n the
Report tothe trustees/members of Friends OfStreatham
Common
On accounts for the year ended 31"March 2021
Setout on pages 1-2
Respective responsibilities oftrustees The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year
and examiner (under section 43(2)ofthe Charities Act 1993(the Act)) and that an
independent
examination
is needed. It is my responsibility
to:
~ examine the accounts (under section 43ofthe Act),
~tofollow the procedures
laid down
in the General Directions given
by
the Charity Commission
(under section 43(7)(b)ofthe Act), and
~tostate whether
particular
matters
have come to my attention.
Basis ofindependent examiner's report My examination
was carried out in accordance with the General
Directions given by the Charity Commission.
An examination
includes a
review ofthe accounting
records kept by the charity and a
comparison of
the accounts presented
with those records. Italso includes
consideration
ofany unusual
items or disclosures
in the accounts, and seeking
explanations
from you asTrustees concerning
any such matters. The
procedures
undertaken
do not provide
all the evidence that would be
required
in an audit, and consequently
no opinion
is given
asto whether
the accounts present a 'true and fair view' and the report is limited to
those matters set out in the statement
below.
Independent examiner's statement In the course ofmy examination,
no matter has come to my attention:
1.Which gives me reasonable
cause to believe that in, any
material
respect, the requirements:
~to keep accounting
records in accordance with section
41ofthe Act;
and
~to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and
comply with the accounting
requirements
ofthe 1993Act
have not been met; or
2.Towhich,
in my opinion, attention
should be drawn
in order to enable
a proper understanding
ofthe accounts to be reached.

Only complete
ifthe examiner
needs to highlight
particular
problems
Give here brief details ofIssues that A significant effect ofthe Covid 19Pandemic
has been that it has not
the examiner wishes to disclose. been possible to examine
physical documents
and carry out discussions
with the Treasurer
in the usual manner. The Treasurer
has provided
all
necessary documentation
in electronic form, supported
by telephone
discussion.
Whilst not being able to do the work tothe usual level of
detail,
I believe that
I have been provided
with sufficient
information
to
be able to come to a reasonable
view ofthe accounts.
As in previous years, a finalcopy ofthe Trustees'
Annual
Report was not
available at this time. Similarly, as the Approved
Accounts were also not
available,
only a Final Draft ofAccounts could be reviewed.
The reasonableness
ofany significant estimates orjudgments
that have
been made in preparing
the Accounts has been assessed and accepted.
At the beginning
&end ofthe year Cash In Hand
is counted
&recorded
by
the Treasurer. Ofnecessity,
I was unable toverify these figures. However,
it isconsistent with the Accounts and, following
previous
recommendations,
the Closing value is significantly
reduced from last
year and considered to be not material.
Aside from Donations,
receipts this year have been broadly
in line with
previous years. The reduction ofE20,419istaken to reflect the
completion
and implementation
ofthe previous contract with D&G, since
substantial
expenditure
on environmental
improvements
costing E20727
have been undertaken.
Administrative
costs have risen in consequence,
but at E1,164(E727)are considered to reasonably
reflect the increased
activity.
A number ofitems for improvement
were identified
in previous reports
and the Trustees have advised that although
some further progress has
been made on implementation,
the advent ofa new Treasurer and the
Covid situation
has held back on their completion.
As and when the
situation eases, the Trustees may wish to review the pace and extent of
this work.
Finally,
in the light ofthe global situation,
it is worth noting that, should
all funding cease and the Trustees be required to return
all uncommitted
contractual
funds previously
received from D&G, then with current cash
funds ofES3,858 it is reasonable to expect that operations
could continue
at some level.
