November 2024.
Objectives and activities
Objects and aims
Charitable donations or grant5 from Ihe Charity are made to causes close lo the family's heart Ihal have been
supported for numerous years. Donalions or grants are discussed amongsl the trustees before decisions are
made. The main objective of the Charity 15 to SUPPOrt institutions Ihiouyli Ilie PTUViblUli ul tjonolions and grants.
Public bÈnefit
The Trustees confirm that they have complied with the requiretnents of section 4 of the Charities Act 2011 to
have due regard to the public benefit guidance published by the Charity Commission for England and Wales.
Financial review
Policy on reserves
Reserves carried forward at the period end loial £379.701 (2023 - £265,487) for unrestricted funds.
11 is Ihe policy of the Charity that unrestricted funds which have nol been designated for a specific use should be
maintained at a level equivalent lo between three- and six-monlh's expenditure. The Iruslees consider that
reseNos al this level will ensure that. in the event of a sigisificdnl drop in funding, Ihey will Oe able to coniinue Ihe
Charity's current activities while consideralion is given to ways in which additional funds may be raised. This level
of reserves has been maintained throughout the ycar. The trustees have assessed the major risks to which the
Ifust is exposed and are satisfied that syslems are in place to mitigate exposure to the major risks.
Principal funding sources
The Charity's principal funding source is from donations and Ip.gar.ies. Donalions received are principally from
the Gordon family.

Nature of governing document
The Charity was set up in 2016 and established by Charitable Trust Deed daled 29 November 2015. The
trustees meet on a quarterly basis lo discuss the Charitrfs ongoing activities and fulure plans.
Recruitment and appointment of trustees
The recruilment of truslees are from Ihe Gordon family. New trustees are appointed by the exisling trustees. All
of the trustees are members of the Charity.
Objectives and policies
The Charitls activities expose il to a number of financial risks including credit risk. cash flow risk and liquidity
risk. The use of financial derivatives is govemed by the Charitys policies approved by the board of Iruslees,
which provide written principles on the use of financial derivatives to manage these risks. The Charity does nvl
use derivative financial instruments for speculative purposes.
Going Concern Consideration
In light of the recent cost of living and energy crisis. the trustees have reviewed the impact on the Charity.
Following this review. the trustees consider there to be little impact on Ihe Charily's ability lo acl as a going
concern.

The Truslees are responsible for preparing the Trustees, report and the financial slalemenls in accordance wilh
applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (Uniled Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting
Practice).
The law applicable to charities in England & Wales requires the Trustees to prepare financial statements for
each financial which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the Charily and of ils incoming resources
and application of resour￿5. including ils income and expenditure. for that period. In preparing these financial
statements. the Trustees are required to:
select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistenUy-
observe the methods and principles of the Charities SORP (FRS 102);
make judgements and accounting estimales Ihat are reasonable and prudent:

in carrying out my examinalion I have followed the applicable Direclions given by Ihe Charily Commission under
section 145(51{b) of the 2011 Act.

Your attention is drawn lo Ihe fact that the Charity has prepared the accounts in accordance wilh Accounting and
Reporting by Charities: Stalement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in
accordance wilh the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) in
preference lo the Accounting and Reporting by ChAritips- Slatpment of Recommended Practice issupd on 1 April
2005 which is referred to in Ihe extant regulations but has been withdrawn.

