Objectives & Activities
Summary of the Objects of the Charity as set out in its Governing Document

To advance the Sikh religion for the public benefit by educating people about the Sikh religion through the provision of access to a library with books on the Sikh religion, the teaching of kirtan, the teaching of the Guru Granth Sahib and in such other ways as the trustees from time to time may think fit.

To advance the education of the public in the Punjabi language.
Summary of the Main Activities Undertaken for the Public Benefit in Relation to the Charity's Objects
Activities undertaken to meet our objectives:
Activities for Objective-1:

Covered Sikh history and philosophy topics within our weekly online Punjabi lessons.

Distributed books about Bhai Jaswant Singh Khalra to celebrate his life and legacy on the 30[th] anniversary of his death.

Created a video compilation of students reciting the morning prayer Jap Ji Sahib.

Shared online resources and resources created by our volunteers’ team.

Took part in the online initiative Walk4Sahibzaade to raise awareness of the martyrdom of the Chaar Sahibzaade.

Held regular online Kahoot! quizzes on various Sikhi topics; both live quizzes and challenges which the students could complete in their own time.

Gave students the opportunity to share their creative work based on Vaisakhi and on the June 1984 Golden Temple massacre, on our social media.

Our annual winter assembly was conducted online in February 2021, for which each class prepared a video presentation put together and edited by our volunteers. The event was loosely based on the theme of Seva and Sikh Culture.
Activities for Objective-2:

Term-time Sunday Punjabi classes were carried out online via Zoom to maximise the safety and wellbeing of our students and volunteers during the pandemic. Classes were open to students aged 3+, from Punjabi beginners to GCSE and A Level students.

Many of our students completed their GCSE and A Level Punjabi exams in Autumn 2020.

Held regular online Punjabi Kahoot! live quizzes as well as challenges to be completed in the students’ own time.

Our students and volunteers helped translate COVID-19 infographics into Punjabi which helped both their own Punjabi learning and the wider Punjabi community’s access to quality resources about the pandemic and government guidelines.

Shared online resources for Punjabi learning and resources created by our volunteers’ team.

Purchased Punjabi books to distribute and sell to our students.

Many young volunteers who had completed their Punjabi A Level exams started volunteering in teaching Punjabi classes

Annual End-of-Year Punjabi-based programme in July 2020 in which all classes participated by creating video presentations, edited by our volunteers.

Summary of the Main Achievements of the Charity for the Year

Successful running of term-time weekly Panjabi, kirtan and Sikhi classes catering for 100-200 students and giving many parents and volunteers the opportunity to give back to their community. Punjabi classes had been successfully shifted to an online platform (Zoom) when pandemic restrictions began.

Two annual whole-school programmes for which each class created video presentations, edited by our volunteers, to celebrate and showcase the students’ learning.

Students successfully completing their Punjabi GCSE and A Level exams.

Online quizzes on the Kahoot! platform, allowing students to learn and engage with each other in a fun way.

Video completion of the morning prayer Jap Ji Sahib.
