Fare Shop Registered Charity No 1167051 Trustees, Annual Report and Accounts 1 April 2024- 31 December 2024 The charitable object of Fare Shop is for the public benefit. the prevention or relief of food poverty of people living in Creater Manchester by operating a community grocery, providing surplus food froTn supermarkets to individuals in need, to relieve their needs and prevent hunger. This report covers the period i April to 31 December 2024, resulting from the decision taken at the Annual General Meeting on 1 September 2024, to change Fare Shop's financial year from previously 1 April to 31 March to furthermore coincide with the calendar yeor. In the months of April to December 2024 Fare Shop was assisted by 15 volunteers, collectively contributing some 4000 hours of service supported 709 people in 257 member families saved 21.5 tonnes of food trom landfill enabled 51,000 meals worth approximately £97.000 A tourth Trustee, Mr5 Julia Fuller, joined Fare Shop's management and administrative team on 12 September 2024. In the current accounting period of nine months, Fare Shop's cash funds increased from £48,692.63 on 1 April 2024 to £54,262.13 on 31 December 2024. Income and expenditure were proportionately in line with the previous accounting period of twelve Tnonths. Income exceeded expenditure and any surplus is being reinvested in Fare Shop by ensuring the more consistent availability of ba51C grocery and household items. Since its inception, Fare Shop has been keen to provide healthy food options and especially f resh produce for its members. In January 2024, Fare Shop moved from charging the nominal sum of twenty pence forgenerous quantities of fresh fruit and vegetables to giving away produce forfree. This move resulted in a phenomen31 increase in the uptake of fresh produce. Consequently* all our members and their families now have regular access to healthy food options. The p051tive teedback we receive, especially about children enjoying fruit on a regular basis, is particularly pleasing.
