Section C Objectives and activities
Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document
For the public benefit in advancement of health, by the prevention of and relief for people suffering from Brain and Kidney Disease. Achieved by providing funding for research into the prevention and treatment of these illnesses. Supporting sufferers and their families. Also, in raising awareness of these life limiting and ending diseases.

BK’S HEROES continues to be a family run charity. Its current trustees are mother, father, brother and cousins to its founder Ben KING. Ben had suffered with kidney disease from infancy and was further diagnosed with brain cancer at age 25. He decided after this diagnosis that he wished to begin fundraising to be able donate £10,000 to both Kidney and brain disease research as his way of thanking these areas of the NHS, who had cared for and looked after him so professionally throughout his life.
Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)
Ben sadly passed away before he could see his dream come to fruition, whilst only 27 years old, however, he asked his parents to carry on his dream before he went to sleep for the last time.
It was his wish that monies raised would be donated to relevant research programs to aid in the search for cures, earlier diagnosis and improved treatment for patients suffering these diseases. He also wished to have awareness of these diseases raised and to aid patients and families struggling with the weight of having to live with these illnesses and their ongoing treatment.
Providing monetary, physical and emotional support to those suffering from these illnesses and their families.
Raising Awareness
One of the core requirements of our charity is to continue to raise public awareness of Brain and kidney Disease.
The trustees of BK’S HEROES whilst making all decisions on strategy, daily running of the charity and grants have due regard to the Charity Commission guidance form PB1 to ensure their actions are truly for the public benefit

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year
This was overall a quiet year for the charity. After the early charity ball, all of the trustees and most of the volunteers were involved in moving their home bases and as such their attention was understandably diverted away from the charity.
The charity organised annual ball was well supported however and provided a substantial amount of the annual income.
RESEARCH
No suitable research requests were made this financial year. No research grants were made this financial year.
RAISING AWARENESS
To continue our quest to raise awareness Trustees Fiona and Daniel attended the annual two-day seminar provided by Brain Tumour North West.
We continue this year to be supported by our Charity partners, Colne Ladies football team.
BK’s was represented by Trustee Dave and his team at two golf pro ams in Portugal and the USA. Hopefully helping to raise awareness of the charity worldwide!
SUPPORTER SPONSORSHIP.
BK’s was still charity partner with Colne Ladies Football Club and the team continued to raise funds for the charity by running 1000 miles throughout June. Fantastic effort by this wonderful team.