Accounting policies
1.1 BASIS OF PREPARATION OF FINANCIAL STATEMENTS
The financial slatements have been prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP IFRS 102}
Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Stalemenl of Recommended Praclice applicable lo charilies
preparing Iheir accounls in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in Ihe UK
and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019), Ihe Financial Reporting Standard
applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 102) and the Charilies Act 2011.
The financial stalements have been prepared to give a 'true and fairf view and have departed from
Ihe Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 only lo the exlent required to provide a 'lrue
and fair. view. This departure has involved following the Charilies SORP IFRS 1021 published in
October 2019 rather than the Accounling and Reporting by Charilies: Stalemenl of Recommended
Practice effeclive from 1 April 2005 which has since been wilhdrawn.
The Gordon Family Charitable Trust Meets the definilion of a public benefit enlily under FRS 102.
Assets and liabilities are initially recognised at historical cost or Iransaction value unless olherwise
slated in the felevant accounting policy.
1.2 GOING CONCERN
In lighl of the recent cosl of living and energy crisis, the trustees have reviewed the impacl on the
Charity. Following this review. the trustees consider there to be little impacl on the Charity's ability to
acl a5 a going concern.
The Irusiees nave reviewed Ihe capilal resources available and consider that the Charity has
adequate resources in place in order to meet it's charitable objectives and aims for the nexl Iwelve
months.
1.3 INCOME
All income is recognised once the Charity has entit19mgnt to Iha income, il is probable that thc
income will be received and the amount of income receivable can be measured reliably.
Income and endowmenls
Voluntary income including donations. gifts. legacies and qrants that provide core funding or are of a
general nature is recognised when Ihe Charity has enlitlement to Ihe income, il is probable that the
income will be received and the amount can be measured with sufficienl reliabilily.

Donatlollb dnd legacies are recogniseo on a receivable basis when receipi is probaole and the
amounl can be reliably measured.

1.4 EXPENDITURE
Expenditure is recognised once there is a legal or constructive obligalion to transfer economic benefil
lo a third party. it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in settlemenl and
the amount of the obligation can be measured reliably. Expendilure is classified by aclivity. The costs
of each activity are made up of the total of direcl costs and shared costs. including support costs
nvolved in undertaking each activily. Direct costs attribulable to a single activity are allocated directly
to that activily.
Charitable activities
Charilable expendilure comprises those costs incurred by Ihe Charily in Ihe delivery of its aclivities
and services for ils beneficiaries. It includes bolh costs Ihal can be allocated directly lo such aclivities
ano Ihose costs of an Inoirecl nature necessary io support them.
Grant provision5
Provisions for grants are made when the intention lo make a grant has been communicated lo the
recipient bul there is uncertainly about either the timing of the grant or the amount of granl payable.
1.5 GOVERNANCE COSTS
These include the cosls attribuiable to the Charit￿$ compliance wilh conslilutionaS and stalulory
requirements, including audit, stralegic management and trustees meetings and reimbursed
expenses.
1.6 TAXATION
The Charily is exempl from taxation in respect of income or capilal gains received to the extent that
suGh inGotne or gain5 ale applied exdusively io charilable purp05es.
1.7 INVESTMENTS
Fixed asset investments are a fom of financial instrument and are initially recognised at their
transaction cost and subsequently measured at fair value al the Balance sheet date, unless the value
cannot be measured reliably in which case it is measured at cost less ifflpairment. Investment gains
and losses. whether realised or unrealised, are combined and presentecl as 'Gainsl(Losses) on
inveslments. in the Statement of financial activilies.
Unrealised gains and losses represent the movement in market values during the year and are
credited or charged to the Slatement of Financial Activities based on the market value at the year
end.
1.8 CASH AT BANK AND IN HAND
Cash at bank and in hand includes cash and short-term highly liquid investments with a short maturily
of three months or less from the date of acquisition or opening of ihe deposit or similar accounl.
1.9 LIABILITIES AND PROVISIONS
Liabilities are recognised when there is an obligation al the Balance sheet date as a result of a past
event. it is probable thal a transfer of economic benefit will be required in settlement. and Ihe amount
of the settlement can be estimated reliably.

1.10 FINANCIAL INSTRUMENTS
The Charity only has financial assels and financial liabililies of a kind that qualify as basic financial
inslrumenls. Basic financial inslrumenls are initially recognised at transaclion value and subseouently
measured at their settlement value wilh the excepiion of bank loans which are subsequently
measured at amortised cost using ihe effective inleresl method.
1.11 FUND ACCOUNTING
General funds are unrestricted funds which are available for use at Ihe discretion of the Trustees in
furtherance of the general objectives of Ihe Charily and which have not been designated for other
purposes.
Investment income, gains and losses are allocated to the appropriale fund.
