November 2023.
Objoctlve8 and activitioB
Objects and aims
Charitable donatr'ons or grants from the Charity are made to causes close to the famivs heart that have been
supported foT numerous years. Donation8 or grants are discussed amongst the trustees befor8 decisions are
made. The main objective of the Charity is to suppr)rt instr(ution$ through the provision of donations and grants.
Public benefit
The Trustees confirm that they have complied wth the requirements of section 4 of the Charities Art 2011 to
have due regard to the Publ￿ benefit guidan￿ published by the Charity Commission for England and Wales.

Poll¢y on reserves
Reserves carried forward at the period end total £265,48712022- £294,821} for unrestricted funds.
11 is the policy of the Charity that unreslrthd funds which have nol been designated for a specsfic use should be
maintained at a level equivalent to between three- and six-monlh's expenditure. The trustees consider that
reserve5 at this level will ensL*re that, in the event of a significant drop in funding, they will be able lo continue the
Chariws current activities while consideration 1$ given to ways in which additional funds may be raised_ This level
of reserves has been maintained throughout the year. The trustees have assessed the major risks to whrch the
trust is axposed and are satisfied trat systems are in place to mittgate èxposure to the major risks.
Princlpal funding sources
The Charity's principal funding source is from donations and iegacies. Donation8 received are principalty from
the Gordon family.

Nature of govorning document
The Charty was set up in 2016 and established by Charitable Trust Deed dated 29 November 2015. Tho
trustees meet on a quarterly basis to discuss the Charitys ongoing actwilies and future plans.
Recrultment and appointmènt of trustees
The recruitment of trustees are from the Gordon famity. New trustees are appointed by the exrdling trustees. All
of the trustees are members of the Charity.
Oblectives and policies
The Charivs adivilies expose it to a number of financisl risks including credit risk, cash ftow risk and liquidity
risk. The use of financial derivalive8 is governed by the Charitys policies approved by the board of trustees,
which provide wrttten principles on the use of financial derivatives to manage these risks. The Charity does not
L15e derivative financ￿81 instruments for speculalive purposes.
Going Concern Consld9ration
In IvJht of the recent cost of liwng and energy CTISIS. Ihe trustees have reviewed the impact on the Charity.
Following this review, the trustees consKler there to be little impact on the Charity5 8bilty to act as a going

requirements of the Charib'es Act 2011 (the 2011 ACVI.
I report in respect of my examination of the Charitys accounts Carrted out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and
in carrying out my examinat￿n I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under
section 14515llb} of the 2011 Act.

Your attention is drawn to the fact that the Charity has prepared Ihg accounts in accordance with Accounting and
Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in
accordance ￿th the Financial Reporting Stsndard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 in
Preference lo the Accounting and Reporting by Charities." Statement of Recommended Practice issued on 1 April
2005 which is referred to in the extant regulations bul ha$ been withdrawn.
l undefstand that this has been done in order for the accounts to provide a true and fair view in accordance with
the Generally Accepted A￿OUntIng Practice effective for reporting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2015.

