of the Charities Act 2011. 5 | Page Docusign Envelope ID: 907C50F8-458C-4840-81B3-CA7BCE13B589 ## **Telangana Europe Cultural Association (TECA) Charity Registration Number: 1167695** ## **Report of the Trustees for the Year Ended 31 March 2024** ## **ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE** ## **What we achieved:** During the year TECA conducted the following events successfully with the help of the wider community. - Telugu Language Classes - TECA Bathukamma Celebrations - TECA Annual General Meeting ## **FINANCIAL REVIEW** ## **Financial Results For The Year** During the year TECA made a deficit of £88. Trustees would expect to make an occasional deficit as long as these are matched over time by compensating surpluses. Cash holdings remain healthy with £1,897 in the bank at year end. Full details of the results for the year are as shown in the Accounts. ## **Reserves Policy** The aim of the Trustees is to ensure that TECA holds adequate reserves to allow it to continue its charitable objectives. Since there are neither paid staff, nor premises and since all activities should be self-funding. The Trustees believe that a reserve of £1,000 should be sufficient. However, as of 31 March 2024 reserves stood at £1,897. As there are no designated reserves the excess reserve funds will be deployed in the future in support of activities in line with charity objectives. ## **Plans for Future Periods** We are continuing to with existing range of events and activities. Trustees are also aware that they need to improve the Association’s governance and financial systems including extending the online payment systems to minimise cash transactions. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (the Charities Act) and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to: - examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act, - to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5)(b) of the charities Act, and - to state whether particular matters have come to my attention. ## Basis of independent examiner’s statement My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the view given in the accounts. ## Independent examiner's statement In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention other than that disclosed above which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in, any material respect, the requirements to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the Charities Act have not been met; or to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached. > …………………………………………….
