Opening Hours & Footfall
We are sti11 opening in our usual shfft pattem. Monday. Tuesday arKI SatLFrday mofflings.
Thursday arbd Friday afternoons.
We have had ancxher challeTh3ing year. Over the last Christmas period we wanted to check
what our footfall would be, we could only open-up for a couple of days. because of how Ihe
Bank holidays fdl. Unfortunately, our fwtf<111 didn't increase by much. Our f(￿(fall fell over
the summer period. in line with other libraries, probabty because of the Worfd Cup matthes.
Also, Ihe Coffee Zone numbers have fallen. due to the Dementia Hub not meeting on
fvlondays anymore. In spiie of this slight downturn. our overall footfall figures have incTe8sed
from last year. As we orqanise rn￿e evenls. we are exF¢cting to sce those numbers
in￿aSe agaifi. We have still had to close the library or restTrGt the hours we are open but
this has gol better monlh on month and 1¢ s rnore volunteers come on board and are trair)ed.
we will hopefully get back to being able to fulfil our contraded hours. We said last year that
we werc hoping to be able to change the times we open, we still wish to do this, once 4VC
have a reasonable lovcl of active volunteer5 in place. Nothing can happèn without p￿Per
CCK15ultstion Mth our users and pennIss￿n from LCC.
Wc are continu ing with our Lunchtime Talks on Wednesdays, we've had 3 since last
October, looking fmvard, it is likely they be on an ad-hoG basis.
I have included a graph in the rewt which gives you a visual of visitor numbers so that you
can see how we are progressing. The graph is for the year Oct 23 to Sept 24.

Grants & Fund Raising
Earlier thi5 year. to cover the ¢J)Ide5t months. V￿ were kncky enough to ￿ awarded a

I would like to ackn(Y•Aed9e arKI thank the Parish Council for their continued support.

This year we oontinued with the Blaby Lottery and we now hav¢ a regular numbL¥ of tickèts
scdd every week where a pErtsniage of thc money comes directty to the library. we are
re￿ivIng an average £35 pei r(Kfftth as a sour¢e of income. unfiYLunately a little less than
last y&w.
We rent out the b'bfary space to indmduals tor edu¢aiional and weii-being putP05e5. whith
brings us some W￿1¢0me revenue, we aro in the prD¢ess of rcviewing Lxtr pricing strucbjre
for this space to bring US into line WTth other venu¢s in the village.
Wc still reTrt gazebos Iwhith we have obtained Ihr(wgh grants) and table$ to indivKluals or
groups within the village. We are also ￿viewIng this pricing structure.
We $¢ hopir>g to rE5tart Friends Membership Stherne (whith has beell on for 3

We have continued to build on the furbd-faising methods th31 WÈ use: usually sell
vegetables donated frDm the local allotment holders, due to the very wd weather this
year there hasn.t becn a lot of producé. Any donate(Y books that yve onnot sell be￿USe of
Ihe4r condil'on we sell for a small fee to World of Books. we have also identsfi¢yY a[￿her
sourtse t)f income from 8 ¢ompany called WeBuy8<XJks. which gives us a better pite for
some of the lar9er book5 we receive. We cofilinue to use some of our donated book5 for 'A
Blind Date with a Book.. this is not an all-year project but has proved to be very popular. AJI
of those bring in smau amount5 but neverth¢lcss they wim help us to continue running th8
library.
The Mothlay mominq 'Coffee Zone. brings in 5(Yne revenue as doe5 Ihe Monday afternwn

This year (as last) we are Slill looking to replace Our front door and its 5urro(Jnds, h(l[￿llY
ve will be ablè to get LCC to do this for us, as their building inspe¢i(y pointcd out its
state of fypairl We would like the ne¥V (Joty Style to be a 51iding door, which )hill mean Ihat
Ive will have 10 than99 our other exit d¢)Ot in the kitchen. That door has no outside Icth.
¥thich will need to be rectif¢d. We vrfill need to get qu￿￿$ and may have to apply for a grant

Matk¢ting
As you know ¥ve deuded to dis¢ontinue the library website. which save<f us money that we

the case we will hopefully have il up and running shortly. We sts'ii advertise in the Sharnford
News, the Sa[￿te stsr the C(￿p.. the library and on Facebook.
La¥t year wa sent out a questionnaire to Sapcote and Sharnford reSIde￿ts asking what they
waDted from th&ir library. Unfortunaiely, when the replies were 8nalysad. most of what Wa5

Audit Report August 2023 to July 2024
l. Summary of accounts is £16.96 difference.
2. There has been limited record keeping for Income &
Expenditure.
3. Charity Box Income has not been shown clearly on Payments
into Bank Account.
4. Receipt Book has been used when making external
expenditure. The receipt book should only be used when
receiving income.
It has taken several months trying to correct the accounts.
Without correct paperwork I have not been able to reconcile the
account5 but as there is only a £16.96 difference I propose we write
this off.
We must set up corrert accounting procedures that are clear and
understandable for all Volunteers in the future.
