Optional information:
The No Barriers Foundation continues to help broaden access to education in developing countries. Through 2020/21, our activity was drastically reduced due to the pandemic. We provided funds for school furniture and distance learning resources for God’s Grace school in Uganda and we provided emergency assistance to migrant workers in India who were facing homelessness and starvation.
Money has been sent either through Western Union or volunteer bank accounts to ensure a safe transfer of funds and because the trustees are not based in these countries, we have asked for receipts for all funds transferred to ensure it is going towards where it is intended (i.e. classroom building).
To minimise this risk, we only work with parties we know (schools where volunteers have worked or schools existing charities work with) and we have sent small amounts initially. Once we know the funds are received and appropriately spent, we then send more for
classroom building. This gives us assurance that our international partners are reliable and trustworthy.
Objectives and activities
The No Barriers Foundation aims to broaden access to education in developing countries and improve the quality of education children in these countries receive. We do this through sponsoring teachers, giving oversubscribed schools the money needed to build new classrooms, sending books, art or sporting equipment to schools lacking in resources and providing schools money to install clean water facilities.
Achievements and performance
In 2020, we have:
-
Provided migrant worker families in India with emergency funding to prevent homelessness and starvation. This was during the onset of Covid-19 (Spring 2020)
-
Funded God’s Grace school in Uganda to help purchase new furniture (benches and tables) and resources for home learning
-
Funded the beginning of construction work (readying land) for a new temporary building site for God’s Grace school.
There are no funds in deficit.
