IAN PRATT MND FOUNDATION
TRUSTEES’ REPORT
FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2024
The Trustees present their report and financial statements for the year ended 31 December 2024.
The Trustees report has been prepared in accordance with the Ian Pratt MND Foundation’s (foundation) governing document, the Charities Act 2011 and “Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)” (as amended for accounting periods commencing from 1 January 2019). The financial statements have been prepared on a receipts and payments basis.
Objectives and Activities
The objective of Ian Pratt MND Foundation is to promote and protect the physical and mental health of sufferers of Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and their families by the provision of grants of financial assistance and to advance the education of the public by supporting research into Motor Neurone Disease (MND) and disseminating the useful results for public benefit.
We achieved a total income of £32,878 (2023: £7,751) from fund raising activities during the year to 31 December 2024. Expenditure was £19,311 (2023: £27,557) of which a £15,000 grant to SiTran Sheffield was made for assistance to purchase research equipment and to assist further research. We propose to pay another £25,000 to SiTran from funds earned during the year.
The Trustees received advice from The Charity Commission during the formation of our Constitution document. Changes and recommendations were reflected therein. The Trustees have paid due regard to guidance issued by the Charity Commission in deciding what activities the charity should undertake. The trustees consider the objectives and activities of the charity are of a public benefit.
There are a number of volunteers that raise awareness of, and funds for the foundation.
Achievements and Performance
The foundation has advanced the education of the public by continuing to raise awareness of the devastating effect of MND on those diagnosed.
The foundation promoted and protected the physical and mental health of sufferers of MND and their families by raising donations that will facilitate the provision of financial assistance in the coming years.
The foundation provided support and guidance to individuals.
Financial Review
The foundation had a cash balance of £41,055 (2023: £27,488) of which £25,000 (2023: £15,000) has been reserved for the SiTran grant, leaving £16,055 to be available to individual grant requests and operational costs in subsequent years.
The foundation Trustees decide on an appropriate reserve each year with approximately half of the available year end balance being granted to research and the other half being retained for individual assistance requests.
The Trustees have no uncertainty about the foundation continuing as a going concern.
