TRUSTEES. REPORT
FOR THE YEAR ENDED 5 APRIL 2022
The Trustees present their annual report together with the financial slalements ol the charity for the 6 April 2021
10 S April 2022.
Objectives and Actlvltles
a. Policies and objective5
To advance in Ilfe and help young people through the provision of scholarships lo improve Ihe1r conditions of
life and develop their skills, capacities and capabilitses to enable them lo participate in society as mature and
responsible individuals.
To promote such exclusively charitable purposes as determined by the Iruslees by providing financial
support lo charities or organisations undertaking charitable puiposes.,
To advance education of individual recipients andlor their children by providing grants lo help meet the
expenses of their education.,
To relieve poverty by making grants to individual recipients in straitened circumstances
b, Activities for achlevlng objectives
The Archie Lloyd Charitable Foundation, known as 'teamArchie' aims lo award scholarships largeled al those
who have not had the opportunities afforded lo them through their education and personal circumstances. These
young people will be mentored and assisted through a programme of further educalion, for example through
coaching qualifications and travel.
leamArchie are primarily supporting scholarships which are being sel up initially in association with charities
which have the practical processes in place to help identify worthy recipients and sel up the opportunities that the
Trustees feel would benefit them.
We are aiming lo build multiple opportunities in sport. music. drama, art and design, education and business.
Both the financial assistance and the mentoring might swing the pendulum of opportunity in favour ol boys and
girls who deserve a helping hand in part because they want lo be the best that they can be and in part because
there is nowhere for them lo gel the support that they need to make it happen.
Achievements and performance
a. Revlew of actlvities
The 13th June 2022, would have been Archie's 25th Birlhday, Archie was lucky enough lo be born into a world
lull of opportunities and where his delerminalion to be the best he could be was fully supported by family, friends,
and teachers. Tragically he died aged 18, whilst Iravelling with friends, long before he had lime lo live up lo the
moliv8tional mantras he loved.
The charitable foundation sel up in his memory aims lo swing the pendulum ol opportunity in favour of those who
can show that they want lo be the best that they can be, bul who lack the support necessary to make il happen.
We work, often with partner charities OT other organisalions, lo recognise talent and commitment and match il
with programmes of funding, training, and mentoring, usually in sport, adventure, or the arts. The exact nature of
thè progiamme is less important than the lasting impact we and the
young person believe il will have on them. Our goal is lo ènsure that personal circumstances are not a barrier lo
the fulfilmenl of polenlial. We hope Ihat the beneficiaries of his legacy, like Archie, go on lo inspire and molivale
those around them.

Summary of Team Archle's charitable projects 2021-22..
ACE I SEJA (Brazlll
George Crawley's ACE goes from strength lo strength now working with community projects in London as well
as all over Brazil. 11 has stayed close lo ils Brazilian roots though and h88 adopted SEJA- Portuguese for 'be"
as ils new identity. teamArchie supports 2 community projects in the Favelas of Rio de Janeiro
Eslre18s do
Mandela and P13ylife
where girls are allowed lo be themselves playing sport and sharing cullural identity.
Football and tennis are used lo break stereotypes and help guide young people through their day lo day lives.
Like so many ol our projects the most important aspect of the activity is that Il allows confidence and leadership
skills to develop.
Bradford Clty Glrls Football Club
11 has been a fabulous season for Bradford City Girls with all their age group teams winning either League or Cup
titles. S girls have graduated lo Ihe Bradford 1 sl team and now play in the FA Women's National League. Not all
the girls can ol course become professional players so we are delighted that this summer we will be able lo fund
coaching and referee training for some of the girls after their GCSES. The gids development programme is a
community project 2nd their inspirational chairman, Qasim, is a former teamArchie beneficiary.
Cllpper Race Yachtlng Bursary
In September 2022 we will slarl our search again for a young sailor lo lake up a place on the 2023 Clipper
Round the World Race. Our first Clipper beneficiary Callum is an incredible role model for the power of this
opporlunily. After training funded by leamArchie he went Iransallanlic with Clipper in 2019 having been
introduced lo sailing by the Calzero charity in Hull. He now works full time for Calzero helping turnaround the
lives ol others like him who struggle lo find a path in life. Still supported by, and supporting, leamArchie' he is
working towards his Yachlmasler Offshore qualification and 8 career as a professional sailor.