1.1 BASIS OF PREPARATION OF FINANCIAL STATEMENTS
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP IFRS 1 Q21
Accounting and Reporbng by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable lo charities
preparing their accounts in accordance with the Fir￿n¢la1 Reporting Standard applicable in the UK
and Republr of Ireland IFRS 1021 leffeclive 1 January 20191, the Financial Reporting Stsndard
applicable in the UK and Republtc of Ireland IFRS 1021 and the Charit￿$ Act 2011.
The financial ststements have been PTepared to give a 'lrue and faif view and have departed from
the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 only lo the extent required to provide a 'lrue
and f8ii' view. This departure has involved following the Charities SORP IFRS 1021 published in
October 2019 rather than the Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended
Practic8 gffgclive from 1 April 2005 which has since been withdrawn.
The Gordon Family Charitable Trust meets the definition of a public benefit entity under FRS 102.
Assets and liabilities are initially recognised at historical cost or transaction value unless othen￿lSe
staled in the relevant accounting policy.
1.2 GOING CONCERN
In IKJhl of the recent cost of living and energy crisis, the Iruslees have reviewed the impact on the
Charity. Following this review. the Injstsès consider there to be little impact on the Charity's ability to
act as a going concern.
The trustees have reviewed th8 capitsl resources avai￿le and consider that the Charity has
adequate resources in place in order to meet ivs charitable objeelives and aims for the next twelve
months.
1.3 INCOME
All income is recognised once the ChaTity has enlttlemenl lo the income, il is probable that the
income will be received and the amount of income receivable ean be measured reliably.
In¢ome and èndowment8
Voluntary income including don*ions, gifts, legacies and grants that provide core funding or are of a
general nalute is recognised when the Charity has entitlement lo the income, it is probable that the
income will be received and the amount can be measured with sufficient reliability.
Donations and l•ga¢ios
Donations and legacies are ￿COgniSed on a receivable basis when receipt Is probable and the
amount can b8 reliably measured.

1.4 EXPENDITURE
Expenditure is recognised once there is a legal or constructive oblwJalion lo transfer economic benefft
lo a third party, it is probable that a transfer of eGoncYnic benefits will be required in setuement and
the amount of the obligation c8n be measured reliabty. Expenditure is classified by activity. The costs
of each actThiity are made up of the total of direct Costs and shared ¢051s, including support costs
involved in undertaking each aclivily. Direct costs attribLrtable to a single activity are 811ocaled directly
to that activity.
Charftable actSvltle8
Charitable expenditure comprises those costs incurred by the Charty in the delivery of its 8clivilies
and services for its b8n8fi¢iaries. 11 includes both costs that can be allocated directly to such activities
and those costs of an indirect nature necessary to support Ihgm.
Grant provisions
Provisions for grants are made when the intention lo make a grant h8s been communicated to the
recippnt bul there is uncertainty about either the timing of the grant or the amount of grant payable.
1.5 GOVERNANCE COSTS
These include the costs attributable to the Charitys compl¢ance with constitutional and slalulory
requirements, including audit. strategic management and trustees meetings and reimbursed
expenses.
1.6 TAXATION
The Charity is exempl from taxation in respect of income or capital gains re￿iVed to the extent that
such income or gains are applied exclusively lo charitable purposes.
1.7 INVESTMENTS
Fixed asset investments are a fomi of financial instrument and are inrtially recognised al their
transaction cost and subsequenlty measured at fair value at the Balance sheet dale, unless the value
cannot be measured reliably in which case il is measured at eost less impairment. Invèstsnenl oains
and losses, whether realised or unrealised, are combingd and piesenled as 'GainsllLossesl on
inveslmenls, in the Slalement of financial acliviti&s.
Unrealised gains and losses represent the movement in market values during the year and are
credited or charged lo the Statement of Financial Activities based on the market value at the year
8nd.
1.8 CASH AT BANKAND IN HAND
Cash at bank and in hand includes cash and short-lerm highly liquid investments with a short matur
of three months or less from the date of acquisition or opening of the deposit or similar account
1.9 LIABILITIES AND PROVISIONS
Liabilities are recognised when there 15 an obligation at the Balance sheet date as a result of a past
event, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefrt will be required in seldemenl. and the ￿OUnt
of the settlement can be estsmaled reliably.

1.10 FINANCIAL INSTRUMENTS
The Charity only has financial assets and financial liabilities of a kind that qualfy as basic financial
instruments. Basic financial instruments are initially recognised at transaction value and subsequently
measured al their settlement value with the exception of bank loans which are subsequently
measured at amortised cost using the effectNe interest method.

General funds are unrestr￿ted funds which are available for use at the dI￿retIOn of the Trustees in
furtherance of the general objectives of the Charity and which have not been designated for other
