Para 1.20 Funding

The charity was successful in continuing
to raise funds this year and received
multiple donations from individuals and
foundations
Donations

In the year past the charity used its
available funds to make donations to
Angkor Hospital for Children in
Cambodia (“AHC Cambodia”)

AHC Cambodia is an independent, non-
profit paediatric healthcare organisation
located in Siem Reap, Cambodia

AHC Cambodia continued to be
approved as a recipient of funds from
the charity, subject to the continuing and
satisfactory due diligence of AHC
Cambodia’s operations

In order to comply with the highest
governance standards required by
donors to AHC Cambodia, the
management of AHC Cambodia has
implemented a Conflict of Interest Policy.
All Trustees of AHC UK have read and
understood it, and agreed to comply with
its terms
Benefits to society

Through the donations to AHC
Cambodia, the charity contributed to the
improvement of healthcare delivered to
Cambodian children

The charity supported AHC Cambodia’s
vision for all Cambodian children to have
access to quality compassionate medical
care wherever they live and whatever
their ability to pay

42% of Cambodia’s children suffer from
malnutrition and 1 in 3 still does not
receive the basic healthcare they need

Cambodia has one of the highest death
rates for children under five years of age
in Asia (World Bank, 2020)

Leading causes of death are
complications at birth, pneumonia, birth
defects, diarrhoea and malaria – all
preventable or treatable (WHO, 2020)

Cambodia has a rate of 2 doctors for
10,000 people vs. 27 doctors for 10,000
people in the UK (WHO, 2014)

• Following were some of the key achievements of AHC Cambodia in 2023: o Treatment: provided over 102,224 treatments from outpatient care and performed 14,200 minor and major surgical operations; o 4,894 children stayed in the inpatient department and 1,588 were treated in the specialist intensive care unit; o Positive trend for key performance indicators: maintained hand hygiene levels at their highest with 95% compliance to hand hygiene standards in 2023; healthcareassociated infection incidents at lower rate than the average developed country o Infrastructure: many critical medical equipment units were upgraded or replaced in 2023 o Education: focused efforts on developing one of Cambodia’s leading paediatric hospitals into a much broader healthcare operation, providing training for government students, medical students, health workers, community members and caregivers o In 2023, AHC Cambodia published 18 articles in premier, peer-reviewed international journals o Use below link for additional information: o https://angkorhospital.org/wp- content/uploads/2024/07/2023 Annual-Report-1.pdf

in operational practice, will aim to keep
the cash balance some hundreds of
pounds higher. Cash in excess of this
will be transmitted to the charity’s
approved beneficiary as it arises

Dear Sir or Madam

Independent examiner’s report to the trustees of Angkor Hospital for Children UK

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of Angkor Hospital for Children UK (the Charity) for the year ended 31 March 2024.

Responsibilities and basis of report

As the trustees of the Charity you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).

I report in respect of my examination of the Charity’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

Independent examiner’s statement

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

  1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Charity as required by section 130 of the Act;

or

  1. the accounts do not accord with those records.

Docusign Envelope ID: 5DE8493A-3D60-4A74-AC4F-5FA9DE991FE7

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

Yours faithfully,
