Funding The charity was successful in continuing to raise funds this year and received multiple donations from individuals and corporates Donations In the year past the charity used its available funds to make donations to Angkor Hospital for Children in Cambodia (“AHC Cambodia”) AHC Cambodia is an independent, non-profit paediatric healthcare organisation located in Siem Reap, Cambodia AHC Cambodia continued to be approved as a recipient of funds from the charity, subject to the continuing and satisfactory due diligence of AHC Cambodia’s operations In order to comply with the highest governance standards required by donors to AHC Cambodia, the management of AHC Cambodia has implemented a Conflict of Interest Policy. All Trustees of AHC UK have read and understood it, and agreed to comply with its terms Benefits to society Through the donations to AHC Cambodia, the charity contributed to the improvement of healthcare delivered to Cambodian children The charity supported AHC Cambodia’s vision for all Cambodian children to have access to quality compassionate medical care wherever they live and whatever their ability to pay 42% of Cambodia’s children suffer from malnutrition and 1 in 3 still does not receive the basic healthcare they need Cambodia has a rate of 2 doctors for 10,000 people vs. 27 doctors for 10,000 people in the UK (WHO, 2014) Following were some of the key achievements of AHC Cambodia in 2020: oIncreases in malnutrition, the need for preventativehealthcare education, the delays in care-seeking, and other knock-on effects from COVID-19 led the hospital to work harder to fill a critical role in ensuring every child received the care they needed. oTreatment: provided over 97,000 treatments, fromoutpatient care to specialty services. oPositive trend for key performance indicators: handhygiene levels at their highest with 93% compliance to hand hygiene standards in 2020; average waiting time in AHC’s Outpatient Department at its lowest on record (167 minutes); healthcare-associated infections at lower rate than the average developed country. oEducation: focused efforts on developing one ofCambodia’s leading paediatric hospitals into a much broader healthcare operation, providing training for government students, medical students and health |
workers. In 2020, AHC published 13 articles in premier, peer-reviewed journals

Financial Review

Review of the charity’s Para 1.21 The charity had a cash position of
financial position at the end £20,503 at the end of the period
of the period Reason for the significant cash position
at the end of the period: delay between
donation receipt and transfer to AHC
Cambodia
Statement explaining the Para 1.22 The charity trustees adopted the
policy for holding reserves following Risk and Reserves policy in
stating why they are held June 2018:
Risk: the trustees believe the risks for
the charity to be minimal given limited
operating expenses, no liabilities and
the fact that the charity pay money out
only when it has been received
Reserves: the trustees believe that
Reserves are needed only to cover
estimated operating expenses for the
coming 12 months. The trustees
therefore proposed that cash at bank
should not, in normal instances, be
allowed to drop below this number and,
in operational practice, will aim to keep
the cash balance some hundreds of
pounds higher. Cash in excess of this
will be transmitted to the charity’s
approved beneficiary as it arises
Amount of reserves held Para 1.22 During the past year, the charity was
operated so as to keep at least a
minimum of £500 risk reserve

Dear Sir or Madam
Independent examiner’s report to the trustees of Angkor Hospital for Children UK
I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of Angkor Hospital for Children UK (the Charity) for the year ended 31 March 2021.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the trustees of the Charity you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).
I report in respect of my examination of the Charity’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
Independent examiner’s statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:
- accounting records were not kept in respect of the Charity as required by section 130 of the Act;
or
- the accounts do not accord with those records.
