## **Chairman’s Report of 2020 Wednesday 29[th] September 2021** 

I find it difficult to report at the AGM on the previous year when we are close to the end of next period of time.  However this year, we are reporting on a year when things stood still, during the lockdowns and withdrawal from public events. It was framed by the last public event in March, the annual Quiz, just before the first lockdown, and ended by the successful Appeal to the Friends Association and to personal friends, to whom we owe much gratitude.  In fact we, the Committee were not inactive, nor indeed were the Friends who maintained their regular monthly donations and to those others who made one-off donations during the year.  I do recall a measure of anxiety in running the Quiz at that time but it was really such a good evening on which to begin our suspension. 

**The Newsletter:** Helen, Graham and Louise put together a very attractive Appeal Newsletter which was so well received, and inspired a return, helping to keep funds flowing to our Pazapa school and clinic -  our thanks to them all.   And to all of you, who supported this cause during that time. 

**Regular Donations:** I want to draw attention  to the trend which we have seen grow over the years and particularly this year kept Pazapa in the public mind and I want to celebrate this with you.  I would like this to go out to the Friends. It was 88% of giving plus Gift Aid that sustained our contribution in 2020.  In a more regular year with 3 events it was 55%. The events themselves can raise that proportion of our total funds even more. 

I want to finally thank all our Friends, Supporters and interested people for your attention to our cause, your commitment and support.  I want again to express my profound thanks for the loyalty of the members of the Committee, everyone, including those who after many years have stood down; and of course, the enjoyment of working with such a great and generous group of people.
