Section D Achievements and erformance p

Due to the Covid Pandemic, during the year 1[st] April 2020 to **Summary of the main** 31.March 2021 the Charity has been virtually dormant. The **achievements of the** Centre has been used for the continuing Bread and Butter **charity during the year** scheme (FCHO) and the Boxes of Hope project. There have however been no lettings to groups. In addition to keeping the Centre clean and tidy, the trustees have been able to meet by zoom, and also, between two of the lockdowns, there was a face to face meeting

## **Section E Financial review**

The absence of lettings and grant income has resulted in the **Brief statement of the** chairty experiencing a poor year financially with a trading loss **charity’s policy on** arising as a result of the need to keep the building clean and **reserves** warm. This loss was subsequently addressed by a grant of £8000 which was made through the local authority in the next financial year (2021-2022). There is no financial deficit save the trading deficit referred to **Details of any funds** above and which has been dealt wth by means oof a grant. **materially in deficit Further financial review details (Optional information)** The Charity hopes that in due course it will be in a position to be You **may choose** to include self-funding and able to initiate projects itself. Until income from additional information, lettings is sufficient to do this the Centre will continue to seek where relevant about: help from grant funding, and from the Local Authority. • the charity’s principal sources of funds (including any fundraising); • how expenditure has supported the key objectives of the charity; • investment policy and objectives including any ethical investment policy adopted.

## **Section F Other optional information**

The progress made by the Charity over the last 12 months gives reasons for optimism for the future. It is likely that the Centre, and therefore the Charity, is close to being financially viable, but there are still significant outgoings which continue to be met by the Local Authority. SMCT does not envisage being in a financial position to take over complete control of the centre in the immediate future. Prior to the pandemic a target date of 1.4.21 had been considered, but this has now been placed in suspension. There will be continuing discussions with the Local Authority over this. Although the present situation works reasonably well, if the charity had exclusive control and legal status in relation to the building, there would be greater potential to seek grant funding for its improvement, maintenance and usage. The continued success of the Charity is in no small measure the result of the hard but unpaid voluntary work put into its management by a small number of local residents.
