Dart Providing ngw, and life enhafi￿ng, experien(85 on the water involves considerab
resources, induding all Ihe necessary health and safety training. experiertcad instructors, RYA
support and, ol course. lully mainlained sailing boats and associated equipm8nL So. it is pleasing
to reF4)rt that the Summw of 2025 was a considèrable succèss on many Ironts wilh OV8T 300 young
girls and boys experiencAng the joys and 6XCbtement ol tha b8aubful River DarL often for the lirst
time.
Annual Schools Weeks Programme.
The t))re aclivtty was, once agwn, the annual Schools Weoks programm8 hekj over three the8ks
in July, foll0v￿n9 iour ￿ster' Tuesdays In Jun8. GToups of up lo 12 Year 6 Children were intr¢yluced
to sailing in the Trust's l]uest dinghi8S, taught by our team ol young instructors under the R YA
YoLrth Sailing scheme. Around 220 children Irom seven Ic¢al Xhools enloyed their inb*al sailing
axparience. Tho youngslors V+we encouraged lo take the helm and sail the boats th8mselves

requir8d.
Sall Training Yacht Experlence.
15 young adufts from Dart￿outh Academy Settsndary spent a challenging away from ho
on th8 sail training yachl'Prolrfic'. departing from Southampton lo Weymouth via co￿$ and back.
The condibons were quits rough al tin￿$ and a¢xording to their teachers this was not onty a greal
exercise in team buildiThJ but also a positive life thanging event for all partithpantsl

Paddle Boarding and Kayaking Inltiatives.
In Septemb8r rounded off the season with 64 Year 7 Dartmouth AGad8my pupils enjoying a
half day's paddl? boarding instruction and a similar number of Year 7s enjowng a half d8y learning
how to kayak. Bolh events a hug• Su￿88$ dospits some challen9ing weather conditions and
are p￿nn￿￿ to be repeated this year.
Envlronmentsl Awareness Programme.
sO￿thing continued in 2025. 5UPPOrted by the D8vry) Environmentsl Foundation. was a
greater enwrOn￿￿nta1 awareness we brought kn all our session8. Thi8 wa8 in conjunction th8
RYA 'Gr8en Blue Pledge, and our intentson is lo continue lo rais8 awareness and educate the
young Dart River tK¢al users in the t)est pracli¢e that can be adopted to protect our mafin8 and
inland walers to safeguafd the wildlrfe and habrtat. One exampl8 of how this was implemented was
one of our local schools set an exercise for their studerrts to IMile"River Dart Stori88'_

V•ith an environm8ntal emphasis. It was amazing to see how Ihe children imagine different ways
of portraying th& envirOn￿n￿l probloms and how ￿ Can address them. All our environm8ntal
awareness activi88 V•Èro enthusiastic￿lY ombraced by dl part￿Pants, and ￿711 be continued lo be
built on during 2028.
Dartmouth Youth Group.
New lor 2025, started working vAth loGal charity the Darlmouth Youth Group. We look 14 young
adults out for h¥0 evenings 'introduction lo sailing. in Ihe t￿8$1 dinghies wilh our qualified
instructors.. This was a great success and thoroughly enjoyed by all p8￿C$pants. We ¥MII build on
this in 2026 and I￿n￿allY offer sonw paibc4pants the p)ssibilty to obtain starter RYA
qualifications.
