Celebrnting I S years of Cumbria Pride has been a remarkable journey, and it's been an honour to be
part of it! Our Pride event on 21 September was the highligh( but the year came with its share of
challenges. especially with a small team of active volunteers and the impact of the cost of living crisis
on fundraising and sponsorship. Despite these hurdles. we worked hard to maintain a strong
Presen￿ across Cumbri& focusing on raising awareness and gathering donations to keep our main
Pride event fr&.
We wrapped up our 'Create with Pride, projecL whith explored posltive aspeccs of LGBT+ history
with secondary-age children and young people. The group loved creatlng banners. videos, and a
displays* and we hope they wlll continue exploring LG8T+ history and finding creative ways to share
it with their peers. We're deeply grateful to the National Lottery Heritage Grnnt for funding this
dluable Inltla¢lve.
We also received supporr from the Ford Britaln Trust towards our 'Make with Pride, projeo which
bring arts and crafts attivities to LGBT+ families with young children. We are thrilled to have
obtalned fundlng from the National Lot*ry Community Fund to expand thls prolecc further, offering
regular sessions in Carllsle whilst also reaching communltles across Cumbria. We're exciced to
contlnue these creative sessions into next year.
Thanks to a Magic Little Grant from the Postcode Lottery. we hosted our first 'LGBTea' whith vrds
an afternoon ￿a event wlth entertalnmenc for our older LGBT+ community. This was a huge
success, leading us to host a second 'LGBTea'. and we hope to bring even more in the coming year.
Our 'Connett With Pride, projecL funded by Children In Need. is off to a strong srarL providing
LGBT+ e￿tS for children with a focus on wellbeing. Our first event in Penrith offered
entertainmenL ar¢ crafts. and games as well as information and supporo and we look forward to
continuing thls work thanks to ongoing support from Children in Need.
We've been attivety promotlng our 'Friends of Cumbria Pride. schem& which highlights LG8T+
friendly spaces and services throughout Cumbria and our surrounding area& It's inspiring to see
more organisations joining us. and engaging with our LGBT+ awareness trdining that drnws on lived
experiences.
In the lead up to our Pride evenL we organised a second LGBT+ informatlon day in Carlisle's town
centre and attended numerous community events across Cumbria. We were also thrilled to support
our local Prlde events. wltnessing how Prlde is growing in our region.
Our main event this year featured 15 incredible acts, ro celebrate 15 years of Cumbria Pride. The
lineup vtss a fantastic mlx of returning favourites and fresh face& and we welcomed our largest
group of srallholders to date, making this our biggest Pride celebrntion yeL Cumberland Council
generously provided gazebos and tables and our volun￿er area was funded by the BSW Cornmunity

We recelved wonderful feedback particularly for our accesslble toilet and changing are& funded by
the Castles and Coasts Housing Association Community Fund through Cumbrla Community
Foundation. Our event was further supported by Cumbria Deaf Assoclatlon who provided BSL
interpretatlon, OutREACH Cumbria who offered an LGBT+ thernplst on slt& Period Equality for All
who supplied free sanitary products, and Tesco Rosehill who donated tuckshop Items. These
contributions made our event more inclusive, truly embodylng the splrit of Pride as a celebrntion of
equallty and acceptance. The presence of attendees with a wide range of abilities made the event
more representatlve of the full spectrum of the LG8T+ communlty, whlch In turn helped challen8e
strreotypes and promote understandlng among the broader communlty.
We are Incredlbly thankful to all the organlsations that supported us thls year. Indudlng Atom Packs,
Carllsle Uniced. Cumbrla CrlckeL Famlly Actlon, the Fleece ar Ruleholme. North CumbrSa Integrnted

As we look forward to the 16th year of Cumbrla Prlde. we are mlndful that success wlll depend on
hard work recrultlng more volunteers, and the ongolng support of our local buslnesses and
organlsatlons.
Peter Harrlson, Trustee
Cumbrta Prtde 2024 marked my first year as a trustee. It was great to see so many attend the event

Throughout the year prlde has also held fdfiou5 fundrdlsers and events and connect wlth events
klndty sponsored by chlldren In need and our LGBTea afternoons funded by the p05tcode lottery's
maglc little granL
These events have been attended by and appealed to a wlde group of ages and we'll be looking to
expand on these as we go into our 16th year. As well as diversfying our events to brlng In even
