In planning our activities we are mindful of the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit at our trustee meetings. Our activities focus on four themes: 1. Increasing knowledge.. we provide advice surgeries for carers, training and information workshops. Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit) 2. Advocacy.. Raising issues and concerns affecting ethnic minority family carers with statutory organisalions. 3. Outreach support to isolated carers: We receive referrals from black and Asian minority ethnic (BAME) carers and offer an outreach service particularly if there are language and cultural barriers. This includes home visiting those that need support, liaising with social services and other statutory agencies and assisting with advocacyl interpretation. 4. Respite and social interaction.. We recognise that carers struggle to get out so provide respite days out just for carers. We also provide day trips for families - the carer and the cared for person - with the option for them to bring other family members. This gives carers the opportunity to take a break from the stresses of their lives and to feel less isolated. Where possible, we facilitate carer social interaction by providing 'coffee mornings, and cultural events.
