Rev Janet Heighton, Colin Throp. ## STRUCTURE & GOVERNANCE Ormskirk Deanery Mission Group is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) registered with the Charity Commissioner: Charity Number 1167438. ## FINANCIAL RISK Ormskirk Deanery Mission Group receives funding from the Liverpool Diocesan Board of Finance, Mission and Growth Fund and donations from church members within the deanery. Funds received are then distributed in accordance with the objects of the charity. Ormskirk Deanery Mission Group has implemented internal controls for annual accounts, cash and cheque handling. Funds paid out will never be in excess of funds received and held. ## OBJECT The Object of Ormskirk Deanery Mission Group CIO is:- The advancement of the Christian Faith in the Ormskirk Deanery in the Diocese of Liverpool by working alongside, encouraging and supporting the Church of England churches, group of churches and partners in such ways as the trustees shall determine, including by making grants. The main activity of the charity in 2021 was focussed on providing funds to support the Deanery Mission Plan. Church finances have been badly affected by the pandemic but only one request was received from the parishes. This was to cover a temporary position at Christ Church, Newburgh, utilising the curate from St John’s, Burscough. This application was considered by the leadership team under the Mission and Growth scheme and found to be compliant with the aims of the Fund. The leader of Red Church has moved on and it has not been possible to replace him. As such, the Restricted Fund for Red Church, which was for Mission in Ormskirk will be incorporated into the General Fund for Mission and Growth within the Deanery. ## FINANCIAL REVIEW Reserves policy - The trustees agreed to retain £1,000 as reserves for the charity. In 2021, some funds received were restricted to supporting the work of Red Church. Funds received primarily consisted of tax effective giving from one donor through the Parish Giving Scheme and grants from a supporting church. There was no expenditure to support Red Church. ## COMMITMENTS FOR 2022 As the charity develops and the Diocesan Mission and Growth funds come into play more it is hoped to appoint other future leaders in line with diocesan guidelines for deaneries, together with others on top of this as funds allow. This will all help the object of the charity to be fulfilled.
