## DISABILITY ART, CULTURE AND HISTORY (DACH)

## Objectves and Public Beneft 

DACH is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation established to advance disability art, history and culture. Its principal objectives include preserving and promoting the history of invalid carriages and mobility vehicles, maintaining the Invalid Carriage Register, www.invalidcarriageregister.org supporting research and education, and working towards the establishment of an Invalid Carriage Museum. The trustees have had due regard to the Charity Commission's public benefit guidance. 

## Actvites and Achievements 

During the year the charity continued to operate entirely through volunteers. Although the continuing effects of COVID-19 limited opportunities for face-to-face activities and project development, the trustees continued to deliver public benefit through research, heritage and public engagement. 

## Activities included: 

- Maintaining the Invalid Carriage Register website as a free public historical resource. 

- Supporting museums, including Preston Park Museum, and private owners with research and preservation of historic invalid carriages. 

- Providing historical advice relating to vehicle records and DVLA matters where appropriate. 

- Developing and Publishing '50 Years of Mobility Scooter History', documenting the development of the mobility scooter and making this history available to the public. 

- Continuing development work towards the long-term objective of establishing an Invalid Carriage Museum. 

## Financial Review 

The charity received no income and incurred no expenditure during the financial period. The closing cash balance at 1 January 2023 was £334.50. The charity remained financially stable and continued to operate entirely through voluntary effort. 

## Structure, Governance and Management 

DACH is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation governed by its Constitution. The charity has no paid staff and is managed by its trustees, supported by volunteers. 

## Approval 

This Trustees’ Annual Report covers the financial period from 2 January 2022 to 1 January 2023 . The trustees approved this report at a meeting held on the 29[th] of June 2026,  and 



authorised its submission to the Charity Commission as part of the charity’s work to bring its statutory reporting up to date. The delay in submission was partly caused by the serious accident involving DACH’s voluntary director, Simon McKeown , on 5 July 2023 , which significantly affected administrative capacity.