First Story
We continue to support the First Story annual residential. This year 16 promising young writers from First Story's
projects all over the country mel up al Lumb Bank, Ted Hughes. former home in Yorkshire, for a week in July lo
work together with professional authors on thèir writing. The online courses over the last 2 years have bèen a
gieal success bul the physical residential allows everything lo be shared from first dralls, lo after dinner poetry,
lo cooking for themselves and each other. Previous parlicipanls have described the freedom of 'being 8blÈ to
write with no wrong answers" of not needing lo justify feelings or ideas, and of being able lo listen lo Énd
appreciate others, work.
Greenhouse Sport5
11 has been a difficult year for Greenhouse as the wonderful Greenhouse Centre in Marylebone has been
undergoing renovation. Undeterred the lable tennis programme continues lo support children in the area in
alternative venues with astonishing results. 2 teams won their age group competitions al the England Schools
Championships with 1 boy selected lo play lor England. Most important Ihough is the commitment and altitude of
the children. When we visited a few weeks ago the enthusiasm was infectious - not surprising when the chief
coach, Jason. and 2 of his assistants had all come through the development programme themselves 88 children.
Ngw Adventures
In 2021 we agreed a three year leamAr¢hle emerging artist apprentice programme with New Adventures. This
provides lor an emerging dancer, sele¢led by Sir Matthew Bourne following graduation from Ballet school, a
year's contract with the New Adventures Dance Company. In January 2022. our emerging artist apprentice
Enrique performed as Cupid in Sir Matthew Bourne's New Adventures production of Nulcrackerl We are now
supporting a second apprentice Perreira Franque IPerryl. We are hoping we might see both ol them in the New
Adventures production ol Sleeping Beauty in January 2023. There will be a leamArchie gala performance on
1 Oth January 2023 al Sadlers Wells.

Cricket Mentoring Programme
Hampshire batsman Nick Gubbins, an original Ambassador with leamArchie, has sel up a programme of
mentoring for young cricketers from the ACE (African Carlbbean Engagemenll project - Jahir and O'Dane.
Through nel sessions. advice, and support with kil and expenses, il has been wondèrful lo see them grow in
eonfidence both as cricketers and as young men. O'Dane was thrilled lo clean bowl Nick in a recent nel sessionl
The ultimate goal is lo see them achieve their ambition ol becoming professional cricketers - their performances
on the pitch this season will be crucial. We wish them lu¢k.
Seenaryo (Jordan)
leamArchie's work with Seenaryo is best illustrated by the experiences of three young people.
Aya and Ahmad have been taking part in community theatre projects in Jordan with Seenaryo for three years.
They are from Rusaifeh
a low-income area on the oulskirls of Amman where Seenaryo runs a Showbuild in
partnership with Haya Community Cenlre. They h2vè become passionate about theatre bul what really stands
out is their growing profe5$10nalism and maturity. Rather than insisting on taking the biggest and best roles they
strive lo include and help other, younger participants. Gradually, they have n8lurally taken on greater leadership
roles and the aim is lo support them lo lead some exercises independently next year.
Thirdly, Seba was part of Seenaryo's very first Youth Theatre programme. With Seenaryo Seba has trained as a
facililalor and. in a fantastic leamArchie collaboration with one of our other charity partners, Seba has been
mentored by Paul Smelhurst from New Adventures via a number of zoom sessions. Seba 15 now leading the
leamArchie Childrens, Theatre programmes in Mafraq as well as establishing her own theatre company 'Art
Vision,.
Snowcamp
In April, 2 cohorts of teamArchie's Snowcamp bursaiy recipients were finally able to travel lo Italy lo complete
their training on real snow and on real mountains. For most leamArchie bursary recipients, like Calum, il was
their first experience of thè Alps or even of being away from home. Calum struggled al school with a difficult
home-life and severe dyslexia bul from the initial Snow Camp first tracks programme he has been able lo watch
and feel and gradually listen and learn through skiing. The culmination of the programme in Italy allows the
students lo shadow inslruclors and gain their Snowsporl England or Scotland qualifications and First Aid and
Safeguarding certificates. Calum was awarded most improved skier on the trip and then Scotland Young Person
ol the Year. He has been able lo write a leller of application and as a result has been taken on as an apprenlice
with Snowcamp Scotland where he will leach others and work towards his BASI inslruclors qualifications.
