## **Structure, governance and management**
The charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) foundation formed on 3 June 2016 and is governed by a constitution as amended 6 April 2023.
## **Method of recruitment and appointment of trustees**
The trustees of the charity are appointed by the trustees at a duly convened meeting.

## **Objectives and activities**
## **The charity's objects**
To relieve the needs of autistic children, their parents, families and carers by all or any of the following means:
1) Carrying out training sessions for parents and carers that give them an understanding of autism as well as strategies to deal with communication, sensory and behavioural issues and sleep.
2) Delivering family activities for autistic children, their siblings and their parents/carers in a safe environment that will enhance their skills and give them the opportunity to try new play activities and make friendships.
## **The charity's main activities**
Over the year we have offered 1:1 crisis support, over the phone and face to face. Support at school meetings Supporting parents through parental request for statuary assessment Supporting parents with mediation Support with hospital appointments Combined Lego and gaming into a (youth group) Pre-school stay and play Joint support work with Social care, Early support Hub, and other charities. Holiday Clubs Monthly craft and sensory group. Parent’s drop in cuppa and chat group
## **Public benefit statement**
In setting our objectives and planning our activities our Trustees have given serious consideration to the Charity Commission’s general guidance on public benefit.
## **Achievements and performance**
Another extremely busy year for the charity, with more referrals put forward of parents in crisis due to failing and wrong school placement, provision failures and lack of SEN provisions.
Unfortunately, we still have waiting lists for people to access the services that the charity offer. This is due to the high volume of parents needing help and the capacity that the current volunteers can provide.
We have supported with more parental requests for statutory assessment than any previous year, which has led to more mediations due to families being refused.
We have been lucky enough to start working with one of the local family hubs. We have therefore moved our youth group and parent support group to the new location.
The youth group is great and the young people are leading this group and making it into the group that they want it to be. Since the location move, the young people have asked to rename the group to the amount of outdoor space that they have to be called Autism Explorers.
All of our groups are consistently offering support to the families that need it.

## **Financial review**
The net payments for the year were £27,483, including net payments of £8,083 on unrestricted funds and net payments of £19,400 on restricted funds.
## **Reserves policy**
The charity's free reserves, at the year end were £66,064.
Beat Autism policy is to hold a 12-month reserve to ensure that the children that we support have consistency in all the activities that we offer.

## Independent examiner's report to the trustees of Beat Autism
I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the CIO for the year ended 31 March 2025, which are set out on pages 6 to 9.
## **Responsibilities and basis of report**
As the charity trustees of the CIO you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act').
I report in respect of my examination of the CIO's accounts as carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act. In carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
## **Independent examiner's statement**
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:
1 accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Charities Act; 2 the accounts do not accord with those records.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

## **1 Accounting policies**
## **Basis of accounting**
The trustees have taken advantage of section 133 of the Charities Act 2011 and have prepared the accounts on a receipts and payments basis.
There has been no change to the accounting policies since last year.
No changes have been made to the accounts for previous years.
## **Taxation**
As a charity the organisation benefits from rates relief and is generally exempt from income tax and capital gains tax but not from VAT. Irrecoverable VAT is included in the cost of those items to which it relates.
## **Fund accounting**
Unrestricted funds are available for use at the discretion of the trustees in furtherance of the general objectives of the charity.
Restricted funds are subjected to restrictions on their expenditure imposed by the donor or through the terms of an appeal.
Further explanation of the nature and purpose of each fund is included in the notes to the accounts.

## **Trustee remuneration and benefits**
Sharon Firth is the Founder of Beat Autism and is married to John Firth (Trustee). Sharon provides freelance work for the charity and is paid as agreed by the Chair, Treasurer and Secretary. Authority for the payment comes from the charity's constitution and general provisions of the Charities Act 2011.
