Dom’s Food Mission is a Charitable Incorporated Association first registered with the Charity Commission in May 2016. The charities principal aim is to actively collect and distribute surplus in date food throughout Hastings and the surrounding areas. Trustees are elected to the board of Dom’s Food Mission at the Annual General Meeting ( AGM ) in accordance and requirements of the Constitution. Trustees are elected for a period of three years with retirements required on a rolling basis. Retiring trustees are eligible for re-election. All trustees give their time freely and no trustee remuneration are paid during the term for the role of trustee. Trustees are for guidance with the day to day operations executed by the Chief Executive Officer. Daily management is under the jurisdiction of Dom Warren ( Chief Executive Officer ) with tasks and duties carried out by a team of volunteers. ## **Brief History of Dom’s Food Mission** Dom’s Food Mission was born out of Dom Warren and Alex Warren’s concerns at seeing an ever increase problem of food insecurity within their home town of Hastings. So, in May 2015 Alex and Dom began their mission to tackle the issue of food poverty, soon realising that vast amount of surplus in date food was regularly going to landfill which could be going to people in need, Dom’s Food Mission was born. The ideology formed by Alex and Dom upon creating Dom’s Food Mission was that regardless of age, status, creed or colour all where welcome. Their first step was to set up a Facebook page explaining who they were, what the aim of Dom’s Food Mission was and would anyone like to donate food. 3 The response was overwhelming with over 50 people responding to the first call with food donations that enabled DFM to supply food to over 100 people in the local community. Dom’s Food Mission continued to grow through their volunteer program which allowed for regular bin drops/pick ups from supermarkets and distribution of food to the local community. A big milestone was Dom’s Food Mission first partnership deal with the local Marks and Spencer. Today, Dom’s Food Mission has a fleet of vans and a team of over 20 volunteers that collect surplus food seven days a week, 52 weeks a year, saving over 122 metric tons of surplus in date foods in 2021 from landfill and giving out food donations every week. ## **Review of the Activities and Achievements for the Year** The Covid pandemic is still ongoing and there is still ongoing restrictions resulting in Hastings, St Leonards on Sea and surrounding areas that are still affecting local communities. Dom’s Food Mission ( known as DFM ) is experiencing continual unprecedented demand for food donations which is still a community lifeline. Our regular partnerships continued to supply DFM with in date surplus food as per normal and the demand is increasing and outstripping supply. As local businesses began to slowly open their doors DFM got an increase in calls to collect in date surplus foods as the covid restrictions were still in place and not all local businesses were fully open which resulted in excess foods that DFM saved from landfill. Dom’s Food Mission set up all five Food Hubs which include Dom’s Food Mission Hub, Broomgrove, Ore, Hollington and Four Courts Food Hubs that are very much needed and has allowed DFM to reach further into the community. With thanks to a successful National lottery application DFM has a full - time employed Food Hub Co ordinator who manages all the five Food Hubs. Dom’s Food Mission was contacted by a parent asking if her son could some volunteering to help as part of his Duke of Edinburgh Award within his local school. DFM arranged for him to go out alongside our DFM team and gain what was needed. D of E volunteer helping the DFM team D of E volunteer out helping the DFM team 6 ## **Boot Hunger Out / Charity Football Events** There have been charity football matches in aid of Doms Food Mission ( DFM ) and our football movement _**Boot Hunger Out**_ . By having these football events we are using the the beautiful game to help open eyes and hearts and raise awareness and hopefully funds to help feed more people in need. Special thanks to Team Harvey Official and Marlon Harewood, sponsors and players. Both charity matches were held on 1 august 2021 at Dorking Wanderers FC and 12 September 2021 at Horsham FC. ## **Below are supporting images of the Charity Football Matches.** 7 ## **DFM Ambassador** Doms Food Mission are proud to have Harvey as our latest DFM Charity Ambassador. Harvey is working very hard to help DFM grow and to push the importance of the charity to many eyes from many backgrounds making sure the vital impact is made and no child goes hungry. Alongside DFM and our other charity ambassadors we form a solid team. ## **DFM Ambassador, Harvey.** 8 ## **- DFM Ambassador Marlon Harewood** DFM Ambassador, Marlon Harewood came to visit Doms Food Mission Hub and help spread the awareness of stopping surplus and donated food items from hitting landfill and handing out to others in need with the food items saved. Marlon Harewood also signed our charity football ( _**Boot Hunger Out )**_ for children today. ## **Below are supporting images.** ## **DFM Ambassador, Marlon Harewood with Dom Warren** 9 ## **Teaming up with SKY** Doms Food Mission were very proud to team up with SKY to go that extra mile in helping our communities. As SKY is such a huge company they have set high goals to do more that will impact others. The SKY team of volunteers are with DFM every Tuesday helping packing surplus and donated food items and once loaded up on the vans they then deliver the much needed food parcels to those in need under DFM guidance and structure. 10 ## **Helping Hand Project in Schools** Doms Food Mission finally after the Covid 19 Pandemic prevented us from continuing with the schools project, we were able to get back into the schools. Creating beautiful meals with the children all from surplus and donated food items and making sure nothing is wasted and these incredible children take the meals home. Our Helping Hand Project is really showing our future of tomorrow how to save food and learn vital skills in making hearty healthy meals. We have the Helping hand Project in local schools which are Sandown Primary School and New Horizons School. ## **An example of a message sent by one of the schools to Doms Food Mission** . _“ Thank you so much for the opportunity that you have given our children today ! You are a star! “_ ## **Below are supporting images.** 11 ## **Fundraising Events in aid of Doms Food Mission** The fantastic Sussex Comic Con hosted a two day event for Doms Food Mission Charity. This two day event was held at Robertsbridge Community College. Doms Food Mission also with teaming up with Russell and the team at Harolds Hog roast had their first ever _Domfest_ consisting of Local live bands, hog roast, a bar and much more. Two amazing local people, did a sky dive and an ultra marathon to help spread awareness and raise funds for DFM charity. **Below are supporting images.** 12 ## **DFM Santas Grotto** DFM knew how Christmas is a tough time for many and especially with coming out of Covid 19 pandemic that through the year we wanted to invite children and families that may miss the magical opportunity to meet Santa at the DFM Santas grotto. Putting on this wonderful experience was a team effort through the DFM charity and volunteers and many local businesses and kind and generous gift donations that all of this was possible to enable every child to receive a present from Santa. **Below are supporting images.** ## **The Santas Grotto was a great success and a messages from a local lady.** “Thank you so much for making my grand babies day.The twins weren’t sure on Santa lol. Merry Christmas to you all. “ 13 ## **The planned future for DFM, moving forward** We have our new DFM Ambassador Harvey who alongside Marlon Harewood with DFM are continuing to organise and plan more Celebrity football matches alongside the DFM “ Boot Hunger Out “ charity football. DFM are in discussion with Matt Edmonds ( thelankywalker ) as this incredible individual would like to support DFM by walking 370 miles from Hastings to Snowdon and raise awareness and money for Doms Food Mission. DFM are in talks with some local businesses to support DFM with a named drink ( still in the planning ) , and with every drink sold the charity would receive a donation. DFM will continue to move forward in more fundraising events as now its more easier to organise with coming out of the Covid 19 Pandemic. DFM are planning to recruit more volunteers for the charity. We will continue to deliver food parcels to people in need and as the five food hubs are progressing we can then direct more of the local community to these hubs.
