The minutes of the Annual Parochial Church Meeting APCM) held on Sunday May 19[th] 2024, at 12:30 pm in St. Martin of Tours Church, Pastoral Centre

1. OPENING PRAYER – REV. TIM BRAMPTON

  1. Appointment of Clerk – Lori McGreevy appointed clerk for this meeting all in attendance for meeting were in favour of this appointment.

  2. Election of Church Wardens Both Elkin Neblett and Daphne Plant were nominated by Chris Brampton and Roger Hobson all present at meeting were in favour of this.

  3. Approval of the minutes from May 21[st] , 2023, approved proposed by Chris Brampton and second by Daphne Plant and all present for this meeting were in favour.

  4. Deanery synod – Bob and Cynthia Easby were representatives for this but due to personal reasons were not able to attend the meetings but did present a synopsis of a meeting they did speak about more involvement by church members is needed to join and what is involved when you are involved with the deanery synod.

6. Electoral Roll – Roger Hobson gave report, and the number of members enrolled is 73 and of those 51 are residents in the parish and 22 are nonresident.

  1. Bell Tower Report – Roger Hobson gave report for this and there were many activities through out the year that the bell tower was involved in including a situation where vandals had glued the lock on the door to tower and were unable to use the bell tower on one Sunday due to this.

  2. Treasurer Report – Mike Lowe gave report and presented a copy of the fnances for 2023 discussed what was involved with some expenditures /purchases and also renting of the pastoral centre has increased income and bargain box brought In less this year also regarding donations made by the church and also thanks to Tracy Whitt for covering shortfall for the cost of anniversary dinner and a donation made from the will of Ron Whitt and increase of revenue from raising rent for Renew counselling who uses the old church hall . The accounts and independent examiners report were accepted and all that were present at this meeting approved and accepted this report.

  3. Wardens report – was given by Elkin Neblett discussing all activities the church had throughout the year and improvements made to the church, increase in attendance in church Fr. Grahm and Nicks involvement with our church and thanked all who are involved in helping our church especially with some maintenance problems that occurred with things that needed repair, also importance of Safeguarding/DBS positions that are needed to be flled.

10. PCC Report – The report was not made available due to the absence of the PCC Secretary because of personal reasons.

  1. Priest Report – Rev. Tim he spoke about the changes with his roll w. He thanked everyone for their support with changes in the church with the uniting of 2 local churches St. Andrews and Holy Cross he is now the Reverend of

these and St. Martins, he also is the Rev. to the Mayor of Basildon and many organizations throughout the Basildon area including the cadets. He spoke about the importance of our church growing in the community and the importance of our church in the changes that will come into the future with the development of many new housings being built in the area and new business growth to our community. This will bring a growth to our church and community and the importance of that.
